Hijinks & Shenanigans but not much Mayhem@The Dark Side+Disney:Link to DL/Hawaii TR

YES- I am truly that deranged! Once you have a set that you have put together and taken apart, the only way to be able to possibly rebuild it again once the pieces have been intermingled with other sets is to have all the pieces sorted by color. My family has spent HOURS sorting Legos into the correct bins, and I must say that it is a somewhat addictive pastime.

Please don’t think less of me!

I only think more of you now! A woman after my own heart.

Love that you jumped in with your clothes on. LOL

SAB looks beautiful at night! I think I just found another reason to look forward to going to the BC in August! Come on, August...

:rotfl::rotfl:Oh Dee you made my morning :rotfl2:
I saw the cartoon at the beginning and though "Uh Oh Dee doesn't drink much normally- this could be BAD" :scared1: I should have known better :lmao:
Think of it this way-you were having such a relaxing, carefree time at the BC you forgot you had clothes on - now if you:thumbsup2u had forgotten to PUT clothes on that would have been soooooooo much worse !

As always your pictures are just gorgeous!!!

Janet I'm pleased you are heading back to BC in august:)
I was thinking of you the other week as I finished a wee hat I'd been knitting and I remembered our retirement plans for knitting on the boats to/from DTD :goodvibes

Well I thought it was gonna be a lot worse than that.
you must have been exhausted after your commando touring day LOL Maybe you needed some coffee. JK :)
That totally sounds like something I would do.
Glad you got to meet up w another DISer. I'm sure she didn't even notice.

Dee - Legos Legos everywhere. Love it! My boys (who are now both engineering majors) spent many many hours with Legos. I am sitting here looking at their Star Wars Collection. Very fun Ben is a collector!

And the pool - your attire looks fitting for a later night swim :) The pool looked so welcoming, great pics.

Welcome Back Dee!pixiedust: Glad you all had such a great time in Mexico! I checked out your FB photos (and sent a friend request in case you were wondering who that stranger named Pam is) The turtle pics were my favorite is well. I mean who doesn't love sea turtles:lovestruc.
Nice round up to a day at Downtown Disney. I am always amazed at all the Lego sculptures they have.
Lol at the jumping in with your clothes on! Sounds like something I would do, since I am a pool fanatic!

Oh Dee, just a little eager to dive in? :rotfl2: It could have been worse... you could have taken off your outerwear and forgotten your bathing suit. It actually looks like you are wearing one of those half surf suits.

Of all the times we've stayed at YC/BC we finally went into SAB last August and wondered what took us so long to dive in. I loved the sandy bottom pool while Em loved the lazy river. I imagine it is even better at night with Illuminations lighting up the sky! Very nice.

I love that there was a Dismeet at that moment since it makes your story even funnier!

As for boys and legos.... oh my. When my guys were little we bought these plastic storage cases to keep the thousands of little pieces organized and the OCD in me would sort them by size and colors for each case!! Luckily for my boys, OCD is not contagious or hereditary! :lmao: I remember strange little creations being shown to me that I had no clue what they were but all of them were declared "that's so awesome!" I miss those days.

LOVE this story about your pj party in the pool! :rotfl2: Funny, because last week, I had to wear my swimsuit cover-up as a pj top! I had this efficient plan to use my new 5K t-shirt as my pj top. But we hopped on a flight a day early (Wednesday) and the runDisney expo to obtain said shirt wasn't until Thursday! The only sufficiently comfy extra top in my suitcase was my swimsuit cover-up, so I wore that as a (very long) pj top. Of course, a couple days later I put my swimsuit cover up on to go to the pool, and our oldest says, "Aren't those your pjs?"

That is funny that you did something similar!!!

Great minds and all that!

:thumbsup2

:rotfl2: I know I shouldn't laugh because stuff happens... But :rotfl2:

Seriously though, don't feel bad. If I had a dime for every time I did something like that I could buy WDW.

And on the bright side, at least you didn't run into anyone you knew............... oops.

It was a real "D'OH!" moment!

No problem with a little good natured ribbing.

:goodvibes

Thank you! I love positive feedback from a fellow organizational freak!

The pool really is beautiful at night, and in the summer, I find it to be more refreshing in the evening than it is in the afternoon.

:thumbsup2

Thanks for the nice comments about the photos.

I admire people who are good at knitting, crocheting and sewing. Talents I envy!

On the scale of things, it could be much worse! "May all my vacation screw-ups be as benign as this one"

It was really fun meeting up with Cathy, and we ran into one another a few more times during the trip.

:woohoo:

That's good to hear! I could possibly see Ben gravitating to an engineering future, and he can say Legos were partly responsible.

We have a large Star Wars collection, many Harry Potter sets and now a growing version of Middle Earth.

I was more disappointed than embarrassed since my sleeping shorts were now drenched!

:rolleyes1

Thanks for taking a look at my pictures and giving me a heads up about your FB request. I WAS wondering who that was. :lmao:

It was a long day! AK/HS/DTD/TRex and Stormalong Bay.

