Hillary Supporters unite part 2; no bashing please

OK. I agree, it is both. She slept at the beginning of the race and did not mobilize her base and supporters sufficiently. However, her supporters are also those that traditionally have trouble with caucuses. The race is so close however (despite what Obama supporters say) that had she come out of the gate more organized, she would probably have been in the lead anyway.

There really is no use dissecting this post mortem anyhow. I am not sure that the Democratic party wants to do anything about it in the future anyway, because it seems they are enamored with the "new face" of the party so much that they forget who the stalwarts always were and will continue to be in the future.

I am a bit maudlin today. Can you tell?

:rotfl2: me too

Have a great Holiday everyone. I'm going to the Jersey Shore for 4 days without any Internet.:scared: I will have DD's I Touch so maybe I'll pick up a WiFi area if I get Lucky.

CHOW!

:thumbsup2 Have a great time. I spent every summer of my teen years down the NJ shore!!!!!:rolleyes1

The process has been very flawed. Due to caucuses, many people had no say in who the nominee will be. The general election will be a winner take all, not good for Obama. The perfect canidate is showing cracks with weak showings in important states. Plus, the media is starting to turn on him by questioning his ability to win. This is just the beginning.

I heard one news person state that she believes Hillary will take the issue of Fla/MI to the supreme court as a civil rights issue. She is a fighter, and I will feel better knowing Clinton, with her work ethic, became our president.

Maybe this will help. Ramenussen (however they spell it) came out with a poll today. They polled the MUST WIN States, McCain vs Hillary...Hillary easily wins (by 7%) in the BIG PA,FL & OH swing states.

Obama's arrogance is one reason that I do not like this man. His whole attitude has been a huge turn-off for me. Funny how Obama isn't that much ahead of Hillary - still a very tight race and he's not the declared Dem nominee yet -but he's publicly searching for his VP.

On the other side of the coin is McCain (and this is not a Rep vs Dem thing - this is a person vs person thing and the choices they are making). McCain is so far in the lead over Ron Paul it's laughable. Everyone knows it's going to be McCain come November yet he's still only the presumptive nominee. He may be looking for a VP, and most likely he is, but he's apparently smart enough to keep it low-key until he's the declared Rep nominee.

Regardless what people think about Hillary's chances of winning the Dem nominee, she's still in the race and it's a very close race at that. It's an insult that he's basically stopped campaigning in the last of the states and is publicly searching for his VP.

NEW: Former deputy attorney general to be on Obama's VP vetting team, source says

Source: Former Fannie Mae CEO accepts Obama's request to begin VP search

Jim Johnson performed similar role for Mondale, Kerry campaigns

Source says process is "at a very early point"

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Sen. Barack Obama is beginning his search for a running mate, but Sen. John McCain's campaign denies speculation that he's interviewing vice presidential candidates at his home this weekend.

A veteran Democratic activist said former Fannie Mae CEO Jim Johnson has accepted Obama's request to begin a screening and selection process for the No. 2 spot.

Johnson performed a similar role for Democratic presidential nominees Walter Mondale in 1984 and John Kerry in 2004.

Meanwhile, McCain, the presumptive Republican nominee, is hosting top party figures at his home in Arizona this weekend, fueling speculation that he is starting his own search for a running mate.

But campaign advisers downplayed the visits, saying the gathering is not a vetting of potential running mates but only the McCains showing their gratitude to the 18 to 20 guests for their support.

Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton declined to comment on the report of his candidate's running mate search.

The source, a party operative who has been involved in Democratic presidential campaigns and conventions for more than 20 years, said that the process is "at a very early point" but that campaign workers "have been informally thinking about it for a while."

In addition, former Deputy Attorney General Eric Holder will be part of Obama's vice presidential vetting team, a source close to the campaign said.

Holder held the No. 2 position in the Justice Department during the Clinton administration and was acting attorney general in the early days of the Bush administration.

Obama said Thursday that he is not discussing his selection process and does not have criteria for a running mate.

"No criteria right now. I still have to win the nomination," he said.

Although Obama is the Democratic front-runner and has captured a majority of pledged delegates after Tuesday's Kentucky and Oregon primaries, he has not clinched the 2,025 delegates needed to win the nomination against Sen. Hillary Clinton.

Despite the math, Clinton has vowed to remain in the race.

A longtime Democratic strategist familiar with other vice presidential searches called Johnson "a natural" for the role and said that choosing him was "very efficient because he has already vetted some of the people, like [former North Carolina Sen. John] Edwards and [New Mexico Gov. Bill] Richardson."

The "threshold question," the strategist said, was "whether Hillary Clinton is a part of the process or whether there's a conversation up front" that clarifies things.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a California Democrat, was surprised Thursday to hear that Obama has started a search.

"I did not know that Sen. Obama had started his search for vice president ... but again, when it comes to vice presidents, I am not giving any advice unless asked about it by the candidates," she said.

