They don't seem the easiest of sites to understand, Just got what I think is a like for like quote for 9 nights in May. Both Alamo, think I have added same cover(Gold with Yescarhire).
Holiday Autos £341.75
YesCarhire.com £257.25

Only difference I see is HA only cover 1 additional driver with Max, YCH cover multiple.

Although neither are as cheap as USrentacar at £211 with Budget who we prefer.

Will have to be a good % discount to be competative, are they always so expensive or have they increased prices to have the "sale"?
Graeme, is it Alamo you have used before or HA's because this quote seems OTT.

If HA's prices do come down drastically then remember Quidco, £11.50 cashback.

Whenever I have checked Holidayautos they have always been way over priced, they are going to have to realistically offer around 40% to compete with the likes of usrentacar.

The one I have used a few times www.carhireflorida.net seems to be cheaper than all of them.

Yes I can highly recommend them. Used them at Xmas for the 1st time. The owners Elle and Tim Hubbard are Dis users, very friendly people.
Just got a quote from their site to compare with what I posted this morning and they would be £211 with Budget exactly same as USrentacar. If we go in May and prices stay same this is who I will be booking with.

The prices have gone up since last year's booking but I'd put that down to the $.
It's HA specifically we've used. They've always compared well to others when I've looked. Not always the cheapest but I wanted an Alamo car with a company I'd heard of. I'll have to check carehireflorida.

Just have and the 11 day period i'm looking at in May comes out at £235 for carhireflorida, £239 direct from Alamo and £245 from HA.

As always with car hire every person has to check all sites for their own dates, you can't just say one company is the cheapest or the best. They all vary for different situations, they all have good days all have off days for service. I would pay a little extra to use anyone but Alamo after my experience, others prefer them.

We always go at the quietest times and avoid public holidays like the plague if we can.

My father in law won't use Alamo after they hiked their prices to take advantage of the no-fly embargo on 9/11. It cost him about £1000 to drive from Washington to San Francisco over four days after their flight was grounded. all my bad experiences have been with dollar though. Definitely a 'speak as you find' situation.

We have had bad experiance with Dollar as well so tend to opt for Alamo. We will be giving carhire florida a try for our next trip ( thanks for the link), as long as the price is inclusive of CDW and not one of the add ons.
You have to read the small print, and that applies to all companies big and small.

I've just read through their cover details and I must say I'm very impressed, they are very clear and their quote includes all the cover we need.:thumbsup2

i priced it up and with the max and all the extras we will require, plus the 2% CC charge. it comes to £205 for 1 week.I asume the Discount will be just on the car hire bit and not the extras, which would bring it to £150.
As i feel that there might be a few firms going bust this year, and this price is comparable to most places we have used,we will proberly book it with them
Before they were bought out a few years ago they were the cheapest out there, but must say there the dearest around for the past 10 years
On the addidatanal drivers wouldent worry that it says only one extra driver as at alamo as long as you have paid for extra drivers you can put on as many as they alow