:)

Thanks for putting my dilemma into perspective. Better to have too many clothes on than to risk skinny-dipping!

I just read your update about your visit to SAB. Hope you will be coming back now that you have taken the plunge!

It was a great DISmeet, in spite of me dripping all over the deck and my new friend.

:lmao:

So, how was the view from the jib slide? Your swim during the fireworks sounds really nice, in spite of the bathing attire. ;) I think that a night time swim is really relaxing. :)

Dee, Your Mexico pictures look lovely. And it sounds like the timing was perfect. With the kids all out of the house I miss having legos around. I almost want to go out and buy me some. I would just tell hubby they are for when the grandsons get older. I hate wearing bathing suits so I can see myself forgetting to take clothes off before jumping in. SAB looks so nice and relaxing at night.

Great question! I have actually gone back and edited my post. The first picture with fireworks is from the pool, but the next two were from the stairs to the slide. The view was pretty good, and "fortunately" the line was slow moving so I could enjoy the show.

:rotfl2:

Swimming at night is really special.

Thanks for the comments about my vacation photos. It was a great week to be away!

I really like that Ben plays with Legos, but they really are out of control at our house.

I enjoyed my night swim.

::yes::

Bwahahahahaha!!!!! I just assumed your clothes were wet from putting then on over your wet suit. But thinking back to that moment I do remember thinking, "Hmmmmm. She looks pretty wet!"
Blonde moment!!!!!!! Duh!

That's hysterical! What's even funnier is I spent five minutes searching your pool pics to see if my kids were in there. Then I remembered they came to the pool AFTER me!

Oh how I wish your family would be there when we are this summer. We would constantly laugh! Megan would probably fancy Nate. And Jay and Ben would get along well too, as would our husbands! CA and Hawaii is a MUCH better trip though!

We are back from Florida.

First, I loved your Mexico picture updates on FB. :thumbsup2

I so would have done the same thing with my shirt and shorts...especially at night.

Great pics of SAB, and what awesome pictures of he fireworks from Illuminations.

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: for an unexpected DIS meet. :) (I have that same shirt that she is wearing).

Oh boys and legos! I know we will be there before long. I am VERY organized and OCD so I will also have them organized in bins by colors. I do not think you are crazy. We got Gavin some Mega Blocks for Christmas and he loves them. I guess next is Duplos and then after that we graduate to legos. I still can't believe how pricy those lego sets are! That is a great way to get them home. I didn't even think about how large some of those boxes are.

That sounds like a great way to get back to the Beach Club. I seriously hate trying to get to and from Downtown Disney! To be honest, I don't even really like Downtown Disney and I don't think we will be going there at all in May.

What a cliffhanger! (glad I didn't have to wait hehe)

oh my goodness, I just laughed out loud. That is too funny. Now I get the refernce to you from Brenda's TR. You just wanted to have a pj pool party!

Stormalong Bay looks so cool at night. I love night time swims at the resorts. Sigh, why have we not stayed at the BC or YC yet?

Illuminations + Stormalong Bay = winning!

I'm sorry your comfy sleep shorts were wet :(

Watching the fireworks from Illuminations while floating around in SAB seems like a great idea to me! How very cool! I hope someday I get a chance to try it. And, for the record, I love that you jumped in the pool in your clothes. You go girl!

I am glad you had a great time in Mexico.

I like your sorting idea for legos. We might have to do that too. Claire is really into them now too. We have many sets made and Some half taken apart and I was trying to figure out how to keep some order to it. I'll have to go buy some bins.

That is too funny about swimming in your clothes. It sounds just like something I would do too.

Ok, my mom and I have this weird, unintentional tradition that every summer at the beginning of the season, we end up in a pool with our clothes on. Usually it starts with the two of us sitting side by side at the edge of a pool and just being unable to contain it and jumping in! Are you related to us? Any Acadian blood in you? :lmao:
Funny story nevertheless, and as you can imagine, I'm not judging because I can relate! :rotfl:
Watching the fireworks from the pool sounds so incredible.
Yay for Dismeets!!

UGH! It has not been a great DIS week! I have been trying to keep up with my subscriptions and haven't had time to update or even reply to this report. So sorry!

I did start my report for my Mexico trip over on the discussion board for the Barceló, the resort where we stayed. A lot of the same pictures I have on Facebook. I have also posted a couple of Food Porn chapters so far, too.

Check it out, only if you are interested. No pressure!

No Camera's Were Harmed in the Making of This Vacation

I'll try to get an update about our morning at Magic Kingdom posted soon, but I am still looking for my trip notebook...

I am sorry we will be missing you during your trip, too. I know we could have a great time together!

Welcome home. Wishing you a speedy spring and NO MORE SNOW!

Thanks for the nice comments about the Mexico pictures. We had a fantastic trip!

I think nighttime is my favorite time at the pool! I was surprised and pleased the first time I saw the fireworks from there.

Win-Win!

You know what. Ben still plays with his Megablocks sometimes. He builds things when he is playing with cars or other things.

