Hi i'm from P.A.!!!!

Oh boy Tracy - first your real move & now the thread move!

Do we have everyone over here on the Community Board?? Hello? Hello??

Tracy - we moved 2 years ago 2 weeks before Christmas - and I totally agree with you - never again!

Did Fern or Linda ever get those pictures on here from our meeting in November? If they did I missed them!

Tara, I see you stayed at AKL. My parents are doing a four day excursion early February and my son will be booking their room either today, tomorrow or Monday. My parents are 82, but a real good 82. They are thinking of staying at AKL previously stayed at Coronado. How does this compare to Coronado? Is it far to get the transportation to the parks? Any suggestions on where they should book the room or make a request:confused3

We've stayed at both Coronado Springs & AKL. There is definitely less walking involved at AKL, and it is all inside walking. AKL is like a large hotel with wings, and all the shops & restaraunts are within the hotel. As CS, it's more motel style (doors opening to the outside) and you have to walk outside to get to any shops or restaraunts. At AKL we had a Savannah View Room which is well worth it if your parents enjoy spending time on their balcony, or enjoy watching animals (or if you just really want to impress them!) We loved it but I doubt we'd pay the extra cost to do it again. You can view the animals just as well from the public areas around the resort. We weren't in the room long enough to justify the extra cost (for us). I don't remember which wing we were in but it wasn't super close to the lobby, restaraunts, etc. but definitely closer than when we stayed at CS. It took forever to walk to the pool, food court, lobby, etc. at CS. I guess it all depends on which part of the resort you get.

As far as bus transportation, both were fine. At AKL it's outside, just off the main lobby which is centrally located. I'd guess a 5 minute walk max from any room at AKL. At CS they have (or had back then anyway) 2 bus stops. We were far away from the lobby area, but not far from the 2nd bus stop, maybe a 2 minute walk.

Are dining options important to them? If so I'd choose AKL, with Boma, Jiko and The Mara food court. I only remember the food court at CS, but they may have another restaraunt option that I wasn't aware of. Overall I liked AKL better than CS, mainly because it was more compact & you could move around the resort more quickly than at CS. Both are themed well & have great pool areas.

Hope that helps!

Thanks so much for your indepth description of the resorts. It sure sound that AKL would be perfect for them and my son is going to try to arrange for a first floor room, and if he can't arrange that he will arrange for someone to help get their luggage down for check out so they don't have to hassle with that. DS is booking this tonight so I will give him the infor before he sets things up. Thanks and have a good week.:thumbsup2

Let us all know what he ends up booking for them. It sure is quiet on the thread now that it's over here on the Community Board. I hope we haven't lost a bunch of people!

I think one of the reasons it is quiet is that the regular people who post aren't around. I know I have posted on this board 2 or 3 times and no one has ever responded to me, so I stopped posting. I still read it to see if anyone is going to be in Disney when I am there, but I normally won't post.:confused3 Penny

Hi Penny! I'll reply to you! When are you going to be in WDW? Antss had a great list going at one time but I haven't seen it in awhile.

This year we have 3 trips planned (next year, only 1 :( ) We are going down 2/4 and returning 2/9. Flying southwest out of Philly. Staying at Old Key West this trip. going back in May for the pin convention and we don't know where we are staying then. Then the first week of December at AK one bedroom Concierge celebrating my 60th. :cool1:

When are you going down? Penny:hippie:

Hello to al the PA'ers

I'm still here, but the holidays got me really backed up. Had a fine time with my MIL the beginning of December. We all survived, despite the fact that our luggage got lost.

Now my kids basketball season has started. It isn't too bad, since one is driving, but still have to go to the games.

Going back to my "Happy Place" Feb 7th-11th with the Whitehall HS cheerleaders. :scared1: I don't know what I was thinking. Just goes to show how addicted I am. :rotfl: My friend (cheerleader mom) and I are flying early on the 7th. The cheerleaders are leaving afterschool. Thankfully, we aren't on the same flight. Apparently, that flight out of Newark has over 100 cheerleaders on it :scared1: :cheer2:

Then looking forward to another Mom's only trip with Tracy in October.

Pam, looks like we will be there at the same time. :goodvibes
Welcome Helene:banana: :dance3: :yay:

Lovely January weather we are having! Almost 60 too bad it melted our 5" of ice and snow and is a muddy mess in my yard! I'd love to let my kids out later to run around. I think we'll go for a long walk with the dog later!

YIKES :scared1: ! I hope you're coming home on a different flight too-but at least they should be worn out by then and may sleep most of the flight.

Finally some action on the board! Hi everyone! It's 61 here & I plan to walk while the kids ride bike after school - might as well take advantage of it while I can. Hi Helene - I have tons of family in western Schuykill County!
