As you have probably noticed I haven't been feeling very well.. and its been pretty gloomy at my house. My aunt passed a few weeks ago and a very close friend passed from breast cancer last week. The wake was on Sunday and I went and payed my respects on the way to the emergency room...

Well being home and on the couch I was really bored. So I called my best friend from High School. You know that one friend no matter what through thick and thin was always there for you... She lives in Florida and I wanted to tell her about the dates we would be there. She never had any kids (funny but not one of my girlfriends from high school ever had children, I am the only one). Well I told her that my DD was turning 16 this December and I was taking her to NYC for an all girls weekend. I invited my friend because I really thought is would be great to have someone for me. As much as I love DD her best friend will be there and I know they would have ignored me. Well my friend travels for her job and I asked her if any of her co-workers would like to "donate with compensation" any Hilton Points because I wanted to stay at the Waldorf Astoria and it is like $600.00 per night but its a Cinderella experience and I want my daughter to feel special... So what happens today my girlfriend calls me and tells me that I have a reservation for my days in a two room suite at the Waldorf and that she has arranged her company car service (limo) to pick us up at the train station.. I am in tears . I have been feeling sorry for myself and I totally forgot how much I miss and love my best friend. So if she reads these boards, I hope she sees this and knows how much she means to me!! Hope everyone has a great weekend. Diane

bet that if you had no real "budget", you would have chosen exactly what she did. your DD is going to be in heaven too ~ have a wonderful time!!

The weather was very good. The rain came at night. Just in time for the fireworks... We only went to two parks MK & Epcot and the downpour came right on time at the finale. Ten minutes after, it was dry again Maybe I shouldn't complain.

We ate at:

Kona
Le Chefs - France
Raglan Road
Crystal Palace

Good, good, good, good.

We had a car..so DH took me to Orlando Premium Outlets & Prime Outlets. If you're a tiny gal or have teenagers, you have it made as far as choices for clothes are concerned. I bought a few other items there...how could I resist?

The first night, I had done a Priceline for a hotel near Disney. I got Sheraton Safari for 3*....nope, won't do it again. The first room reeked of urine..when we got to the room, there was a utility fan running on the floor drying the carpeting. I didn't even bother walking in the room. I know this is a pet friendly hotel but good grief. I would have preferred to stay in the car. DH got another room...which reeked of stale smoke..obviously, someone smoked in that non-smoking room... It was so late and only for 1 night so I gave in.

We stayed at Pop Century for 1 night. I like the food court. And the Swan for 1 night. Not bad. Only, we were exhausted and when I got to the room I saw the message button blinking. So, I think I pressed it. Turns out the little button right above it was 911. Three calls later, one visit to our door, reassuring front desk everything was ok and it was a mistake. So, if you plan on killing someone do not press that button by mistake..you'll be found out...

Please, don't call 911, I'm not planning on killing anyone...

Oh yeah, one last thing. The flight going back and returning was half-emply. Only...it was delayed. Instead of returning at 11:45 it was more like 2:00 a.m. Did I mention DH had a stomach viral thing when we got home?... Got to bed at 4:00 a.m......Yes, he's feeling better.

All in all it was a great trip.

Thank you! I read about your upcoming stay at the Waldorf...ooh la la, c'est magnifique! What a good friend!

Rest up, you're going to be one busy lady. Oh and don't forget that emergency kit for sure. During our Disney trip I felt really achy. We did EMH for both MK & Epcot and P&P Party. Despite my resolve not to do commando, we do walk more than I'm used to. I should keep it up now that I'm home, if only it would get warmer.....hello, springtime where are you?

Well I hope that I am able to accomplish what I want at the parks. Each time it gets a little harder. When I was diagnosed in 2000 we went to Disney and I had no trouble at all. In 2005 I had a GAC pass which helped and we did okay. This time it will be a bit harder. I don't use a wheelchair because I can't stand or sit for long periods of time. I need to shift... Well I will have the Dr. write it up and see what Disney wants to do with me. I am going to let hubby and kids go without me if I am not keeping up. They all say they don't want to but I am going to make them. I am getting excited. Feeling a bit better today but tomorrow is the last day of the antibiotic and I am scared the infection will come back. I know that is a silly way to think about it that way but I can't help it...

We are taking one of the laptops with us and hotel has wifi so I will try to keep up with the thread...

Hope you had a great Monday...Today was hard, a bit of a downer being back from vacation..but I have more vacation time this year, so there's something to look forward to!

Well I hope that I am able to accomplish what I want at the parks. Each time it gets a little harder. I don't use a wheelchair because I can't stand or sit for long periods of time. I need to shift... I am going to let hubby and kids go without me if I am not keeping up. They all say they don't want to but I am going to make them. I am getting excited. I say, do what you need to really enjoy your vacation. That's what it's all about. There were times when I was exhausted. That comes from not being in shape. Now that the weather is improving, I'm going to start walking more.

DD and I will be painting flower pots today for the grandma's Mother's Day gifts. It is grey and gloomy outside, so we will use bright colors to cheer us up!

It's my second day back to work from vacation. Seems like I never left. Everything back to normal...back to budgeting and

. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

MNFootballMommy, your project sounds like fun. Today the weather is sunny and about 65, alot better than the 30's and 40's we've been getting.

I wish I was planting flowers, it sounds so wonderful and springy..

I have been doing the wash everydayso that there is none on Friday evening. The only dirty clothes will be our PJ's.... I might have my Mom do them or if I am feeling adventurous just leave them in the hamper...

I packed today. I did well. We have 2 large for DH, DS and myself. 1 medium/small for DD. DD has a small carryon for the bus and DS has one a little larger. He will keep the electronics and chargers. My carryon is the Disney Duffle bag that Sears had on sale. IT is packed full and heavy. I am afraid to pack the meds and first aid in the suitcase. Even though we are on a bus I am afraid they will be lost. Everyone also has to pack a change of clothes because we are going straight from the bus to churchand well I don't want us to stink in church. Also we won't be able to check in immediately when we get there so I had to put swim stuff in the carry-ons...

So I think I accomplished something today. I am also using up the food pretty good. Tonight is baked potato bar...

what is it about vacations that you spent sooooo much more time planning & thinking about them than the amount of time you're there? lol
& i always wind up "wasting" the first day convincing myself that it isn't actually just another dream

btw, if anyone is looking for an inexpensive car rental, there are really great new codes on the trans board (i reserved a compact thru dolphin at the swan, may 3-10, for only $79 total!!! used ID 8572967 & $35 coupon ND2119071Q).

Does everyone else have major bumps in their road to Disney or is it me?? DD15 calls me from the bathroom at school to tell me she thinks she left her glasses on the bus.. (For those of you who don't have a teengage girl, this translates into they are totally lost or smashed) So I call the eyeglass place and they think they can have them ready by Friday (we leave 6am Saturday) and to come in at 4pm today. Well I am not going to pay if they won't be here in time. The overnight place would be about $250.00 of my Disney fund. Help What would you do??

Can you call the bus co to find out if they have her glasses? Otherwise, I would go ahead with getting them on Friday. Hope it works out.

Good Thursday Afternoon! DD's glasses were found by the bus driver who actually drove the bus to the house and personally handed them to me... (I gave him my Tim Horton gift dollars). Everything is pretty much on schedule for the trip. I have been feeling yucky today but probably is just in my mind and the fact that I was too overloaded mentally to sleep last night. I decided to go to see the Dr. tomorrow and he wants to write up info for a GAC... See I have been very sick for a long time and don't usually admit it. He said that I have strict Sun restrictions, doesn't want me in a wheelchair or standing for long periods of time. He said frequent changes will make me feel better. He also doesn't want me feeling closed in standing in line (I suffer panic attacks and he said that will bring down my ability to fight stuff off). So I will let him write it, not sure if I will get the GAC or not. We haven't told the kids about a lot of the little stuff that is wrong yet. No need to worry them. Nothing is life threatening, just life altering...

Wow now that I said it outloud, I feel better. I am really excited about Disney. My only prayer is that I stay healthy for the kids and if that means I skip some rides, well there is always next time. I can get the pictures that I always wanted to take but missed because we were hussling and bussling from ride to ride. Thanks to everyone here for listening and understanding. I will send Pixie Dust and Sunshine Dew to each of the areas where you all live...

Diane, you're such a sweetie. I think you need to do all you can to keep yourself healthy. After all, vacation is about enjoying yourself and being with your family. I love Soarin and we initially got a fastpass. After the ride, we did The Land and during that ride there was an incredible downpour. I figured rather than just waiting for the weather to clear, we do the ride again on stand-by. It was a mistake, it was 75 minutes and it felt like forever. Just do what you can and enjoy. Also, make sure you drink plenty of water and get enough sleep. It really helps with stamina during the day. I'm glad DD has her glasses back. You see good things can happen too

See...it was just a 'bump' and not a pothole! Have a great trip. You will know when it is time to stop/rest, so do it. Stay healthy and enjoy!
