You know - I hate to say it - but this reminds me of the way Bush campaigned in 2000. He never answered questions from reporters - and yet they still preferred him over Gore........

Well maybe Obama also looks like the kind of guy you'd like to have a beer with. Hillary certainly looks like she'd be no fun at a frat party. What a way to pick a leader. :confused3

I think Obama's campaign is a lot like bush's and it's no accident...It worked.

As for personalities, I think Hillary gets a bum rap...She's great on talk shows and SNL...Hell, she's lived with Bill for how long and he was always 'cool'.

Not to say Obama wouldn't be fun but you know, I never like hanging around with guys who were always preaching at me...

I always hated that "who would you rather have a beer with" way of picking candidates....but I guess it has always really been about personalities and not substance. (I am really referring to GWB and Kerry) If people had voted on real things that matter, we would never had GWB Part II!!!!

Are you really insuiating we are voting for Obama simply for the fact we would have a beer with him and Hillary isn't as fun?

I am pointing out some similarities between the Bush and Obama campaigns. I am sorry the comparison is not flattering to your chosen candidate.

I believe some Obama supporters are making their decision because they like him. My son has told me as much. He says many of his college friends don't even pay much attention to the issues. They're interested in the war and money for college. Other than that, many just want someone they like who is going to bring about change. Since Obama and Hillary have similar stands, they don't worry much about anything else. Obama gives amazing speeches that fire them up and make them believe he's their man. They like him and he seems like one of them. My son says older generations worry more about issues and admits it's smart. He says it's just not the way his friends usually make political decisions.

Anybody watch the Obama speech? I have to hand it to him...it was good. Again, I liked much of what he said. I'm not sure he distanced himself enough from Wright to satisfy most people. :confused3

I still don't see if you know a minister is saying a lot of things you don't agree with, why you keep going there? It's not like he is Roman Catholic and it's coming from the Pope. These were views coming directly from this individual. I'd have thought more of Obama if he'd turned away from any church that backed that sort of talk. And why would you choose that man to be your spiritual advisor and moral compass? Wouldn't you, at the very least, realize that would come back to haunt you in a political race?

Like experience, competence, toughness & 100% vetted.

(as opposed to great oratory skills, little to no vetting, strange to racist church, strange to racist "moral compass" & odd choice of spiritual leadership.)

Now I have heard everything....Bush had "style over substance"....what...let me get up off the floor!!!!:lmao: He had neither!!!!

While I agree with you 100%, he did have that frat boy/good ol' boy thing going that appealed to a lot of voters.

First Lady does not equate political experience, but I bet she can do a bang up job having a luncheon or picking the White House Christmas theme. I mean come on,Obama has as much experience as Bill Clinton when he entered the White House. Please, last week she wanted Obama for VP.

Don't know much about the black church eh, so let's call it "strange and racist," sounds pretty intolerant to me.

When people stacked Bush against Gore and Kerry-they saw a guy that was more like them. Gore and Kerry came off like the smart kid in class that always reminded the teacher that she forgot to assign the homework for the weekend.

Fortunately, intelligent is cool again and both candidates on our side can proudly show off their literacy and competence.

As opposed to the sexist comments in the first part of your post? Hillary is a Senator and was an active participant in policy decisions during Bill's presidency (remember the repub outrage?). Obama is a political newcomer who has yet to do anything I could get behind.

You are right. They are both extremely intelligent. However, their platforms are so similar that it really does come down to whom you like better and who's character is more presidential (for lack of a better word).

I do apologize for the sexist comments....I am a woman so that's lame of me...however, the experience issue is just not one that I can fully get behind Hillary on, Obama is not that inexperienced.
