Hillary supporters Unit #3 ..yes we are still here!

Nope, still theory status. Not enough to turn it into a law. It's been too long since my last biology class or I'd go into more detail. If I remember correctly, there are two physic laws that counter it and that's one reason it's still at theory status.

Science was never my thing!:sad2:

But how can creationism aka Intelligent Design be a theory - if a theory is defined as:

A scientific theory is a well supported body of interconnected statements that explains observations and can be used to make testable predictions.

The main tenet of religion is "faith." It can't be used to make a testable prediction........

I got this from wikipedia - I'm enough of a dork to look it up!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evolution_as_theory_and_fact

But back to McCain\Palin. They both want to make choice illegal. I'm never ever voting for that - even if they probably won't be successful........

:thumbsup2 I am a FIRM Believer of Seperation of Church & State. But I do like that Christmas is a national Holiday!:lmao:

Christmas is great: We get to go to the movies and eat Chinese food. :thumbsup2

When she passes an Alaskan state law demanding every student study creationism than that’s when I’d worry. It doesn't sound like she has any current intentions of attempting to do so. Right now she says that she believes that an alternative theory such as creation should be brought up since evolution is a theory that has yet to be proven. She questions why only one theory – that’s not a fact – is taught as a fact? Why aren’t alternate theories taught? And I read somewhere that her suggestion of creationism in the schools isn’t a full study like evaluation is but she just thinks it should be brought up for topic as an alternate theory to explore. This is one issue that I think was blown out of proportion and created into a bigger deal than it really should be.

Creationism is a religious belief, not a scientific theory. Evolutionary theory is based on scientific principles, whether every detail of it is perfect or not. BTW, in general, almost ALL science is theory (it's even called the "theory of gravity") b/c science is a process of revision. However, no one should be forced to learn others religious teachings as if they were scientifc at public expense. Teach creationism in churches if you must, but not in taxpayer-supported schools. Palin's support of this kind of nonsense is part of why I can't vote for her.

Ummm where have you been...don't ya know that we are not allowed to call it Christmas anymore.....we are suppose to be politically correct and say Happy Holidays :santa: ho ho ho ...no I'm not calling you a ho :lmao:

I can understand THAT! What I cant understand is why they still call the "Theory of Evolution" a "Theory"????? I been to the Natural history Museum, aint it a FACT? I think I was out sick that day of school?

My head hurts!:headache:

:rotfl: mine is just so ready to pop :faint: ...I must tape it together so it does not exploid and all the politics comes ozzing out princess:

I remember discussion involving teaching creationism in a class that had to do with only belief. Creationism would only be one of many subjects from what I understood. I don't know what became of that but it might be a good compromise if presented in a fair way.

Just keep it out of the science classroom!!! It so doesn't belong there IMO.

Hopefully I am still welcomed as I have 100% came to the conslusion that I will be voting for McCain/Palin in November.

I am not worried that McCain will be another Bush, He will NOT be another Bush, but OBAMA will. I wish people would see Obama and Bush are one in the same (just opposite sides of the fence). Obama is all about me, me, me just like Bush is! I don't care if you are Dem or Rep but having a President all about themselves is NEVER good!

I am not worried that McCain is going to kick the bucket any time soon. I believe he will still be alive and kicking in 4 years (although only God knows the future)

One of my major issues with this election is health care (besides the war and economy) I do not like McCain's plan with improving the health care system, bascially it is leaving it the same as is. BUT even though I don't agree with his "plan" I can still vote for him because I read Obama's plan for health care and it is a a huge joke and will create more of a mess, IMO.

So out of my main issues:

Iraq/War --- I trust McCain over Obama to handle this with KNOWLEDGE
Economy -- well, I really don't think EITHER of them will make the economy better, IMO
Health Care --- again I am not thrilled with either plan, so they wash each other out.

So I guess to me I am voting mainly on who I feel can handle the war and Iraq better, for me it always comes back to McCain.

Now I do not agree with Sarah Palin on A LOT of her issues, but I do LOVE her festiness (reminds me of Hillary!) And talk about media bias. Whoa! It is disgusting and I feel sorry for her and her family. It is uncalled for what the media is doing to them.

But like I said before I am not going to vote for Obama just in case McCain dies in office because I don't want Palin as President. If the worse does happen & Palin becomes President, our Country will get through it. Although she would not be my first choice for President, it could be worse.

I would rather take a chance that McCain is going to live another 4 years then vote Obama into office. With Obama has President I shudder to think what our Country will be like in 4 years!

Don't get me wrong voting for McCain was not an easy decision. I discuss the pros and cons with my husband and read the FACTS on both candidates. Do I 100% agree with McCain, NO, Do I 100% trust McCain, NO --- but I trust McCain a lot more then I trust Obama. So I will go on election day and vote for McCain and know in my opinion I am voting who I think will be better at running our Country for the next 4 years.

