heh. I'm just mean enough that I think this is hilarious.:lmao: DB has become my least favorite Dem in recent months. (Actually I think it started with Gore's campaign) Guess I'm not the only one that feels that way.

I was discussing the election with my family over the weekend. I realized that one of the things that worries me most of all about an Obama presidency is that Dems are poised to have total control of the Legislative branch. If we put Obama in there, it really will be like W all over again. An ego maniac with no one to stand up to him. I loathe McCain, but if he wins and we can hamstring him with Dem controlled congress, we just might survive his presidency. Historically our economy does better when we've got that kind of a gridlock.

This is a huge, huge factor that I think about too.

I am not putting McCain signs in my yard and I don't jump for joy supporting him, but out of Obama and McCain I feel our Country will be better in the long run with McCain in charge.

This is my number one issue actually. I don't think either party should have complete control of all 3 divisions of power in the leg. branch. A little give and take should be a part of our administration.

I am getting so tired of this election and all the junk attached to it and how it is making all the supporters including me a whack job. Every time I hear Obama talk I cringe because I dont believe one thing out of his mouth and the VP pick for McCain is so far right that It is pushing me away from him.

Personally she scare me. I think she is a bright woman that could get a lot done but some of her beliefs are so not mine.

so what's a woman like me to do. I am so sick and tired of being pulled back and forth. I don't want to not vote....yet who to vote for is crazy.

I refuse to just vote for the party that I am registered with just because I am a Democrat is no reason as far as I'm concerned to do that.

I will be listening to both Palin and McCain speak tonight and tomorrow and will watch the debates very closely. If Palin does not show me what I want to see than all cards are off the table.

I also hate how Dems are going after her because she is a woman with 5 kids and that her daughter is pregnant. The womanizers are also out in full force. Funny how so many find it terrible that she is climbing the later of power being a mom and all...and so many saying that how dare she when she has 5 kids :eek: ...well what about the men that have done it.....they have had kids and so does Obama....so what's up with that:confused3

anyway I am getting worn out from all this. Where the heck is Hillary.....:hug: at this point if she was VP than I would have voted for the ticket.

Geesh

We'll have a dem controlled congress - but it most likely won't be veto proof. Which will mean 4 more years of the dem agenda not being realized......

Didn't FDR have a dem congress for all those years? I'm going to have to look that up!

Well so much for my vacation from the political threads. It seems impossible to be on this board and not open one up even by accident. ;)

Palin...what a joke. Now I really have no idea for whom I will be voting come November. :confused3

For those who think the country is "safer" with mcCain: I don't see where you're coming from with this. Everywhere that Obama has been (Harvard Law Review, comm. organizer, etc.), people have spoken of his abilities as a uniter in the midst of *******. THAT's what we've needed for years. Opiinion of the US abroad is the pits and we can't fight terrorism and other world issues without friends. We need a man who will show the world we're serious about finding tough but fair resolutions to world problems (of which terrorism and the underlying conditions that encourage it are a major part). McCain is just "business as usual." And I fail to see how he won't be like Bush--he's proven way too many times over the last eight years that he will do just what the GOP tells him (including picking Palin). He is NO LONGER the independent that he once was. He's a complete sell-out. Mind you, this is spoken by someone who once really liked him and thought he COULD be a uniter. He's not anymore.

I haven't seen any of what you mentioned. As far as I can tell no one has come out and said what a great person Obama is. (Disclaimer: I've been busy lately so I may have missed it.)

I flirted voting for McCain. But Obama's selection of Joe Biden made me much more comfortable to vote for him.

McCain's selection of Palin? I couldn't believe he chose someone so inexperienced in national and foreign affairs....... I can't take a chance on them.

I dunno about national affairs thing. But I know she has no Foreign Affair experience, but that aint a MAJOR concern of mine. I voted for Bill Clinton in '94 and he had zilch foreign Experience also.

I like Biden on a personal level, he always did come across as the guy next door. But I was always peeeeeeeeeeved at him for screwing up the Senate hearings for Clarence Thomas. Bidens screwup was the reason Clarence thomas got through, and turned the whole Supreme Court hearings into a circus. HATE that he is in the pockets of all the Evil Bank Lobbyist, and he wrote the Bankrupcy Bill that put the screws to Middle America (again favoring the Banks).

