I had not planned to bring my laptop as I was bring Golf clubs, however now that I do not need the clubs (thank you dvc golf card!!) and the prospect of two teenagers with limited internet access I have changed my mind.

Question is - Is the network connection at OKW and SS hardwired or wireless? I can run both but I can save a few grammes in weight b leaving the wireless card at home.

The cost is the same as disney hotels?

16 hours and counting

Wired interent at both resorts. Cost is $9.95 per 24-hour period.

If you forget your patch cable you can get one for housekeeping. But don't forget to return it or you will be charged handsomely.

The access at SSR and BCV was very good, btw. The only odd parts were the hook up for BCV was at the table in the living room (acroos from the kitchen) and logging into BCV it said "Welcome to Disney's Coronado Springs Resort"!

OKW’s is high-speed and the connection is located near the set of cabinets right next to the patio doors. It is clearly labeled “HSIA” and was very easy to use.

Has anyone tried to connect multiple laptops using a hub? I have internet fanatic family who will bring their own laptop to SSR.

If you are bringing two teens who are more interested in access to the internet, than WDW---my advice would be, stay at a nice place, so that they would have access to a pool, hot tub, etc. and leave them at the RESORT---go out, alone and enjoy! They'll be safer at the resort than they would be on the internet! PS--sorry about the golf club thing---DH and I have a plan---next trip (when we are TEEN FREE!) he is golfing and I am hitting a spa of some sort!

Thanks for your assistance as I am online from SS you can see all worked out fine. Its was raining when I left Belfast and 12 hours later it was raining when we arrived in Orlando. However it did clear up last night and it was hot and sticky on the boardwalk last night.

Its 7am I've been up since 5am taken lots of night photos of SS and ready for whatever we decide to do today

Was there last week and hooked up in five seconds.... the speed was great - although it shuts down every 24 hours and then you have to consent to another 24 hour period....and sign back up again

I think it's shocking when WDW, and DVC, charge for internet hook up when you can go to hotels for a tenth of the price and get it for free. Not to mention all the McDonalds, Paneras, etc that also have hook ups. Shame on them. If nothing else..... give it to DVC members as a free perk.

From what I've heard, Disney had an outside contractor come in and install the wiring and they run the service. Other hotels use free internet as a loss leader, especially to cater to business travelers. If Disney had free internet, I doubt it would make many people choose them over an offside hotel for that reason alone.

ITA. Disney resorts will offer complimentary Internet right after they start the free continental breakfast and daily newspapers on your doormat. ;)

I don't mind the extra cost for the WDW hotels, it's worth it. Even if there is no free breakfast. (However, there are newpapers at some of the hotels there.) But, come on, they don't need to charge for everything they have for you. Next it will be $1 for ice. The excuse that someone else put them in doesn't wash anymore. Did DVC members have any say about this contract? And, how much did they pay DVC for the rights? And where did the money go? Could not members demand free access? It's our place, after all.