I found some pictures from one of our Lego Organization Sessions:

If it weren't for the boys (Legos and T-Rex), we would not go to DTD at all. I don't really like to shop and I definitely don't like the buses and I don't like spending time there when we could be at a park!

I know that you will get to the Yacht and Beach Club some day!

:)

Well, I didn't mean to jump into the pool with my clothes on! But once I was in it didn't make sense to take them off- they were already as wet as they would get!

SAB is magical at night! And the fireworks just add to that.

That is too funny about swimming in your clothes. It sounds just like something I would do too.

Now our big Lego challenge is that not only are they the boys' favorite toys, but the cats love them too. The cats are always batting pieces around the house, or carrying them in their mouths, or trying to get them when they go under the couch. They especially love the heads, hats and hair. And ropes. And bushes.

I am usually a lot more "together" than that, so I was surprised that I jumped in the pool fully clothed.

:(

Yay for Dismeets!!

Well, cousin, we certainly could be related. I am French-Canadian on both sides of my family- my dads grandparents came over from Canada, but I'm not sure where.

My Aunt Jeanne has traced our Geneology back quite a ways and a common ancestor in a lot of families in our area is Jean Cote from Quebec (early 1600's)

My husbands family also had a tradition when the three brothers were younger. Their grandparents lived on a pond and the rule was "No Swimming Until Memorial Day"

Well, every year, the boys would push each other into the pond, in their clothes, before they were allowed.

:rotfl2:

So my husband may be related, too!

I am still missing my trip notebook, :worried: so I am relying on my pictures and memory for this update.

Thursday July 18

Today’s plans included early Extra Magic Hour at the MK, an 11:00 brunch at Kona Café, more fun at MK followed by a monorail ride and more fun at EPCOT. We would then return to the Beach Club to get ready for dinner with a very special friend.

As usual, we were up and ready early and hit the club level lounge for breakfast when it opened at 7 am. This was the busiest we have seen the lounge- other families were getting an early start as well.

We got down to the bus stop and there were a lot of people waiting. I think we did not make it onto the first bus, but there was one right behind it. I don’t have pictures of the opening show, so I am guessing that we just missed it when we arrived.

You can never have too many pictures of that glorious castle!

We headed straight for Tomorrowland and Space Mountain to satisfy our thrill junkie(s). Pulled a FP and got right in line for the ride.

The return time was within the hour, so we had time to battle our old friend “Bad Cow” AKA Zurg.

I can never get good pictures on this ride, but I almost like these with the boys’ silhouettes.

A couple of redneck ride photos.

When we were done with Buzz, we had 4 minutes until our FP window for Space opened. I told the family

“You have 4 minutes for a bathroom break! Go now! Meet at the FP return line”

Everyone took care of business and we met back up seconds before the clock display changed to our FP time.

Let’s Ride!

Next on the agenda - More Mountains!

Instead of heading through Fantasyland to Liberty Square to Frontierland, I suggested that we take the path by the castle.

Alas, this is as close as we got to New Fantasy land on this trip!

Continuing on:

Continued in Next Post

Continued from Previous Post

We entered into the past:

When we arrived at Frontierland, I believe we picked up FP for Big Thunder Mountain since our window was now open again, and then we proceeded to Splash.

When we got the queue area, we saw those dreaded matching colored shirts and flags. A tour group was gathering in front of us! We stepped up our pace, pulled ahead of them and got into line before they made it into the line.

PHEW!

After splashdown, we headed to the Wildest Ride in the Wilderness.

I love the new interactive queue and the fantastic views you get from the line now.

I am guessing here, but I believe that we did the stand-by line immediately followed by using our FP here.

At this point, it was about 30 minutes from our brunch reservation at Kona. We split up - Ben and I headed to the monorail and Mark and Nate off to secure a FP. They had a few options, and the one they chose would depend on the return time- we needed something in the 12:30 to 1:30 range for when we would be returning to the MK.

We planned on meeting up at the Poly.

Ben and I encountered a parade on our way out.

We arrived at an empty monorail station.

What would arrive first? A monorail or the rest of my family?

Next Up- Best Breakfast in the World!

Finally getting caught up with everyone again but first things first-

HAPPY SAINT PATRICK'S DAY :goodvibes

Hope you all have fun today :)

Ok is it fine if I admit I have Lego room envy :lmao: Seriously I would spend my days in your lego room playing ::yes::

You got off to a great start in MK and as always are super organised. Love the "pictures on the move" as I always feel like I'm walking along with you!

I have a question -if you had to choose between big thunder and space mountain for the fun factor which would you pick? I've never done SM and the 1 time I managed to get my daughter on BTM she was a teeny tiny 4 yr old and though she was going to fall out of the car. The words "mummy tried to KILL me " may have been uttered between sobs to my husband when daughter and dad were reunited :lmao: She obviously brain-washed her brother into believing this was an accurate experience of this ride as until now I have never got anyone back on there but as you know my birthday gift from my son has been agreed and I get to choose 1 ride each park that he might otherwise not do ;) So now I can't decide?????????:rotfl:
