I was wondering if i should look into hiring someone there in orlando to do my make up? Any suggestions if i should hire someone?

Or should i go to sephora or some other make up counter, have the person help me find all the right color/products, buy it and do it myself?

What's your take on this situation???

You are only a bride once, well supposed to be lol. Every bride needs to feel pampered on thier one special day....pamper yourself and treat yourself and have somebody do it for you.

I used Ana from beaute speciale..website beautspeciale.com They use MAC makeup.

I did mine myself. I stopped in at the Laura Mercier counter for help with the eyes (I wanted more dramatic that I usually wear) and she gave me a step by step lesson and also helped me put the "look" together. Then I practiced once or twice before leaving home.

I used a great product called Era Face Spray Foundation, which is what Carmindy always uses on "What Not to Wear." It's pricey and can be tricky to get the hand of, but it's absolutely flawless and it lasts. I don't use it everyday, only for special events. :thumbsup2

So I say it's what ever your most comfortable with. I love makeup, and I was excited to do my own. :)

I did mine myself as well...mostly because I don't wear much make-up anyway and didn't want to look all made up for my photos (it just wouldn't have been me).

Ultimately do what YOU want to do...if you want to feel extra special and pampered, get a cosmetologist to come do your make up.

If you are worried about budget and feel you can do what you want then go for it!!

I'm having Patricia LeJeune do my make up. I'd rather hand the reins over to a pro than try and do it myself - it's just one less thing to stress about.

I agree with getting your make up done proffessionally. They know what will look good for the camera and in your pictures... you want to look flawless and gorgeous! Plus, the pampering is great! I'm so glad I did... I think I would have been too nervous on my wedding day to TRY and do it myself! (It would have looked pretty bad!) ;) I used Naomi from About Face and thought she did a great job and would definitely recommend her! :)

Im not HUGE on alot of makeup so I didnt have someone do it for me.

i did what you are thinking of doing...i went to several makeup counters(lancome, este lauder, clinique, etc) & i had a pic of my dress & had them all do a "wedding day" look on me.
i didnt go with just one line...i picked different product i liked from each counter & got a great result(i think)...plus i tried to do it around gift times, so if i bought i also got free stuff with my purchase WOO HOO!!!

i think you should factor in a few things when you decide:

1. do you wear makeup
2 how do you like the feel of "heavier" makeup on your face
3time (will you have time to do your own"
4 is there a bridal party that will also need makeup?
5 heat & humidity??

heres how mine came out (i went natural)

Just want to add that even if you don't usually wear makeup, you might want to consider hiring a makeup artist on your wedding day for that very reason: Because you don't usually wear makeup, you may not know all the tricks for a flawless face.

Just because you hire a makeup artist doesn't mean you have to look like Pam Anderson. :rotfl: Tell the pro that you want a natural look, and that you want to look like yourself.

It will save a lot of stress on the wedding day and ensure you look great in pictures.

Thanks so much for the insight.

See at first I was totally ready to do it myself, but i think that since my wedding day is coming up quick.... i am getting nervous. I don't know if i will be able to pull it off. So it sound like with my nerves, i should probably hire someone. I'll look into all the ones suggested. Thanks again ladies.

No problem!! I think you will feel better having somebody do it for you :)

If it was causing you stress in any way then going with a pro is a great choice! You want as little stress as possible on a day you should be feeling joy and happiness. :)

this is something i debated and debated .. well DH made me ( like it took alot) take the plunge and email beaute speciale... i used to wear make up everyday wouldn't go out wihtout it but after 3 kids in 4 yrs i didnt have time so i dont wear it now unless we are going somewhere.. I took ***. in high school so i know a few tricks with hair and such but didnt want ot have to worry about 3 heads of hair nad make up on our special day..( i will stil lhave the 2 boys hair to do but mine my moms and dd's will get done )

I did mine myself. I actually found it really relaxing! I had a makeup lesson by one of the makeup artists at the salon that I worked at help me out and that was fun in itself, but to have the time to myself that morning before I had my hair done. It was really nice. I'm sure whatever you decide to do though will be fantastic! It's your wedding day!