WHY DIDNT THE SD's JUST GO WITH THE BEST CANDIDATE HILLARY?????:mad:

Foreign Experience used to not be a big thing with me either - but we've got two wars going....... What if something happens to McCain? She is not qualified to take over........ :shudder:

I didn't know much about the bankruptcy bill - so I googled it - and found a blog entry on democratic underground:

I probably would have voted the same way Sen. Biden did because
1.)we desperately needed bankruptcy reform;

2.)the bill helped save many small business owners, and god knows they can use some help in this current corporate-dominated economic climate;

3.)Joe Biden doesn't deal with lobbyists which, unlike the "top tier" candidates, is why he doesn't have much campaign cash, and what he does have is all coming from ordinary Americans, so the decision to vote in favor of this bill wasn't so he could stuff his pockets w/corporate cash;

4.)the Republicans were in charge and in order to get anything done you sometimes have to go along with bills that you aren't in total agreement on;

5.) Joe Biden is not one to sit on his hands doing nothing waiting years for the political tide to turn. If you want to criticize him for that, go ahead.

Personally, I respect people of action, and often there are things in bills that legislators don't like, but they vote for the bill for the things they do like. That's democracy in action. Improvements can always be made later. When it comes to a president, I like someone who is strong, determined, and knows more than one way how to move the ball forward.

I find myself agreeing with that blogger. But then again - I always liked Joe Biden.

I could never ever vote for Palin. She is so opposite to what I believe in, and what my original candidate, Hillary Clinton represented.........

I still think we'll see Hillary in 2012........

I like Biden and Palin seems like a right wing nutjob (creationist? puhlease!) but the bankruptcy bill was a disgrace and a cop out to the credit card companies.

If Obama wins, Hillary will not run in 2012.

Thanks - I've been sneaking in to post throughout my "working" day - and made a typo!!!

I meant 2016 as my signature denotes... ;)

And my prediction - look for the bankruptcy bill to be "fixed" during an Obama\Biden adminstration. They could try to fix it during a McCain\Palin administration - but McCain will just veto it - the Dems still won't have enough votes to override the veto........

:lmao: I really like to think I am open minded about religious beliefs. And I really dont care about people who believe the Creation thing. BUT I do have a problem with people in a position of Power who believe in this.

If Obama wins, Hillary will not run in 2012.
Gotcha!;)

OK, I will correct myself. I do not care how you worship your God, just don't make me do it in the same way. She can believe whatever she wants. She can even be in power and believe whatever she wants. It is just that in my experience, people with beliefs like hers tend to want to legislate MY beliefs. That is what I object to.

When she passes an Alaskan state law demanding every student study creationism than that’s when I’d worry. It doesn't sound like she has any current intentions of attempting to do so. Right now she says that she believes that an alternative theory such as creation should be brought up since evolution is a theory that has yet to be proven. She questions why only one theory – that’s not a fact – is taught as a fact? Why aren’t alternate theories taught? And I read somewhere that her suggestion of creationism in the schools isn’t a full study like evaluation is but she just thinks it should be brought up for topic as an alternate theory to explore. This is one issue that I think was blown out of proportion and created into a bigger deal than it really should be.

Unfortunately, that would also open the door for discussion of just about every "theory" out there, wouldn't it?

Remember, that there is much higher probability of "scientific" theory being accurate than "religious" theory. Keep scientific theory in schools, and religious theory in church. If a parent is concerned about their child not getting adequate training in their religious beliefs, take them to a church, synagogue, mosque or other location that teaches your beliefs for instruction. That is part of raising your children. Schools are for science, and math, religious venues are for religion.

I can understand THAT! What I cant understand is why they still call the "Theory of Evolution" a "Theory"????? I been to the Natural history Museum, aint it a FACT? I think I was out sick that day of school?:eek: :eek:

My head hurts!:headache:

Good Point

I went to Catholic school, and was firmly taught the 'Theory" of Evolution. Heck, we were even taught that Adam & Eve is just a parable.
Not to mention that 'Inherit the Wind' is performed in Thousands of Catholic HS play every year.

Nope, still theory status. Not enough to turn it into a law. It's been too long since my last biology class or I'd go into more detail. If I remember correctly, there are two physic laws that counter it and that's one reason it's still at theory status.
