Hijinks & Shenanigans but not much Mayhem@The Dark Side+Disney:Link to DL/Hawaii TR

Just when you think you know all the short forms and catch phrases of the Dis, a new one comes along. Pooh-Karma - love it.

It is nice to get Pooh Karma after waiting in line behind a baby in need of a diaper change. (And bad mom, bad mom)

Nice shots of the GF construction!

Love the pooh karma! Who leaves their kids like that? Or doesn't know where they are staying? :scared:

We missed the jungle cruise last time because adventure land was scary crowded and with a little one we were hitting the park heavy in the morning and bailing when the crowds hit. I plan to fit it in this next trip for sure!

I didn't know that rain meant your fast doesn't expire. I assume this is just for that day? I am still such a newbie. Of course now that I am starting to figure out all the ends and outs magic + will probably be on full swing and who knows how that will alter things! :goodvibes:

Seriously? The same woman who didn't know where she was staying left her kids in line and didn't say a word? to anyone? including her kids? :faint: Was she impaired or something? :confused3 Stuff like that just affirms my belief that there are a lot of stupid people out there. Sheesh!

Rain has a way of putting a crimp in plans, but I'm glad you were able to use all your Fps. You know I LOVE BTMMR!

Ugh - that picture with the sea of humanity was a little overwhelming for me. Yikes! I'm sure the rain helped with that.

Thank goodness for pooh karma and a quick monorail arrival. I can't wait to see what the VGF look like in October when they are completed.

Dee, great pictures! I guess the mom figured you could handle 2 more?!? What is up with that???

The Mom left the line???? Holy cow. Did the kids seem to know anything where she went. A bit scary!

We were pretty shocked when we noticed she was gone!

:scared1:

I don't know what or whether she said something to the kids. They actually didn't seem to be in any distress. Maybe this had happened before???

:scared1: :scared1:

What a lot of Pooh-Karma after the start of your afternoon. :thumbsup2

I can't believe a mother left her two kids there. I know it's Disney, but still?

Front row on BTMR...awesome.

You really lucked out with the monorail with all the horror stories of it stopping for long periods of time.

Anxious to hear if you make it to your dining reservation.

Things definitely started getting better for the rest of the afternoon following the ride on Pooh. It was at that point we realized what a big impact the weather can have at MK- a lot of stuff closes and then the indoor rides get really busy.

I may have momentarily misplaced my children while at Disney, but I never intentionally left them!!!

Front seat on BTM is our favorite. Of course, we always let the boys have that row.

We were very happy at the way the monorails showed up when we needed them.

:cool1:

Until you wrote that, I didn't realize that our pooh-karma may actually have been pooh-karma

It didn't occur to me, but if the mom didn't know the name of the place she was staying, what are the chances the kids know? I can see that interview at Child Lost & Found

"Where is your mom?"

"With our sister in the bathroom"

"Where are you staying?"

"We don't know"

We don't like the queue line for Jungle Cruise, so we always FP it. The return time is usually not too far out, so we can usually find something to do while waiting- Swiss Family Treehouse, Dole Whip Float, Pirates.

My family does not deal well with "idle" time while at Disney.

Just to clarify about the weather and Fast Passes. The reason that the we were able to use our Fast Passes for Big Thunder Mtn and Jungle Cruise after the return times was that the rides were both closed earlier in the day, during our scheduled return time. The outdoor rides don't always close with just rain, but there were a lot of rumbles of thunder and we saw a couple of flashes of lightning.

THAT closes outdoor rides!

::yes::

Way to go on the Pooh Karma :goodvibes:
Crazy to just leave young kids alone in the queue like that:0

The whole Pooh experience was bizarre. We chose Pooh because we figured there wouldn't be much of a wait. When we got in line the advertised wait time was 20 minutes. Tolerable.

But with the line not moving, there were a bunch of restless kids, annoyed parents, disgusting smells.

Pooh-Karma made up for our unpleasant hour in line, though.

Unfortunately, as we learn later in the trip- Karma can work both ways!

It was unclear to us whether she had said anything to the kids about where they would meet- either back in line or in the dump shop at the end of the ride. Never saw either kid pull out a cell phone.

I get really nervous when members of my family separate at theme parks and although we have cell phones, I usually make a plan B just in case- loss of phone, dead battery, poor signal.

I know you love BTM!!! You have great taste! It is my favorite Disney ride.

Yes, that is certainly a scary crowd picture.

I thought of you when I posted the GF pictures. I don't know if you had already planned your stay there when I took them (mid-July). Can't remember when you reported the change in your travel plans.

:woohoo:

Dee, great pictures! I guess the mom figured you could handle 2 more?!? What is up with that???

Thanks!

Yeah, I'm good with two kids.

:lmao:

seriously??!!! Did that mom think b/c she talked to you for a min. you now could watch her kids?? Did the kids know that she left and where she went? I know its Disney but really!

Happy you got some Pooh-karma! you deserve it- an hour wait!!! Ugh!!

oh and my kids love the LAST seat on BTMRR!! It feels faster for them. Lol

Sorry about you having to deal with all that rain, but boy I love the pictures of the clouds. I like the sun out when I am at Disney but I do love the castle with dark clouds in back ground.
And how does a person not know where they are staying? I mean if it was a last minute choice to stop for the day, I would have passed at seeing those clouds. And really to just leave two young kids. This is where you need two adults when you have young kids plus a baby.

Isn't the new interactive queue at the Haunted Mansion neat?! I love it and it sure makes for a more entertaining wait.

I find it extremely odd that the mother in front of you didn't even know where here family was staying. Makes you wonder how in the world she takes care of her kids. Wait! Apparently, she didn't since she abandoned two of them in line for Pooh.