I know not all agree with me on here and that is fine. What makes this Country great is every one has an OPINION and the right to vote how they see fit :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 ITA with everything you said.

I dont agree with everything McCain says either, but I dont agree with everything Obama says too.

In many instances I dont like what McCain has to say, like Job retraining. But I must admit that in this Global Economy, the days of getting a job with a company with good benes, and staying until you retire are LONG GONE. So in that aspect he has a point. Also I dont think the issue of "School Vouchers" should be a federal issue. I think its more of a State/Local issue. Their are just some Public schools that kids are forced to go too, that are HORRIBLE.

In some instances I do agree with Obama, but whatever his plans are they are either nonexistant or way to muddled for me to even remotely believe as 'doable'. Also he has his 'tax cut" calculator on his website. :woohoo: I will get $200, more a year in my pocket. I say, let the fed keep it, they need that 200 bucks more than me. I even played around with it, people making 125k a year will get MORE tax cuts % wise than people making 50k. And all these tax cust are in the 1 to 2 % range. People just hear tax cuts and go YEAH...but in reality, he is talking Chump change.

I look at it this way. The past 8 years everything that could possible go wrong did. What we NEED is a Leader who can , at best, normalize the situation. The next 4 years will be 'cleanup time' for whoever gets into office.

Obama is not that leader. I believe he will make matters worse.
McCain will be the 'calmer downer" president.

BTW In regards to your "If mcCain dies" post, I started a thread a few days ago. McCain had a TEAM of Drs from the Mayo Clonic ceetify that he is healthy, Obama refuses to release his Med Records.

I list the heath records of what we know of each candidate.;) There is a suprise at the end!

I am reading the ridiculous abundance of political threads and I have finally come to a conclusion: We need a do-over!

I think McCain/Lieberman v. Clinton/Biden would have been a nice race. What do you think?

I am so glad that you have been able to come to a decission...what a releaf for you. I am still up in the air but it's funny that when i hear Obama talk I cringe but I don't do that with McCain. OK sounds good to me...as long as Clinton is leading the ticket. I haven't heard much from Clark lately, but I used to like him.

I keep trying to figure out that if McCain wins and Obama does not that we will be going through this all over again in 4 years...the Obama vs. Hillary .....not sure if I can handle all this again. But if Obama wins and Hillary runs in 4 years what do you think of her chances.

If Obama is getting stuff done than he will be voted back in as it should be. But 4 years is not enough time to correct anything. I cant see her running in 2016...

So what do you think and who do you think she would want to win:confused3

An interesting article from the NY Times.

On the Campaign
The Real ’08 Fight: Clinton v. Palin?
By PATRICK HEALY

ST. PAUL — The names at the top of the ballot on Nov. 4 will be McCain and Obama, but the juicier battle this fall for an important group of swing voters — white working women with children — may be fought between the other two stars of the Republican and Democratic conventions, Sarah Palin and Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Ms. Palin, the governor of Alaska and Mr. McCain’s running mate, gave the best speech of her party’s convention on Wednesday night, drawing 37 million television viewers. And she made it clear that she aimed to win over undecided women voters with her own version of the history-making, “I’m one of you” message that Mrs. Clinton employed to great effect in her fight for the Democratic nomination.

Mrs. Clinton, meanwhile, has a legacy to protect: She has no intention of turning over her “18 million cracks in the glass ceiling,” as she called her supporters, to Ms. Palin, a social conservative whose policy positions are poison in Hillaryland. What is more, Mrs. Clinton wants to be the one to make history as the first woman to win at the top of a presidential ticket, be it in 2012 or 2016.

The question is, will Mrs. Clinton fight Ms. Palin to help her former rival, Mr. Obama? Clinton advisers say that Mrs. Clinton wants to do everything she can to elect Mr. Obama, so that she cannot be blamed if he loses — yet she also does not want to be too closely associated with him if he does lose, nor to tarnish her own image by taking on a rookie national politician like Ms. Palin and possibly coming up short.

Mrs. Clinton is heading to Florida on Monday to campaign for Mr. Obama. And while his advisers expect her to serve as a counterweight to the McCain-Palin ticket, Clinton advisers are emphatic that Mrs. Clinton does not plan to attack Ms. Palin. Whether that remains the case through the fall is an open question, especially if Ms. Palin starts doing as well with, say, women who watch “The View” as Mrs. Clinton did.

Mrs. Clinton and Ms. Palin have little in common beyond their breakout performances at the conventions and the soap opera aspects of their family lives. Mrs. Clinton always faces high expectations; Ms. Palin faced low expectations this week, and benefited from them. Mrs. Clinton can seem harsh when she goes on the attack; Ms. Palin has shown a knack for attacking without seeming nasty. Mrs. Clinton has a lot of experience; Ms. Palin, not so much. Mrs. Clinton is pantsuits; Ms. Palin is skirts.

