We were at Disney Dec. 26 - Jan 2.
I was pleasantly surprised at a few new places and disappointed with a few others.
We had the basic DDP. There were 3 adults and one child (myself, husband, and my mom and our 14 month old son).
Table Service Meals:
Chef Mickey's - We thoroughly enjoyed breakfast, but I was very disappointed w/ the character interaction here. The characters stopped by long enough for a quick pic and that was it. It was all very rushed. We waited a very long time for each of them to come around. Donald kept disappearing after every other table or so, which I found quite odd. Our baby LOVED the characters, but there wasn't a lot of interaction for him.
We're going back for the food, but definitely not counting on getting a good character experience from it.
Liberty Tree Tavern - So sad this is no longer a character meal as it was always a favorite. The food here was good, but not quite as good as previous visits. Most of the characters here had awesome interaction with our little guy!
I'd go back to LTT for lunch. I haven't heard what their dinner menu will be w/ no characters.
Garden Grill - This was our first trip to Garden Grill. Besides having a really bad waitress, we found the food here to be okay. The salad was yummy as well as the potatoes. The intial portions were very tiny (3 carrots for 3 adults), but we did get more when asked. It took quite awhile. We didn't mind the wait though because our little guy was eating up all the attention from the characters. They were AWESOME! Each of them must've stopped to play at least 3 times while we were there. It was so cute. I was disappointed that the restaurant wasn't rotating while we were there.
Food - okay Characters - fantastic Service - less than stellar
LeCellier - AMAZING! It was our first time eating here too. It was sooooo yummy! I had a NY Strip Steak well done. It was so tender and delicious! The other 2 adults had the 3 choice dinner w/ the cheese soup, prime rib sandwich, and we all had the "moose" for dessert. Not only was the food wonderful, but the place is beautiful and the service was exceptional! Definitely a new Disney favorite!
50's Prime Time Cafe - Disappointing this time. It was not as good as the time before when we were there. The portions were much smaller and the food just not as yummy as we had remembered. The waiter was trying to get into the role, but it just didn't fit him as hard as he tried. We also had a booth right next to a t.v. and it was so hard to hear anything! Still love the atmosphere - fun, fun! We enjoyed watching the waiter next to us play along w/ his table.
Hollywood & Vine w/ Fantasmic Package - I had not read very good reviews about H&V, but we found the food here to be quite good. The service however was anything but good. The whole time we were there, the waitress never even refilled our drinks!
It was our first time seeing the Fantasmic show and I was quite disappointed. I had read a lot of hype about it, but didn't really think it was worth sitting to see.
We ate several CS meals at our resort (Pop Century). The meals were good, but not anything special.
We also ate at Flame Tree Barbeque. Again, not quite as good as last time we were there. My husband said the ribs were dry, my mom enjoyed the pulled pork, and I thought the chicken was just okay. I missed the corn on the cob they used to have and was disappointed to see that the chocolate cake had changed.
Pecos Bills - One word - CRAZY! My mom got yelled at for sitting at table to start feeding our baby while we were getting the condiments for our lunch because she didn't have HER food. Again, not as good as last time we ate there. The dessert choices really stunk there!
That's all I can think of for now. We had so much fun that we decided (on a whim) to go back and take advantage of the 4/3 promotion over spring break! I actually got all the ADRs we wanted!
This time we'll be trying Coral Reef for the first time too. Exciting!