Yay for Pooh Karma and a fast monorail!

Oh look, there appears to be a few people there with you that day. :scared1:

Holy moly, don't people realize that when it's raining they're supposed to leave.

Oh my goodness, the woman left her 2 small children behind???!!! I was thrown by the fact that she didn't know where they were staying, but just... wow.

As far as the unattended kids... Meh! There are plenty of unattended kids left in Walmart!! ;) When I was a kid and my Mom was beating the racks at a clothing store my sister and I used to take off and play hide and go seek in the racks and racks of clothing. It was SO MUCH FUN!!

That Mom probably had to schlep off and change the diaper. She doesn't sound like she is the brightest bulb in the lamp and her lack of organizational skills seemed to be catching up with her ...Eh?? If I was the kid in that situation I would be glad my Mom left me in line. I'll bet a million pooh's that she had to find the bathroom, wait in the line and do her dirty deed before she made it back to the kids. It's not something I would have done but when you are not that bright and dividing yourself between 3 kids it's what some people do...

As for the Pooh Karma, now that that Starbucks is opened a lot more people are going to be experiencing that POOH karma after they finish their coffees.

Mother of the year is right. Now somebody just needs to find her to give her award! Incredible!

Fun afternoon but wow some long lines and what is going on with the HM line?

Which would be hard since she probably doesn't even know where she is?!?!?! Lol

Wow! I can't believe that the mom just left the line! I mean, I know that Disney World is a pretty safe place but you just never know. Those poor kids must have been so confused!!

Anyway, love the Pooh-Karma!:lmao: It's great how the rest of you afternoon went pretty smoothly considering you had a big bump in the road.

The new interactive line for HM looks really cool! We opted out on our trip because we were excited to have a 15 min wait for the line!

Awesome pics! :goodvibes

Thanks!

:)

She didn't even ask us or mention she was leaving! I probably wouldn't have minded- we weren't going anywhere- but I would have asked where she was going, how she was going to meet back in line and I would have taken her phone number.

I couldn't believe it was an hour wait for WTP! Our threshold wait for any ride is about 25 minutes, so to spend more than twice that time was unacceptable, and to add insult to injury, it was for WTP! It's no Space Mountain!

Front row on BTM is our first choice, but back row would be the second.

:thumbsup2

I noticed that when I posted the photos. The clouds make for some dramatic pictures, but it was really lousy for touring the park. The afternoon went from overcast, to light rain, to heavy rain, to light rain, to heavy rain and so on.

The mom did say they were about 20 minutes away, I think. Does she just get in the car and drive, hopefully in the right direction, and stops when she sees the hotel?

I don't know.

:headache:

The HM queue area is really cute. We didn't really play much, but it was neat to see all of the different things they added.

The whole interaction with that woman was odd!

:confused3

I probably should have mentioned that to the crowd. Um. Time to go now!

I'm pretty sure that it is somewhere pretty close to the front of the Official Parenting Manual- "Don't leave your kids unattended in the Happiest (and most crowded) Place on Earth. "

:lmao:

Note to self: Take childrearing tips from NinjaMom with a grain of salt! ;) Maybe limes and tequila, too.

Fun afternoon but wow some long lines and what is going on with the HM line?

I hope she remembered where she parked the car. "It's a white mid-sized rental with Florida plates in the Goofy or Pluto or Donald lot or something like that"

The only thing I can think of the HM lines is that that was one of the few attractions in the area that was open because of the weather, so everyone flocked there.

Which would be hard since she probably doesn't even know where she is?!?!?! Lol

On the plus side- this chapter of the trip report practically wrote itself!

I have to say, the ride queues are some of the places where Disney really trumps Universal. The queues have really fun, interesting details and they are set up so the most people can be undercover from either blazing sun or pouring rain.

:thumbsup2

At 10, I could see leaving them in line to go do a diaper change with STRICT instructions, depending on the kids themselves and comfort level in that scenario. Especially if it wasn't moving at all and you figured you could be back before they actually got on or if you'd left them with a cell phone. Tough call, pull them all out and have the older ones throw a fit or try to take care of the younger one as quickly as you can. I certainly have let my kids ride stuff that I don't want to and meet them at the end though they were slightly older (10 and 11). What seems very odd to me is that the kids didn't speak up as to where the mom went!

Still I am glad that the pooh-karma happened and the rest of the afternoon went without a hitch. Impressed with the squishing in of the JC given the timeframe.

Dee, I love so many things about this update!

1) Pooh Karma - excellent!
2) Mother of the Year and the fact that we are all shocked by BOTH the child abandonment and the "I don't know where I'm staying comment." :)
3) The Ninja Mom response I was waiting for after reading your update, which did not disappoint!
4) The treehouse! It must be the year of the treehouse, because we rarely if ever set foot in a Disney treehouse. But sure enough, DS6 decided it was essential at Disneyland and we spent a good 15 minutes in the treehouse while our FP window for Splash started to slip away. We did make it to Splash during our window, but with two grumpy teens wondering how much time a 6-year-old could possibly want to spend in that treehouse. Answer: Enough time to annoy teen brothers!

My prediction for Epcot and your ADR - I think you made it! That Pooh Karma can't run out yet!

Dee I think with your Pooh Karma you'll be fine for your dinner reservation at Epcot!!

I've been waiting for this update! And now I can say .... wow! Yeah, mother of the year for sure. I'm sure she had zero Pooh karma the rest of the trip. I hope she found her kids.

I actually love the thunderstorms in Disney. As long as I have a poncho or an overhang that is.

Enjoyed your update (and humor) as always!!
