Hi, my name is Elaine and I'm a thread killer

No, that'll probably be me. Happens all the time. I'm a thread jinx.

DisFlan

Hi DisFlan,

Reeled you in didn't I...;)

So, about your Dis name...is it about Flan? I like flan we had a great flan at a hotel in Aruba..very tasty dessert. My DH makes flan with amaretto. Or is there another meaning to the flan part?

Nope, I'm here!:wave2:

Not much budgety news today, though. Trying not to spend, which means staying home and NOT visiting sites like amazon and Ebay!:thumbsup2

Hey there you are! :wave2:

I'm home today watching movies..so far I've seen The Legend  and Juno, tomorrow is work day. have to pay those bills...:upsidedow

lol - yup, you got me. As for the name, Dis is for Disney and Flan is the first part of my last name - and flan has been my nickname for years. I like the food type flan, too.

Hi everyone! I just found this thread and feel better knowing I'm not the only thread killer. That being said, I'm now afraid that I'll be the one to kill this thread since it seems like it's been around for a while. Someone please post behind me! :)

Sounds good...Actually, my name is not Vivianne, she's my co-worker. I just happen to like her name..She doesn't know her name's been here about 4 years. Plus when I signed on the name I wanted was already taken.

I think your tag is sweet. My MIL used to call me honey-bunny.

Don't worry, somehow this thread has gone on for a while......even the OP was surprised. I'm sure she'll drop by again. :)

Budget dinner tonight! BTW-that means I had it all on hand, so no extra trips to the grocery store. If that happens, all heck breaks loose and I come home with three bags of stuff and usually forget the one item I actually went to purchase!

I've been feeling under the weather so simple cooking in this house. We had Tyson chicken strips (oven) and a spinach/tomato/onion salad here. DH eats anything...as long as he doesn't have to prepare it.

Lately, we've been having more salads than usual. When we were in FL I bought oranges and grapefruit and we had some every day...

:welcome:
& don't worry ~ there's always someone here to watch your back:) (awww, crud. now i've got "this is the thread that never ends, it just goes on and on again, some people started writing....." song stuck in my head!!:rolleyes1

:rotfl2: omg, you stole a co-worker's name when she wasn't looking?!!! that is just too funny!!

budget related: we're leaving for WDW in 16 1/2 days. i've been adding money to disney GCs every few weeks, & have over $400 so far ~ enough to pay for the DDP (DH & myself), plus some extra for tips.
so the only bill we should come home to will be the rental car (which i got for an awesome rate: $79 total for a compact, p/u & d/o at the dolphin), & whatever we get at the outlets.:woohoo:
<sigh> i can't believe in just a bit over 2 weeks, we'll be sitting on our balcony (BWVs), watching illuminations (& the dream i've been having every night will finally be real again :cloud9: )

Ooh...I am SO jealous! I have to wait until Sept. to enjoy the world again!

DD and I just returned from Target. What is it about that place? I swear, I went in for Nighttime pull-ups and spent $100+!:scared1: Did the same thing last week too! Do they pipe subliminal messages through the music or what?? Their slogan should be "Target--come spend $100!" :guilty:

Thanks for the warm welcomes everyone!

I know...I always talk to my sister after leaving Target ('cause she loves it too) and tell her how much I spent. She always says, "What did you buy?!" And I'm always like, "I'm not sure!" :rotfl: It's not like I'm buying big ticket stuff, there's just so many small things that add up! :confused3

:) Yeah, she just got a big inheritance. I don't feel bad about taking her name..;) Besides, if I told her she'd be...:confused3 She's been to Disney & doesn't get it. :rolleyes1

Thanks for the warm welcomes everyone!
I hope enough to come back again, and again and again.........cause I sure don't want to be the one to kill this thread :upsidedow

Exactly! Then I feel so bad when I leave with just three bags! Really, for that kind of money, I should have at least FIVE!:lmao:

That's Great! How long are you staying? $79 for a compact..you can't do better than that! I've stayed at the Dolphin once. You can't get a better location for Epcot. We stayed at the Swan 2 wks ago, we had the Mickey pancakes at the Mediterranean Market..yummy. Do you have your ADRs? We ate at France the only countries we haven't done are Japan, China & UK.

