I live in Media and we have this wonderful place called Linville Orchards. We would go all the time they have a great play ground animals lots of activities tours food just a great place to take the kids. Especially in the fall with Pumpkin land.
It burned last night the barn is over 100 years old and was an 8 sided barn. I am so sad.
I hope they rebuilt but it still won't be the same.

I can't belive that happened! That was such a nice place to go in the Fall, especially around halloween time. I hope they re-build. :(

Spinning, I had no idea you lived in media! I used to live in Folcroft....anyway I'm sorry about Linville! I haven't been in years and years but that is really a shame.

We had our wedding reception at The Log Cabin Inn (on Baltimore Pike--right before the Granite Run Mall) and when it burned down, and they never rebuilt, it just kind of left a void for me. I can't show my kids where we had our reception now!

Our families still live up there; Aston, Brookhaven, Darby, Glenolden, Lincoln University, Lansdowne, & Langhorne.

Blondie do you ever come back for a visit? If so let me know! I remember the Log Cabin well! Now it is a car dealership and dentist area! We use to go see ummmmmmm male dancers EEK! :D I was young!
They say they will rebuild but not sure how what or if on the same foundation. Too soon I guess

Yes, we average a visit about once a year. Last visit was in December a few days before Christmas, we stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn (new hotel) just passed Longwood Gardens so that we could be close to my BIL's house in Lincoln University (had a Christmas party to attend.)

We'll be trekking up "that way" again in September for a wedding in New Jersey, then we'll spend a day in "Delaware County" to see my Mom and Dad (we'll see all his family at the wedding.)

We always drive by our old house and try to get to the Springfield or Granite Run Mall, you know...visiting all the old "stomping grounds." I used to work at Gimbels at the Granite Run, right after I graduated H.S.!

Our last day is spent in South Philly, and getting Cannolis at Termini's to bring back here to Virginia!

We don't plan on visiting during Christmas this year....it's just become too much trying to fit everything in.

Sondra:

I missed that on the news!

I remember when we met, we talked about Linvilla. The Christmas displays were wonderful, and my kids loved the wooden playground with the animals..

That is so sad, no more fresh baked pie smell, no more candy, and no more fudge!

Did anyone get hurt?

It's a small world, another Havertown resident here! Funny I had to come here to find out about Linville. So sad.... I listened to KYW for a long while this morning and didn't hear about this! Well...ok....I was dozing off and on!!:D :D

Wow, I grew up in Media, too. Had a hs reunion at the Log Cabin right before it burned down, took my dd to Linville a year or so ago. (Used to go past it on my school bus route!)

Blondie, my almost neighbor here in Virginia, I worked at the Farrell's Ice Cream Parlor in Granite Run for years in hs/college!

Wow, I'm surprised my mom hasn't called/emailed yet.

Farrell's, talk about a blast from the past! I used to get their Tin Roof Sundae! Great place, too bad it closed!

Every now and then when we're visiting, we'll stop in Pinocchio's for one of their Stombolis. DH and I (before marriage) would eat their, then cruise over to Ridley State Park and party!

The good ole' days!

Wow, I didn't know so many were on here from my area. I used to live in Brookhaven and now I live in Ardmore. We talk about Farrells quite often, no place is the same. I worked in Granite Run Mall and Springfield Mall. We visited Linvilla at least once a year, loved their craft fairs and candy apples. I hope they rebuild.

Oh no! When I was little we used to go there every fall. I haven't thought of that place in years!!
