Hillary supporters Unit #3 ..yes we are still here!

She was and still is treated horribly by your party.

Ironically, it's no worse than McSame was treated in 2000. He ran, and he didn't get the nom. That's what happened to HC. It doesn't mean she shouldn't have won--and she may yet be our president--but it does mean she lost. She's not a sore loser about it, so I fail to see why Republicans should be, except that they want to divide the Dems.

Not so. I got a chuckle out of Chobie "appreciating" voting converts to Obama. Just expressed it and from there it led to some discussion. I haven't posted on this thread very often at all.

Hope everyone has a great day! I'm out of here.

I can certainly understand your reasoning. Thankfully, there is no way my state will go for McCain, so I am free to vote my conscience.

Never say never.

I seriously thought my state was solid Democrat, which was why in the beginning I was just going to write in Hillary. But now I hear how MN is a battleground state, even though it hasn't gone Rep in the general election since Richard Nixon  Since they are saying MN is a battleground state I decided I better make my vote count. .

Obama is not "running away" in the polls here. He is leading but it is still anyone's game here. Although personally I really do think Obama will win MN.

Truthfully I was surprised MN is considered a battleground state. I thought Minnesota was always solid blue.

Seriously I don't see how that is any different then any other election or even Obama's ads. All polictial ads are full of half truths, always have been and always will be.
Sure it would be nice if that wasn't the case, but I don't see it changing.

It's up to the American public to sort out the half truths garbage. Of course I know must don't and they do listen to a 30 second ad, but you can't do nothing about those people.

I don't think McCain's or Obama's ads have been all that bad (YET!) Of course honestly we haven't seen a whole lot of them here (YET) and the ones I have seen have been pretty mellow, IMO
We have been seeing more Senate ads between Franken and Coleman. Now you want to see sleazy, full of half truths ads check out both Franken's AND Coleman's and they are on during EVERY commerical break! :scared1:

That’s the truth. Look at the current campaign against Palin (since that’s the bigger issue than a campaign against McCain at the moment) that’s painting her to be a religious nut-job when she isn’t. Just crap half-truths and twists on stuff about book bannings and wanting to teach the creationist theory in school and the Iraq war being “God’s” war. All of this has now been debunked as crap but you wouldn’t know it as the left is trying to keep it buried. Even when CNN the other day was debunking this as crap; at the exact same time they were using words and vocal tones to convey that even though they were presenting facts to debunk those lies … they still believed she was a religious nut-job. Why? Because they were all Obama supporters and didn’t want anything favorable to be said of her. Go over to the “What Gibson asked Palin vs Obama” thread to page three. Someone managed to get a transcript of sections of the Palin interview and look at what was edited out by ABC to make her look clueless to anyone watching the interview.

McCain’s ads are no different than Obama’s ads. (I know a lot of Obama’s ads to be only of half truths – especially when he’s trying to say he’s done something when in reality he had little to nothing to do with that issue.

Like jacksonsmom said: You’ve got to sort through the half truths and garbage to see the truth.

It's called honesty -- glad you find that amusing.

I think this is turning out to be a weird, unpredictable election all the way around. There are so many wild cards that may or may not pan out. Will the newly registered come out to vote? How big will the black turnout be? Will Sarah-mania continue? Will Obama go for the proverbial "shot to the groin"?

It is ironic that Obama is slowly gaining after McCain's bounce. At this point, things are just so fluid.

Maryland is +14 for Obama. I can't see that lead being overcome before Nov.

Yep, you are probably right with that one then ;)

Last poll I looked at was Obama was ahead by +4 in MN, so really anyone's game still.

You are in Texas and I am in Maryland. Our states are both solid (red in your case, blue in mine), our votes won't matter anyway so I am currently giving serious consideration to a write in. I was really leaning McCain until the Palin pick, but there is no way I could vote for him now.

