Hi, my name is Elaine and I'm a thread killer

Definitely NOT worth driving 19 hours! :scared1: together.

Rather than driving so long, "Vivianne" ( ) should have looked for some of the airlines/hotels in the area. Many of them offer a package for a quick flight in, hotel stay, shuttle to mall and then flight home the next day or so. Probably more prominent closer to Christmas though.

Hope that helps. Don't be jealous. You had more fun at WDW than she will have here!:flower3:

Well now I feel bad for them. They're just 2 adults and 2 children. I wouldn't drive over 5 hrs anywhere for a 1 week vacation with little kids in the car, you're just too tired when you return...Nothing like asking someone who knows...
unsure.gif
I'm sure there's better things to see in your state. They were thinking Disney and I gave her some info but her sis does the planning and it was last minute. How's the weather right now? I'm sure when Spring really gets there it's beautiful.

OMG yes!! I am still trying to find a board that I feel comfortable posting on, but whenever I post the thread just stops and drops!! Lets see what happens with this one!!

Well, the kids will like the Nickelodeon amusement park. Hopefully, they will find the children's museum, Science museum, etc., and not waste all of their time at the mall. The weather in Spring CAN be nice. It was almost 70 on Wednesday. However, it has been gray, rainy and cold for the last two days. Highs in the low 40's. The wind makes it feel colder.

Welcome Jaime!:welcome: We are ALL trying to kill this thread and no one has succeeded....yet! Good luck! Winner gets...well, nothing, but we have fun chatting anyway!

:welcome: There's a few of us threadkillers but we can't bring ourselves to kill this thread :rainbow:

I just noticed...everyone in your family starts with a "J"! My DS 2 kids start with a "J" too! She had the third J name picked out if she had another one...

I'm sure they'll find it. I don't know about her sister but my friend is all about saving. My kind of vacation is totally different. I'm all for learning about a state, history, nature, museums, attractions, food, sightseeing and buying items exclusive to the area I'm visiting. Although, I'm sure they'll have a good time. Hey, it's time away from work. :)

Good Morning Everyone! Fellow threadkillers, lurkers, forgotten ones..:wave2:

Budget Trip Report...

Hello Everyone, I'm back:lmao:!

Safe to report that we came back well under budget and I am going to be able to do extra grocery shopping to restock. DH and I shared meals and the kids were very tight with their money:confused3. Still can't explain this except for the fact that they want to go back as a family some time before the end of the year. I will try! Okay onto the first look at the vacation. You are the chosen few to hear a bit about the vacation before I write my first trip report....

The Highlights: I rode the following rides/attractions for the FIRST:wizard: time: Tower of Terror, Indiana Jones, Exibition Everest, Mickey's Jammin Jungle Parade, The Little Nemo Musical, Walked the whole World Pavilion, Norway's boat ride, Turtle Talk with Crush, The Seas with Nemo and Friends, Space Mountain, Monster's Inc, Laugh Floor, and the Astro Orbitor.

The Lowlights: The weather at home in Buffalo, New York was warmer than the weather in Disney.. Who would have thunk:idea:that...

Before I leave here are a few reason's why we actually went to visit... DD dancin' for the Mouse...

DD is the one on the far right... I will edit and get you all more info soon...

Words of wisdom: If you ride on a bus for 26 hours both ways always remember to try to sleep even for a few hours... or you will be like me:dance3: :dance3:!!

Hey Tinker, you're back....:goodvibes

Sounds like you had a good time! TOT, Exhibition Everest, Space Mountain, Astro...you did better than I. ;)

You have a very pretty DD, she looks like she's having a great time! You must be proud. :)

Rest up and let us know when your trip report is ready...

Way to be brave, Tinker! Glad your trip was good. You were so worried before you left!:goodvibes

Not a good budget weekend here. We had tickets to see The Backyardigans LIVE, so we ate out for lunch AND dinner that day! It was fun and the food was GREAT, but not very budget!;)

Hey Everyone!

It's late in the day, but I wanted to say hello to all fellow threadkillers.

Not much to report, I did buy a pair of sandals on my way home .....Went to Marshall's & found a pair I want to wear for work. They're so comfy! This irresistible force pulled me and I walked around the store with the shoes in my hand and gave in. I promise tomorrow I will drive straight to my house...in my new shoes :guilty:

Well I have been working on my photopass all day as in almost 9 hours worth. I did the laundry:laundy:at the same time and I am totally caught up from the trip. Now just a few things to stil put away.

Here is my little Mickey Magic update.. LOL! IN DTD I made my own rice crispy treats and brought them home. Not expensive but I am fearing:scared1: the sugar high and calorie content. Its my way to bring home the magic. I eat a litte each day and if I keep to my schedule I should be set for about 4 weeks.. :rolleyes1! Not sure if I can keep to the schedule.

The kids at The Kingdom... DD & DS are on the right...

Hope everyone is having a great budget day....