Some Republican delegates in St. Paul saw starker differences.

“Sarah’s smile is sincere, which I never felt from Hillary, who has anger and resentment in her eyes,” said Ann Schmuecker, a delegate from Mountain Home, Arkansas, where she met the Clintons decades ago.

Friends of Mrs. Clinton, meanwhile, say she is the Obama campaign’s greatest weapon in pointing out Democrats’ differences with Ms. Palin and Mr. McCain.

“With two Supreme Court vacancies likely in the next four years, Senator Clinton will remind women it is not in their interests to allow Governor Palin to be one heartbeat from the presidency,” said Lanny Davis, a former special counsel to President Clinton and a long-time friend of Mrs. Clinton.

If the election remains close, the next president could very well be picked by what Chris Lehane, a Democratic strategist, calls “Wal-Mart Moms” — white working women with children living in the exurbs and in rural parts of battleground states, who may make up a swing sliver of the electorate.

“The real issue is whether soft Democrats and soft Republicans with a similar demographic profile, like white working women, will vote their economic self-interest and support Obama or whether McCain-Palin will be able to scare them away,” said Mr. Lehane, who was an adviser on the Gore campaign in 2000.

“In this context, Hillary and the former president are critical players, as they are a small sub-set of Democrats who can walk into a kitchen in Parma, Ohio, or Macomb County, Michigan, and instantaneously connect with those very kind of voters,” he added.

At the same time, it may be against Mr. Obama’s interests to turn the election into a proxy fight between Mrs. Clinton and Ms. Palin. Obama v. McCain may be more favorable turf; Mr. Obama does not want to get bogged down fighting a vice-presidential candidate, or rely too much on Mrs. Clinton carrying his water.

White female independents once disliked Mrs. Clinton, largely for cultural reasons, though many came to see her as an ally on their issues or admire her as a fighter. Ms. Palin might well end up emerging as an appealing heroine to these voters; the Obama campaign has no way of knowing right now. There is no evidence yet that Ms. Palin could deliver blocs of voters to Mr. McCain, so there is no incentive right now for Mr. Obama to want a Clinton-Palin slugfest to influence the electoral outcome.

Mike McCurry, who was press secretary to the 1988 Democratic vice-presidential candidate, Lloyd Bentsen, noted that the two men at the top of the ticket have by far the greatest power to direct the race.

“Aside from the vice-presidential debate and the ability of running mates to make a splash in select media markets, no one but Obama and McCain have control of the national storylines in the presidential race,” said Mr. McCurry, who was also a press secretary in the Clinton White House.

How much Mrs. Clinton wants to help Mr. Obama is another matter. Some of her aides note with a hint of resentment that Mr. Obama did not pick her as his running mate; he did not even vet her fully. Plus, they add, her fall calendar also includes campaigning for Senate Democratic candidates, not just for Mr. Obama.

Indeed, some Republicans in St. Paul predicted that Mrs. Clinton might not turn out to be “the great asset” that Obama advisers like to call her.

“Let me tell you something,” said Luanne Van Werven, a Republican delegate from Lynden, Wash., as the convention closed late Thursday night. “I secretly think Hillary loves Sarah Palin.”

Why?

“Because she wants Barack to lose, so she can run again, of course!” Ms. Van Werven said with a laugh. “I just bet Hillary was watching Sarah’s speech on T.V. Wednesday night and cheering, ‘You go, girl!’ ”

An interesting article from the NY Times.

I think it is a silly article full of speculation and not one iota of factual information.

Also, why is it "Mrs." Clinton and "Ms." Palin? Was that deliberate?

I like this thread - calm, intelligent discussion and analysis. Sorry if I sound patronizing, but I commend you for remaining civil in the cesspool of political threads.

Thank you. But if you would like to keep that opinion, please do not read thread 1 and 2. :teeth: We try to keep it civil on here, the main posters on here are great level headed people (except for the guy with the green hair. Don’t trust men with green hair! :rolleyes1 j/k ) However, there are times we're invaded and things aren't so civil.

An interesting article from the NY Times.

Of course when I go back to grab the news story that I was reading earlier - I can't find it. Figures. Maybe I'll see it tomorrow... it was one of the top news stories on Yahoo earlier today. It was saying that Clinton will not be an attack dog on Palin - that the women that Palin attracts are not the ones that Clinton would. Clinton will still be going after McCain and working to attract the working middle class that she usually attracts but there will be no going after Palin.

And yeah, what was up with the “Mrs/Ms” stuff? It's Senator Clinton and Governor Palin. Did you notice that Clinton was “Mrs” while Palin was “Ms” even though they’re both married?