"I think, though, that Hillary Clinton and Sen. Obama, both having a good chance to win the nomination, probably started thinking about who his or her running mate might be, what transition teams they might have, whether they should be briefed by the White House ... on issues of concern to our country," Pelosi said. Watch what Pelosi has to say about the vice presidential search »

Among the guests expected at McCain's ranch in Sedona, Arizona, are Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, one of McCain's former rivals for the GOP presidential nomination.

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, another formal rival, was invited but cannot attend, a source said.

Other guests, according to an adviser, include Kansas senator and former Republican presidential candidate Sam Brownback, former eBay CEO Meg Whitman, FedEx founder Fred Smith and senior adviser Charlie Black.

But Black said, "He is definitely not interviewing anyone, and this weekend is not about that [vice presidential] process."

Obama and McCain face similar challenges in seeking a running mate, insiders say.

One of their top considerations must be age -- in Obama's case because of his relative youth, 46, and because McCain, at 71, is relatively old, according to a veteran Democrat who asked not to be named.

And both "need to focus strongly on national security," the source said.

McCain must select someone qualified to handle national security questions, or else it would indicate that he is choosing someone who is not qualified to be president. Watch a report on McCain's vice presidential options »

Obama's lack of a long record at the national level -- he has been a senator since 2005 -- leaves him with comparatively little national security experience.

That may make it less likely that Obama would choose a governor as his running mate, since they tend to have few national security qualifications, according to the source.

One exception might be Richardson, who has been involved in international diplomacy and was U.S. ambassador to the United Nations in President Clinton's administration.

I got such a good laugh from this I just had to post it, enjoy...

WHY DID THE CHICKEN CROSS THE ROAD?

BARACK OBAMA:
The chicken crossed the road because it was time for a CHANGE! The chicken wanted CHANGE!

JOHN MC CAIN:
My friends, that chicken crossed the road because he recognized the need to engage in cooperation and dialogue with all the chickens on the other side of the road.

HILLARY CLINTON:
When I was First Lady, I personally helped that little chicken to cross the road. This experience makes me uniquely qualified to ensure -- right from Day One! -- that every chicken in this country gets the chance it deserves to cross the road.

OPRAH:
Well, I understand that the chicken is having problems, which is why he wants to cross this road so bad. So instead of having the chicken learn from his mistakes and take falls, which is a part of life, I'm going to give this chicken a car so that he can just drive across the road and not live his life like the rest of the chickens.

GEORGE W. BUSH:
We don't really care why the chicken crossed the road. We just want to know if the chicken is on our side of the road, or not. The chicken is either against us, or for us. There is no middle ground here.

COLIN POWELL:
Now to the left of the screen, you can clearly see the satellite image of the chicken crossing the road...

ANDERSON COOPER - CNN:
We have reason to believe there is a chicken, but we have not yet been
allowed to have access to the other side of the road.

JOHN KERRY:
Although I voted to let the chicken cross the road, I am now against it!
It was the wrong road to cross, and I was misled about the chicken's
intentions. I am not for it now, and will remain against it.

NANCY GRACE:
That chicken crossed the road because he's GUILTY! You can see it in his
eyes and the way he walks.

MARTHA STEWART:
No one called me to warn me which way that chicken was going. I had a
standing order at the Farmer's Market to sell my eggs when the price
dropped to a certain level. No little bird gave me any insider
information.

DR SEUSS:
Did the chicken cross the road? Did he cross it with a toad? Yes, the
chicken crossed the road, but why it crosses d I've not been told.

ERNEST HEMINGWAY:
To die in the rain. Alone.

GRANDPA:
In my day we didn't ask why the chicken crossed the road. Somebody told
us the chicken crossed the road, and that was good enough.

BARBARA WALTERS:
Isn't that interesting? In a few moments, we will be listening to the
chicken tell, for the first time, the heart warming story of how it
experienced a serious case of molting, and went on to accomplish its
life long dream of crossing the road.

ARISTOTLE:
It is the nature of chickens to cross the road.

JOHN LENNON:
Imagine all the chickens in the world crossing roads together, in peace.

BILL GATES:
I have just released eChicken2007, which will not only cross roads, but
will lay eggs, file your important documents, and balance your check
book. Internet Explorer is an integral part of the Chicken. This new
platform is much more stable and will never cra...#@&&^(C% .........
reboot.

ALBERT EINSTEIN:
Did the chicken really cross the road, or did the road move beneath the
chicken?

BILL CLINTON:
I did not cross the road with THAT chicken. What is your definition of
chicken?

AL GORE:
I invented the chicken!

COLONEL SANDERS:
Did I miss one?

DICK CHENEY:
Where's my gun?

