As part of a 3 centre vacation in January 2005 we have just booked to stay 5 nights at the Holiday Inn. :jumping1:

Would welcome any hints, tips, comments good, bad or indifferent. We are stressing out already about not having enough time to see everything! We are used to having tranfers, passes etc all thrown in and this is flights and accomadation only. How easy is it to get around? What sights would you recommend? Places to eat? :chat:

Thanks, Elaine.

San Francisco is one of my favorite cities to visit. It is very easy to get around town between the cable cars and the bus system. There a couple of things I would recommend: The transit system has lists available on how to get to just about any tourist attraction. (I.e. take the #32 bus to Whatever St, and then trahsfer to the #45 Eastbound bus.) VERY VERY EASY to find anything. The second thing I would recommend is to get a multi-day transit pass. Then you can hop on any bus or cable car to get to your destination.

I don't know where your hotel is, the last time we were there, we stayed in the Warf area, the previous 2 times we were in a more central part of town, I would like to say Union was part of the name. If you are bringing any kids, I would highly recommend the Exploratorium, which is the best hands-on science museum I have ever see.

I spent some time in San Francisco last year for business. I want so bad to take my wife there, it is such a beautiful city. I don't have many suggestions but have a great time.