I don't usually wear make-up, but for my wedding day I wanted a natural look but enough make-up for the photos. I opted for a cosmetologist Anna for Beaute Speciale, and I am so glad that I did. Myself and my mum used her. Firstly she was so bubbly and relaxing. I don't know about you but sometimes it is good to have someone else in the room with you other than family to speak to on the day of your wedding, it helps you stay calm and relaxed. Not only that you get pampered and made to feel even more special. It is one of your best days of your life............go on pamper yourself, no stress.

Monana-- I see that you are in the Seattle area. Even if you are going to hire someone in Orlando, I would suggest visiting a few makeup counters to see what you like and don't like.

I highly recommend visiting the MAC store at University Village. The salespeople are really nice and will work with you to create a look for your day. Many of them are professional makeup artists, not just retail sales. You don't have to buy anything but it will help you decide what you want to look like. Think of it as a trial run! :) (No, I don't work for MAC. I've just always had a good experience at the store.)

The Sephora in downtown is good, but it can get busy and sometimes the staff can get distracted. But if you go when it is quiet (not on weekends!)you will have a better experience.

The beauty departments at the downtown Nordstrom and Bellevue Nordstrom are good, too. I think Lisacope visited the MAC counter at Nordstrom to create her look.

If you find a look you love, take lots of pictures! I did this for an out-of-town wedding I was in. A MAC artist here did my makeup really well. She wrote down all the colors and I took pictures to show the makeup artist in Colorado. That makeup artist said it was helpful because I knew exactly what I wanted. I even ended up buying the lipstick because I loved it so much!

Hope that helps!

A bit delayed but I wanted to chime in with my thoughts.

I'm having my hair and makeup done by Patricia LeJeune because of the reason that I didn't want to be stressed out and have to worry about doing my own makeup on my wedding day. Plus I really loved all her other work, and how naturally beautiful the hair and makeup looked.

BUT! I had a trial run with Patricia and it ran really long because I had a hard time explaining to Patricia how I wanted my eye makeup to look. Everything else was gorgeous and flawless, except for the eye makeup. It's not that it was bad, it just didn't suit me. (I don't blame Patricia at all for the hard time we had at the trial, I think she's really great. She was extremely patient with me and tried different things. I think she may just not have enough experience working with asian women with really small eyes.)

So... let's just say I've been obsessively stressing out about this lately and I came to realization that I should probably have Patricia do everything except for my eyes. And then I'll finish up with my own eye makeup.

I guess what it comes down to is, if you aren't extremely particular about how you like your makeup to be, then having a professional do it will make things so much easier and hassle free. The problem comes if for some reason you like your makeup a certain way that the cosmetologist can't reproduce. Then it's probably less stressful just to do it yourself!

I had Ana from Beaute Special do my hair and make up. I can certainly do my own, but I was an August bride and was concerned about sweating my make up off before I even got down the aisle. She was at my room at 4:30 am to get me "done up" in time for our MK shoot, then we had a 10 am ceremony, followed by a luncheon and a day at MGM. We closed the park down at 1 am (or was it 2?)...really late anyway. And everything looked good when I washed it off before bed.

I totally agree with this. Even if you are not a summer bride, you are still in Florida, with the potential of humidity--at any time.;)

I used Ana from Beaute Speciale and absolutely loved her. And I am not a huge make-up wearer--I'm an everyday-mascara-and-lip-gloss-only kind of girl. But for my wedding I wanted to feel even more beautiful than usual  and wanted someone who could use the least amount of make up and have the best results.

My make up was done around noon on my wedding day, and it lasted well beyond the 9-10 p.m. end of my day. And I felt amazing the entire time. And my groom thought I looked pretty darn good, too ;)

I also had an at-home reception and had make up done for that, too. IMHO, some of the best money spent on the wedding.

I'm sorry my post is so long! :goodvibes

I also used Ana from Beaute Speciale, she and her girls were amazing.

I do do my make-up when I go out but I'm no good with putting my hair up.

They made us all look amazing totally worth it. I also had Ana come in for the morning of the Magic Kingdom photo shoot.
