Last February we spent a few nights at HHI. The rooms and the lodge were quite comfortable but as it was "off season" the resort was quite dead. The "boardwalk" area across from the resort looks like it would be real nice in season as do the pools and beach house.

We are planning a trip with friends in October, has anyone stayed then and is there any nightlife nearby? The alternative is WDW as the guys will be golfing most days, nightlife for couples is our concern. Is October in season for the Beach House, and more importantly for the shelter cove area (outdoor bars etc}? Thanks

We've been in October and the weather was nice and we spent some time at the beach/beach house. It seems as though the bar at the beach house was not open while we were there. Signals was open and maybe you could get a beer there, but the full bar was listed as "seasonal" and not open. As for adult night-life, I can't speak to that since we had our three children with us. I do remember hearing live music over at Shelter Cove and several of the restaurants in Shelter Cove had patio dining so my guess would be that there is nightlife in HH during October.

We went to HH once in May. I would think that beach weather at this time of year might be hit or miss.

There are quite a few resort hotels - Marriot etc that should have some type of nightlife but if you don't mind a 45 minute drive to Savannah you should be able to find plenty of entertainment. There are quite a few places on the river in area called the "Riverwalk" and also in downtown Savannah.

Hilton Head in October is great. It is in "full swing" with the golfers. Across the resort will is live music and bar at the mexican place. As for dance clubs, I don't know of any, but I am sure they are there.

HH is not a night life type of place. But there is plenty to keep most people busy if that's what they want. Oct should be fine both with weather and business options and it will be less crowded than the summer.