Now I'm still a Hillary supporter but I don't see how you can find Obama arrogant and not see Hillary's arrogance as well. I mean just what we know about her years as 1st Lady pretty accurately paints that picture. So while this is a constant complaint against Obama I personally just don't find it very credible.:confused3 I think the big problem on the net is the over the top supporters of any candidate just want to bash the other side into oblivion and sadly in this case we (Hillary and Obama supporters) are too often forgetting that we're really, ultimately (should be) on the same side.

Who is Bruce for?

ENDORSEMENT: 2008

Dear Friends and Fans:

Like most of you, I've been following the campaign and I have now seen and heard enough to know where I stand. Senator Obama, in my view, is head and shoulders above the rest.

He has the depth, the reflectiveness, and the resilience to be our next President. He speaks to the America I've envisioned in my music for the past 35 years, a generous nation with a citizenry willing to tackle nuanced and complex problems, a country that's interested in its collective destiny and in the potential of its gathered spirit. A place where "...nobody crowds you, and nobody goes it alone."

At the moment, critics have tried to diminish Senator Obama through the exaggeration of certain of his comments and relationships. While these matters are worthy of some discussion, they have been ripped out of the context and fabric of the man's life and vision, so well described in his excellent book, Dreams From My Father, often in order to distract us from discussing the real issues: war and peace, the fight for economic and racial justice, reaffirming our Constitution, and the protection and enhancement of our environment.

After the terrible damage done over the past eight years, a great American reclamation project needs to be undertaken. I believe that Senator Obama is the best candidate to lead that project and to lead us into the 21st Century with a renewed sense of moral purpose and of ourselves as Americans.

Over here on E Street, we're proud to support Obama for President.

Still isn't enough to sway me to Obama. Experience matters, and he doesn't have enough.

Why would any celebrity endorsement sway anyone in any direction? I never understood that. What insight does Bruce Springsteen have that I don't?

I was just answering the question, Who is Bruce for....not intended to sway anyone, just letting you know who he supports:goodvibes . I do agree with you, celebrity endorements mean nothing to me either....I would support Obama regardless of what Bruce Springsteen thought....it's just nice for me that I like Bruce and I like Obama.

First I must say I loved that poem...it was great and i could here there voices in the words :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: I need to copy and send that to some friends :thumbsup2

As for Bruce..yes I did and i knew him and went horse back riding with him and his band. I was riding my horse in Holmdel Park NJ and him and a few of his band members came riding up and asked if we( my friend Susan and I) would mind if they road with us...we said sure why not...so we all trekked around for about 4 hrs and chatted and had a great time.

Well after we were done we went back off the trails to the main part of the hill/park...where everyone got high and drank and all that 70's stuff....and we said goodbye. All of a sudden droves of our friends came running up to us sayine..WOW we did not know you knew Bruce Springstien...  Susan and I laughed and said

"That was Bruce S." He looked so different..and buy the way him and his boys took the horses from the stable where they rented them and went off of property...they could have been arrested if the stable had found out.

So the Next time I went to the Pony he was there and I went up to him and we chatted...he gave me 5 free concert tickets to Brookdale Collage (yes at a Collage not yet famous)..and had a blast. We did run into each other many times after but as he left the pony I got out of touch.

about 1 year ago my DH was talking to his best friend who works/runs a huge huge boys camp, they got on the conversation some how about how Bruce is always there lending a hand..so DH told him to ask Bruce if he remembered me and Bruce said "Sure do best time we ever had riding"..the next thing I knew I got in the mail a picture of him(one of his older ones from that time) with a note on it that says....To Robin....the best ride that I ever had" :rotfl2:

I started laughing. DH's friend asked him to send it to me....but the funny thing is is that I am not a Bruce fan...dont care to much for his music....dont own any of his music....but the memory is sure fun.

He owns the Stone pony but Asbury park is trashed. A slum...makes me cry when I see the pictures because I have such great memories there at a time of it's hayday..they are rebuilding it so if he does an opening may go there just to see it back in the highlight :thumbsup2 you know... a blast from the past:woohoo:  :hippie:

Still isn't enough to sway me to Obama. Experience matters, and he doesn't have enough.

Really? If experience were all that mattered, the I guess JFK should never have been elected, right? Or Teddy Roosevelt? How about Bill Clinton...what exactly was his experience on the national scene before he was elected? Oh, and I guess you were going to vote for McCain in the general, since he has more experience in Washington than either of the two Dems. Right?

Maybe this will help. Ramenussen (however they spell it) came out with a poll today. They polled the MUST WIN States, McCain vs Hillary...Hillary easily wins (by 7%) in the BIG PA,FL & OH swing states.

:lmao: It's a "pipe dream", yet Rasmussen also shows polls with Obama leading in Colorado and Iowa, and trailing within the margin of error in Virginia and a couple other places where Hillary is losing. So if it's a "pipe dream" because it's based on polling, how can you then quote the same polling? :rotfl2:
