Holiday Autos (Alamo) half price on 12th Jan

Their "half price deals" are the same price as they were before the promotion

total spin or con if you ask me

I've checked it out and carhireflorida.net is still working out cheaper for our next trip

Just got an even bigger bargain than I originally thought - as a CSMA member, I get 10% off Holiday Autos bookings. I didn't think this would work on top of the sale prices but it did and I have now just booked a 12-seater minivan for a fortnight for the bargain price of £387 :thumbsup2

Fab news at least the discount has worked for you. What is a CSMA member though :confused3 ?

Working out £100 more expensive than Dollar with usrentacar for our trip in August for a full size 4x4:confused3

just emaild them to say contacting tradeing standards as this is not a sale.will let you know what happens

I don't know whether this is the reason but the sale prices were only for cars being collected before 30th october 2009 - that may be the reason why some of you weren't noticing a difference in price.

Paul, I understand what you're saying but it's unfair to say it's not a sale when, quite clearly, it is - I got a car yesterday for less than 50% of the price I was quoted by Holiday Autos on Saturday - sounds like a sale to me :thumbsup2

I was quoted the same price as the day before
and this is for this Aug well with in the dates

I would imagine they block book cars from Alamo and the sale was of those in periods where they're down on bookings and likely to be left with a surplus. I doubt they're having any problems shifting them in August at full price, even though they're not the cheapest. I'm like Joh and going outside main holiday periods but I still only saved about £30 off a £250 booking. It took it in line with the cheapest I could find. I haven't shopped around much for car hire in the past as I'm happier sticking with what I know unless they've been really expensive

no mention of black out datesjust have to book on the day

from there web site
We have MASSIVE reductions on car hire in our exclusive sale - with a different location reduced every day from 7 to 20 January 2009.

Reductions apply to car hire pick-ups until 31 October 2009 and for ALL cars and ALL durations. Check out the calendar below to see what locations are on sale each day.

You can book on the relevant day any time from 00.00 to 23.59.

If that was the wording Paul then they are totally in the wrong, My dates were for May and price was exactly the same so it wasn't all cars and all durations.

Seeing as we're quoting the website then, see the terms and conditions of the sale:

http://www.holidayautos.co.uk/sale/index.html#terms

Clause 9 states that "The up to 50% discount offer is subject to availability and may be subject to change or withdrawn without prior notification"

Subject to availability suggests that they may have had a limit ont he number of cars of each category that could be booked at the sale price. It also says 'up to 50%' meaning that you would not necessarily get 50% or even 10%. Companies are very clever and wouldn't normally leave themselves open to a lawsuit.

Good luck with trading standards, Paul, but I think you may be on a hiding to nothing.
