Melanie: After Georgie left she sat on the edge of Evan's bed. To her, it was like he left again. She was left in a pool of sadness and it was slowly and steadily drowning her. She knew he didn't hate her, he had assured her of that. She just never saw him. It was more like he didn't care as much, that if she ever died, he would only shrug and get on with life, not giving it a second thought. (Of course she didn't want anyone to hurt when she died, but this was still a little unbearable.)
Evan had a lot of responsibilities, she knew. With his fiance, adopted children, and sister back in his life, it would always be hard for him to find time for her. But with each responsibility she was being pushed father down the list of people in his life. Of course she knew that it would not be right for him to care for her more than any of them, but she couldn't help it. Because she was not blood related, she had always unconsciously known that their relationship might not always be there, that because there was nothing holding them together their bond could break at any time. When that happened, she would not cope, and everything would be dark.
Melanie didn't want to feel this way. She wanted to be happy for them and supportive of their marriage, which she tried to be. Although she didn't know it, there were signs here and there that she was starting to get better. Evan had just affected her so much throughout her life. She would have never chosen to be so depressed, but with everything that had happened to her, she was completely unable to control how she felt.

Gabrielle: she was sitting in the snow, alone. Christmas was soon. She didn't feel festive though. There wasn't much for her to celebrate.