I suppose if my state becomes a closer race, my reasoning would be different, but the way things are now, I guess I'm writing in Hillary (or Mickey Mouse-anything's better than Obama and Palin)
Those are very good points. :thumbsup2

I keep putting the futility of my vote out of mind. I know that Texas will go red regardless so I don't know why I worry so much about voting for the "right" party. Thanks for reminding me.

You're both right IMO.

So maybe the Republican posters who are upset by the way Hillary is treated should also call other Republicans on it -- just so they don't look like they are just trying to win over Hillary voters.

I remembered how the OS kept blasting Hillary whenever she said anything that could be construed as negative about Obama. Supposedly she was just being mean and playing dirty politics even though it all looked quite normal to me.

I'm not upset about it or anything now but it still seems odd.

I wanted to touch on this point. It appears that I am not the only one who finds it odd that the OS and the liberal/progressive pundits crucified Hillary when she would go the least bit negative and now there are calls by some OS for Obama to hit back hard in a "scorched earth" campaign. While I viewed Hillary's campaign as "politics as usual" and not something evil, I am surprised that the tune has changed. Many of the liberal/progressive pundits are now calling for blood and attack ads.

I personally think that Obama's campaign style brought him this far and that he should remain as positive as possible.

I hate to see it too, but the negative ads work and not fighting back doesn't. I would prefer if Obama only went negative to counter lies/smears against him and does not go on the offense.

The problem for Obama is that he is the one saying that he is above politics as usual (I don't think either Hillary or ever said that) so when he starts going negative and slinging mud, people get quickly disillusioned (obviously not the hard core, but those who were swayed by his message and really believed he was different).

But I think it really did work for Obama against Hillary. I think that many voters turned to Obama because he ran a positive campaign and not the "politics as usual" campaign of Clinton.

I still think he can fight back without going negative. You don't have to fight dirty to get your point across and it's not "negative" IMO to point out the lies and half truths of your opponent.

Totally agree.

I see both candidates with adds of half truths and half lies...not just McCain doing it and not just Obama. They are both guilty of it. It does bother me more when Obama does it because his whole campain in the beginning was about not doing that no matter how bad it got. But he always did. And he is getting worse.

I get annoyed when the DEMS say you need to hate the other/REP candidate because they are spreading lies, and the REP say you need to hate the DEM candidate because he is spreading lies....what's up with that..:confused3

I find many things with both candidates that I do not like. That will not change.

Chobie I find it rude of you to come in here and tell us we have no respect for and how we should or should not treat our fellow HS that are know are supporting Obama. I and the others here have no problem with them at all. WE have no problem with them coming in here as it is still a thread they share with us non OS...They know that if they have a problem with what we are saying they can voice it without being bashed. Criticism of Obama is another issue however.

You have said of me a few times that you hate that I use the term "ALL" in regards to people on this thread...well maybe you need to follow your own advice and not speak for the HS that are now OS...

I found it rude when you would come to the OS thread just to tell us about how you are not planning on voting for him.

I have never done that ever...I don't ever come in there to say "Hay I came in here to tell you I am not voting for Obama"....I have come in there when I have stated in here, that I was not voting ,or not sure if I was going to or not and you and LUVDUKE go back into your thread after reading what I said in here and tell everyone what I said and twisting my words to suit your purpose....so please get it right.

You OS hate....yes hate anyone that has a different point of view than Obama's. You cant get over why other people in the US have a different point of view that your own. It gets so under your skins that you cant stomach it. You cant stand anyone making fun or saying anything against Obama....There are more people that don't like Obama than do....

There are REP and Ind and HS that don't like him. There are HS and Ind that feel forced to vote for him because they don't like Palin... not so much McCain but Palin. The best thing that happened to him was Palin because many that were going to vote McCain turned to Obama as the worst of the 2 evils. The only problem is that Palin lit a fire under the REP base and brought many REP out of the wood work....

So like it or not Obama is not the king of kings....only the best choice in your eyes and the far left of the OS that have been there from the beginning....and yes this is my opinion...take it or leave it...I don't care.:thumbsup2
