hifs vs. hi sunspreee

I have read lots of great stuff about the holiday inn family suites, but what about the holiday inn sunspree? or are some of you who have posted interchangeably talking about sunspree already.
We are staying there for 5 nights the week before Easter and are really excited. I'd like to know especially about convenience -- if any -- to wdw locations. Thanks much <IMG WIDTH="15" HEIGHT="15" SRC="/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif" alt="razz">

Good question!

I have never stayed at either hotel, but, I have a good friend who has stayed at the Sunspree Resort and loved it! I have read alot of positive posts about the Family Suites location.

I know the rates are pretty similar. The Family Suites location is newer. Family Suites although close to Disney by car, I don't think it's within walking distance to anything. I think the Sunspree Resort is near the Crossroads shopping plaza.

What I did like is that the Sunspree has a childrens program starting at 3 years old. The Family Suites program starts at 4. It just helps to keep the little one occupied with resort activities the days not spent at the parks.

This information is just from me looking at the websites and reading alot of posts. I haven't heard anything really bad about either location.

The SunSpree has a good location, not quite as close to the parks as HIFS, but closer to more restaurants and shopping.

The big difference between the properties is in the suites. HIFS has true suites with separate rooms, whereas KidSuites at SunSpree are a regular hotel room with a partioned area for the children.

We were at HIFS in September and would highly recommend it. It's two separate bedrooms, plus a living room area. Which means, the adults can relax on the couch and watch tv after the kids go to bed, THEN go to bed. I prefer to relax in a living room, rather than hanging out on the bed. Sunspree appears to have a larger kitchen area, but I'd take the living room over a larger kitchen any day. HIFS has more relaxing room without having to be in a bedroom. In addition to the couch in the living room, there is a nice chair (living room type), plus the table and 3 kitchen chairs. I have posted many links to my pictures from HIFS in various other posts...if you can't find one, let me know and I'll post it yet again!

As others have said better than me...it is the difference of a small apartment vs. a 4 wall hotel room.

I stayed at the Sunspree 3 or 4 years ago. Make sure you join the Holiday Inn Priority Club (free on their website). You get a free room upgrade if it's available plus a free beeper while your child is in the play area.

I haven't stayed at HIFS, but the Sunspree is VERY near the entrance to Downtown Disney and has a security guard booth at the entrance. You couldn't walk to anything though. Of course, it's also very close to Crossroads. Be sure to try Jungle Jim's!

We are 7 in our family, and HIFS was the only hotel that we could legally stay in the one suite. All the others are 6.

We've stayed at HIFS twice, and love it. We'd do it in a minute-if I didn't have to pay for WDW passes!