Is it not budget friendly if you gain Disney weight:laughing: :rolleyes1 ??

I am with you there on the weight issue! I just hit my 25lb mark this week at Weight Watchers! Of course, then we went out to eat and I ate things that I shouldn't have and was miserable all night. WW is not budget and eating healthy is more expensive than not, but my health is more important than them money when it comes to that. I will sacrifice other things instead!

Off to shop for DH's secretary--Admin. Assistant Day is tomorrow, but he is traveling until Thursday, so I am in no rush!

Congrats:cheer2: on the 25lb. mark... That is great! You have to treat yourself once in a while.

It is expensive to eat healthy.. I am going to grow a garden this year for sure. Tonight I made pepper steak over basmati rice with corn on the cob and fresh fruit... Now I buy budget food.. And I really try to keep the cost down but it is still expensive... The peppers are almost $1.00 each so I only used 1/2 of each color (red, orange, and green tonight). Its a crockpot recipe so I could use a cheaper cut of meat but I am trying to stay away from the fat so I have to wait til a good cut has a real good sale or a markdown... See talk about food and budget and I ramble on:lmao:!

Oh back to the subject. It is okay to treat yourself or you wouldn't be able to stay on the right track. I can't afford the weekly meeting fee's or I would be right next to you at WW's. I use my calculator and books that I have from when I was able to afford it. I need to pick up on the exercise. Okay, well the thread is safe for now... TTYL, Diane!

Hi Everyone! :wave2:

I'm also trying to keep on track or at least a handle on my weight since I indulged on our trip to DW. We're only 2 adults so I can stretch our meals. I agree Diane it's hard to keep the cost down.

If anyone's interested there was a thread on the CB board yesterday about a website that you can see free episodes of TV shows. Here's the link:

TY, site should come in handy, definetely will tell the kids. Coming back to reality sucks (hope no one if offended by the word).

So I went back to normal food today after thinking I was gonna die of junk food last night. I guess my plan back-fired... DH and I shared meals the whole trip and skipped all desserts except for one time. We shared our snacks also.. One container of popcorn, one disney ice cream, and one dole whip... That was it for the whole trip. In the room we snacked on water and pretzels... So what did I do last night... I ate chips, then rice crispy snack, then more chips, grape juice w/ pretzels... I felt like I was going to explode:sick:, so today is my day...

Breakfast was whole grain/nut toast w/ very little butter, a banana, and a small glass of OJ. I went for a brisk 40 minute walk an hour after breakfast, came home showered and am having my water now. I will do lunch if a bit and am making turkey ham w/pineapple for dinner with a side of zucchini w/ tomatoes... Wish me luck cause even this little guy popcorn:: has me thinking about the junk food in the house...

I am going to start my trip report tonight if I can find out which computer I saved it on. I will also try to figure out how to link it in my siggie:confused3, can't be to hard can it?

Have a great day, Diane

I decided since I was going to be "shown" in some point in my trip report that I would formally introduce myself here first...

Me and DH-Steve at the Primetime Cafe....

Wow Diane! You're braver than I am to post your picture but you and your DH are very attractive! Yeah! Looking Good! I can see why your DH is so pretty...it's in the genes :thumbsup2

You know, I've been holding steady for a few years hovering size 12/14 and I really don't get it. Most of the time I skip lunch. A whole meal. I've cut down on carbs (pass on the bread....I'll have it without the bread), No dessert. DH loves pies and ice cream and I'll have one little sliver or none (He'll wind-up eating the whole thing eventually). I only drink skim milk with my 1 cup of coffee. I drink lots of water. Like I said, the weight is steady as she goes. Maybe, if I didn't do what I do I'd be heavier. :confused3

As far as exercise, I have to admit, it's practically none since we had a long winter. I've done a little in the house but I'm not motivated. Now that the weather is nicer I'm walking more. That's why my trip to DW in April was such a killer on my legs. I make myself walk up the 3 flights of stairs at work rather than take the elevator. That's the one thing I have to change. A little less of :surfweb:.

Since joining this thread weird and wacky things are happening to me! :pixi Anyone else????

First I seem to have lost my status as a threadkiller!!!! I have only killed one thread since coming here and it was my own.:yay:

Second, my middle daughter and granddaughter are moving out of my home after four years!!! They are able to buy their own house. :wave2:

Third, Lowe's (which just opened up here) has better carpeting and is cheaper than Home Depot!! I saved $500 on three rooms!!

Fourth, my oldest daughter is preggers with my fourth grandchild and it is a girl!!!!!:cutie:

And FIFTH, I've been TAGGED!!!!!!! I do not even know when it happened!!! I just noticed it!!! Now I really feel like I belong!!!:grouphug:

Budget related

We are taking 2 grandchildren and a daughter to WDW in June. Plane tickets, Park tickets, and rooms all paid for our June trip. Also have $2550 in the bank for our spending money!!! So we are just counting down. :cheer2:
