We are trying to decide if we should try HHI or Vero. We are an active family with 2 teenage girls (14 and 17). We like to go, go, go! Beach, pool, shopping, eating, exploring, mini golf, amusement parks, fireworks, water activites, tours, you name it. We absolutely love Disney and usually take a 10 day trip and are on the go from 8am to midnight and hardly ever seem to make it to the pool!

Yes, you are probably tired but that is how we relax on vacation! LOL

Which resort do you think is better for us? We are planning on staying a week.

It doesn't look like you can walk to the beach at HHI? It looks like you have to drive to do almost anything.

Sounds like you need to stay at a WDW resort. That said... I think HHI will be better with three girls including two teens. Much more to do in town.

I love VB, but if you all need shopping and restaurants go to HHI.

Also, I think the activities for teens is better at HHI.

You'll have a drive to activities for both. However, VB is on the beach, and has restaurants on-site. HHI is about a mile from the resort to the beach house.

At the end of the day, we purchased at VB for two reasons:
1) It's on the beach
2) It's 2 hours from WDW

Since I haven't stayed at either, I'll let others who have "real" opinions and experience post. ;) I've seen pictures, and both look AMAZING. I think HHI is more laid back, though. It doesn't seem like the go-go-go resort you're looking for. VB really isn't either, but you're within driving distance to lots of things.

Best of luck!

We haven't stayed at VB yet so I can't comment on that. But, we did stay a week at HHI last April with DD15, DD's friend 15, and DS 12 and all had a great time. We did lots of activities on our own but I remember the resort offering a lot also. We played tennis, miniature golf, went to the lighthouse, took a dolphin excursion, fished, went to the pool, beach and even took time to relax. We ate out all dinners, but ate in for breakfast and most lunches. The kids have asked to go back again this year for spring break so that speaks well for it.:thumbsup2

Good luck and I hope you enjoy wherever you go.

I struggled with this same decision. We decided to try HH since it was totally different than any other resort and it looks like it has a lot of activities and great restaurants nearby.

I figured I can always try VB while at WDW for a few days.

Good luck deciding!

They are both beautiful resorts, but there is more going on in HH. Although you drive to restaurants they seem to be closer to the resort-you can bike to the beach, take their shuttle, or drive yourself. You could take a quick day trip to Savannah (40 minutes). We love them both, but there's more to do, and easier to get there in HH. Have fun deciding!

As much as we love Vero. We go to WDW 4 nights and Vero for 4 nights during a trip or a long weekend to Vero.... I don't think we could do a whole 10 night vacation there. But Hilton Head - we can easily spend a 10 night trip. But different strokes for different folks.

:thumbsup2

When are you going? We have a HH vacation planned for 6/2 to 6/8 and have girls and boys in the same age range. :beach:

I have been to both HHI and Vero with teenagers.

HHI has a lot more to do after leaving the beach for the day- a trip to the Salty Dog area is a must, but you do need a car.

Also the kids can walk across the bridge to a shopping/dining area on their own because they are older.

I think if you want action, action, action - then HHI would be a better option, especially with teenagers. VB has activities, but they're oriented toward much younger children. We've been to both and for us VB is the right choice, mainly because it's not action packed!!

I had a hard time deciding myself. I have not been to either resort. We will be traveling with my brother and his family. They stayed at Vero 3 nights about 3/4 years ago (they loved it but said not much do to there and have no problem going again). My dh and I are already doing a beach vacation in July (Cancun) so it really did not matter to me.

Our options were 3 nights at Vero and then 4 nights at WDW or 4 nights at WDW and 3 nights at HH. We booked the second option. We will probably try Vero next year before or after a DCL cruise (well that's the plan so far).

That is what I love about DVC - we know we will be going back and want to try all the DVC resort at one time or another.

Enjoy!

We definitely prefer HH and we have stayed at both. We enjoy the beach and HH's is much nicer. The beach at VB is very narrow and there is a steep incline.

While we love VB, and we also have younger as well as older children so it works for us, but if we had older ones like you do I am almost positive they would like HH better. Lots of stuff within walking distance. The beach is also within walking distance. Or biking! LOTS of ppl bike up that way!

The main difference between these two resorts is VB is ON the beach while HH is not.
