Hi i'm from P.A.!!!!

Sorry Linda, I just couldn't resist!! Too funny!

I'm a good hour from Port Clinton - but maybe we could meet up there for a PA DisMeet! That sure would be a loooong drive home though. How far is it for you? I'm guessing not too bad sine 61 goes down to Reading. I got married in Reading so at one time I was very familiar with the area, but not anymore. I'm not even sure where the Road To Nowhere goes these days!

In Linda's defense....I now see there are a ton of tech issues with the boards over the last few days. I had trouble posting last night myself. But they're working on them....so if Linda starts babbling on the thread tonight....well....then....;)

Nice to see you & Grayson yesterday Jess!

Hi, I'm from PA too! Born and raised in Fairless Hills, moved to Philly after high school, lived there for about 9 years, and now moved back to Fairless Hills! Welcome all you PA people!!

I'm not even sure where the Road To Nowhere goes these days!

It goes SOMEWHERE

It's considered 222 now. It continues 222 to Lancaster and connects to 422 to Philly.

In case you really wanted to know ;)

And I have to say that this is probably the first time EVER that Port Clinton is mentioned on the internet -- that's a surprise. That must be a yummy place; I will have to try it.

ROFL!! Yes Port Clinton is definitely a blink-and-you'll-miss it kind of place! Is the Port Clinton Peanut Shop still open? Now that was a neat place. Old time store with one of those huge long soda fountain counters, and they sold every kind of candy you could ever think of. Haven't been in there in 15 years. Up a little farther is 3C's restarunt - I think - they expanded it in the last few years. It used to be more of a truck stop. Great food there, we used to stop for breakfast on our way up to visit family in Schuykill & Northumberland Counties. There's also a fancier (for Port Clinton anyway) place to eat right there on the main strip on 61 in Port Clinton - forget the name, want to say it has something to do with train or station....my parents say it is excellent there as well.

When I got married you use to come up to a light where the Inn at Reading was on your left, and you turned left to go to Vanity Fair. Last time I went with my mom that whole intersection was gone or changed. I think if I got on The Road to Nowhere I'd end up SOMEWHERE wrong!

Who lives in Deer Lake/Schuylkill Haven?? I live in Frackville ahaha Right up the road on 61!

To answer your question...I have no idea. I have lived in this area all my life and never knew Port Clinton had a name til recently. I never even looked at it, driving through. The most attention it got from me was to slow down and merge. But after your description, you have me wanting to plan a weekend getaway to the place :lmao: ! Really, I am going to look into the Port Clinton Peanut shop.

Ok....it's still open

Hey everyone! I agree about the Port Clinton Hotel:thumbsup2 The Candy shop is still open, we were there a few months back and took DS and friends in to buy some goodies.

I just moved to Schuylkill Haven from Quakertown. I'm just off of 183 near the State Police barracks. I guess I'm in a pretty safe area. LOL. I don't know anything about the area. I do know where the Walmart Supercenter is though.

if ya have any questions about the area PM me. I've lived around here all my life :)

Port Clinton is awesome HUGE portions. A large order of fries can serve four people or more. We share things when we go there. It isn't a very big place so if you go with a lot of people it is a good idea to make a reservation. For Linda and I it is about 20-25 minutes from here but it sure would be fun to meet there. Then of course you have to go to the Port Clinton peanut shop where you can find old time kinds of candy and other things. Hey Tara, we could come up your way some time, of course I would have to drive as Linda doesn't like driving in unfamiliar areas. :)

Gotta love those Port Clinton Fries! I'd love to get together to eat sometime - I'm trying to think of what would be halfway - Kutztown? I'm about 45 min. from there. I actually grew up near there but I'm sure all the old hangouts are gone. There are/were 2 really good places in Kutztown - one on Main Street & the other hidden out of the way - some one help me here - the one was in a lodge-type building - famous for stromboli - maybe near the mountain on the backway to Topton?? It's on the tip of my tongue but I can't remember.

There is one place fleetwood/Topton way called Snuzzles. Real good food there too. I would have to get directions for you coming from your direction. This is one of the places we go to and go past Deka and make our turn off. I don't know it that is where you are talking about. Have to think of places half way each way that are reasonable.

YES YES YES Snuzzles!! That is exactly the place I was talking about that was like a huge bar (but family friendly) in a lodge with exposed beams. I haven't been there in over 15 years but my parents still go every now & then! It's tricky to find but I know I could do it. Are you & Linda ever free during the day for lunch?

I have to ask if any of you are motorcycle riders? That is when we go to Port Clinton and Snuzzles, with a group on a sunday ride.

Nope not I Tracie, sorry! But I can meet you there in my truck!

See....I'm not losing my mind!!! :yay: yet :lmao: :lmao:

Deb knows me way tooooo well!!! Actually, she's being kind. I couldn't find my way out of a paper bag!! :lmao:

Unfortunately, Deb works Monday-Friday. I think Saturday would be the only day for her.

Nice to see you & Grayson yesterday Jess!

It was nice to see you too, Tara! I checked out the pics from your Dismeet and they are so cool. I love the castle with icicles shot. It looks like you guys had fun meeting up. Hopefully when Grayson starts school I'll be able to join one of the ladies only trips :) .

Did anyone else get the 40% room discount email for select dates in 2008? I got it today but not sure if I'll be back to The World this year or not. But that discount is tempting!
