Should I be worried or just plain happy?

I called a few days ago to reserve a two-night stay in December 2003 at RPH, arriving on a Saturday and departing on a Monday. I was told I could get a Standard Room at $110 for the Sunday night with the ent. card, but the ent. card could not be used for Saturday and the rate for that night was $179.

Today I called back and the "extremely" pleasant reservation agent (and I mean very, very helpful) quoted me $110 for both nights. I didn't know if I should ask her flat out if the ent. card rate was definately good for the Saturday, but since that is her job who am I to question her, especially if it would be to my detriment. I assume the computer system she used accepted the rate she quoted and she even read it back to me at the end of the phone call.

So, does anyone think I will get screwed when i get my ressie by fax/mail, or worse when I check in, or should I be set with that $110 rate for both nights?

Hopefully the rate is clearly stated on my fax confirmation since I can't see how they could back out of that at check in.

Any thoughts or similar experiences? How did it turn out?

Thanks.

jasper - no similar experience, but I would call Loew's 800 # and ask to confirm my reservation using your confirmation #. If they have your reservation at the same rate for the nights you booked, then I would be reassured - I can never believe how quickly the rules and rates seem to change at these hotels! I never received a fax or mail copy of my reservation at RP last August, but I have read of people who requested them - in this case I would definitely request they fax me a confirmation - then there should be no problem at check in.

Good idea! I'll have to track down the Loew's 800# and see if it is in their system yet.

The computer automatically adjusts the rates each day to level needed for capacity.

Jasper - I know that the entertainment rate is not available arriving on Saturdays so I would definatly call Universal to verify. The number is 888-837-2273, option number 2. Let me know how you make out....

We're arriving on a Saturday and we have entertainment rates for RP. Maybe it depends on how many nights you are staying. Our trip isn't until December, so maybe I just made the reservations early enough, before all the discounted room allocated for Saturday nights were gone.

Yeah!!! I received a fax confirmation today and it clearly states the rate of $110 USD, and also includes a total, including 5% and 6.5% taxes, of $245.30 for two nights.

Since the total for both nights is listed on the fax, I can't see how they could possibly charge me anything different at check-in. I can whip out the fax and how could they argue? I don't really see a need to call the Loews toll-free number to check, but I probably will at some point anyway for peace of mind and to see if I can expect some resistance at check-in.

So the mystery of whether they offer entertainment card rates for Saturday nights remains. Some say no, and others say yes. For those that were told no, I hope you have the opportunity to call back and get a YES like what happened to me.

Like everything else in life, it pays to be persistent.

I just called RPH yesterday, 3-19, and they gave me a rate of $135 for both Sat 12-6 and Sun 12-7. However we have an extra adult that adds on $25 per night. So that's the same exact rate using the ent card.

But now I'm worried about keeping that rate because I can't book for a few days yet. Thanks for the heads up about who you talk to. If when I call back they don't give me the same rate I'll call back and try to get someone else.

SJ, good for you! We'll be there the same two nights and I'm glad you got the entertainment rate for both nights.

Now I'm just deciding which park pass to get, there are so many options.

By the way, why don't you book now and cancel later if you have to? Yes, they will bill you now for the first night, but I believe you get a full refund as long as you cancel at least 5 days out. Check to be sure, but I think that's right.

Have you looked into the bonus passes offered thru the Universal
site? 5 consecutive days for less than the 2 day pass. Plus if you buy 4 on-line with a Mastercard you can get one free.

That's what we are planning to buy - I hope the offer is still good.
I think I'm going to go buy them right now!!

I was looking at the power pass that is good for a whole year except for the blackout dates which costs only a tad more than the 2-day pass. We will be passing by USF/IOA on the day after Thanksgiving on our way to South Florida and if we have time we could stop that day for 5-6 hours, though I suspect the day after Thanksgiving will be VERY crowded. Even if we don't do that, we could return anytime duirng the following year for FREE!!!!

Can't get the ent. card rate for RPH for the day after Thanksgiving so I have to decide if I want to splurge for $179.

Also considering EPCOT or MGM for that day after Thanksgiving.