we're trying a few "new to us" places to eat this time: biergarten & morrocco (heard biergarten is great!).
plus tutto italia (love it!!), coral reef (booked the diver/menu to surprise DH ~ it's our 25th anniversary), WPC (DH really likes their food), le cellier (want to give it another chance with the new menu change). i think the only restaurant in EPCOT we'll have missed is china after this trip (i don't really care for chinese food, so that's ok tho). we're doing the DDP again.
heard that there are really good places to eat in the swan/dolphin (& that a few have a DVC discount too:thumbsup2 ). is the MM a buffet or sit-down b'fast?
i love having APs & staying at the BWVs~ we literally stroll to EPCOT just for dinner & illuminations at night........:cloud9: prob my favorite part of every vacation.
btw, we'll be there for 8 days/7 nights. got the code off the trans board (haven't paid that little in years!)

still find it incredibly amusing about co-worker vivianne. i prob would've taken the money, & left her the name tho :rotfl2:

Would have had to mug her or maybe she won't notice...she's a little more ditzy than I am. ;)

About the MM it's a buffet option at a sit-down restaurant, you walk up to the different stations and tell them how to make your omelet, etc.. If you KWIM. There's a real funny guy who's a server there. I haven't eaten anywhere else there other than Picabu which is more cafeteria style. Have a great time and tell me all about it when you get back. I always stay at one of the two hotels for our Epcot day. :woohoo:

Good Morning to all my thead killing friends. I am in the hotel room and couldn't sleep. We are going to Downtown Disney for a few hours today and then its back onto the bus for 26 hours. Be home Saturday Night. I have lots to report but it will have to wait til I get home. Sorry no post during the trip. The band director gave the girls late night checks and I was soo tired. Can't wait to get back and tell you all. Miss ya, Diane!

We missed you! Hope you had a great time during your trip! 26 hours, I can't imagine. You'll probably be exhausted when you get back. Have a safe one, we'll be here killin a few threads...:)

Yay! Diane checked in!

:laundy: today. Weather is nasty, so probably won't go out. Dinner has been marinating since last night, so it should be 'flavorful!' I sound like I have my budget/act together, but it is all a mirage...smoke and mirrors...well, not smoke, it makes me cough...and mirrors are NOT my friends...:upsidedow

Huh? What was I rambling about?? Oh, a boring day so I won't spend money...I KNEW that it was related to budgets somehow. Sorry, I even put myself to sleep on that one!

Keep on rambling...I've been known to ramble from time to time...;)

Here in the NE, our weather's been good...lately...but it drops at night to 30's, I know it's no comparision to ::MinnieMo-sota. A friend/co-worker of mine is visiting Mall of America this upcoming week. She's driving there with her sis and the kids. 19 hours she says... Can you tell me what it's like?

Yeah, I guess I have to

, don't want to but I have to.

Definitely NOT worth driving 19 hours! :scared1: Yes, it is BIG but there are a LOT of repeat stores--I think there are 6+ B&B Works, etc. There are never any real "deals" either because the retailers know that they are getting the tourists who are there to spend. Mostly chain stores, so you likely have the same stores but you might have to drive to several different locations to get to them, where here they are all lumped together.

The restaurants are good. Kind of a big variety, but mostly chain restaurants as well. There are a few places that you can do simulator type things-racecars, fighter jets, etc. Oh, and Nickelodeon just re-opened the amusement park there under their management. That is cool.

The family and I go there to walk around and to visit Santa (they have the REAL Santa there!), but do our shopping at other places, if possible. Of course, MOA (how we refer to it here) has the only Disney Store in the state (I think), so I do go there to get my fix sometimes. I hope that when it gets re-purchased by Disney, they do a remodel and bring back the Magical feel. It is currently very 'sparse' and not very 'Disney-like.':guilty: We try not to go there too much from Oct.-Feb. as the crowds are unbelievable. (We visit Santa on a weekday to avoid the weekend rush.)

Rather than driving so long, "Vivianne" ( ) should have looked for some of the airlines/hotels in the area. Many of them offer a package for a quick flight in, hotel stay, shuttle to mall and then flight home the next day or so. Probably more prominent closer to Christmas though.

Hope that helps. Don't be jealous. You had more fun at WDW than she will have here!:flower3:
