HHI Tommy's treasure

Calling Tommy Towery: We will be visiting HHI in July and I have a DD who is thrilled about pirates.

Has anyone looked for Tommy Towery's treasure lately?

I recall him saying he would be updating the directions this Spring. Anyone know for sure, if he has?

I am looking into doing a pirate walk around Savannah. Does anyone have experience with this or suggestions?


Any pirate themed restaurants? This is our first visit. Thanks

I asked the same question about the treasure last week. We are leaving TOMORROW!! The response that I got was that the treasures was there in March but not in April. I thought that I would see if my children are interested and look anyway. When we get back I post a report in time for your July trip.

Sorry folks, some scoundrel took the treasure and I won't be back to replenish it until next January. I guess I need to take it off the website. But the CMs at HHI kinda liked the idea and were doing their own treasure thing so maybe you can still have fun.

Even if the "treasure" is missing from it's resting place, following Tommy's clues and exploring the resort is a lot of fun.

Just print off the instructions from his site and enjoy the adventure. (I'll try to remember to bring something to replenish it when we go in July.)

there is a pirate golf. it is to the right when you leave the resort. In front of Hilton Head Diner. It has "blackbeards" and Captin Kid. courses. What is really neat is the fog at night that they pump. Also along the holes you get history lessons on these infamous pirates. I don't think there would be a pirate rest. in HHI. (HHI is not myrtle beach.) I like the pirate golf better than the "Adventure Cove" (no video games at Pirate Golf but I am a big fan of the "Age of Sail" and I can't wait for POC the movie. When your dd gets older, she might like to read Horatio Hornblower books. Its about the royal navy in the 1700's to 1800's.

We were at HH DVC 18May - 24May just a week or so ago. One of the activities was called "Pirates of Calibogue" We saw folks participating walking by the pool area. It is described in the literature as....Come help us find the keys to Strozzi's treasure? A family scavenger hunt will lead you through the resort ending in treasure!....we saw a couple of groups and they were dressed up as pirates and appeared to be having a very good time. It is shown as an hour activity, no charge and requires one to make a reservation to participate. Hope this is something that your family would enjoy.

I think that having the kids walk though Tommy's list of clues and planting a secret treasure at the end would be just as much fun as walking the clues and finding the treasure..

Thanks for answering. We will be taking some kind of treasure to leave in July. Guess I forgot to mention DD is 17 We are planning to do a pirateswalk in Savavnnah.

When in Savannah, you should eat at The Pirate's House. It is located at East Broad and Bay Streets. Tel. (912) 233-5757. Your pirate loving DD will be in heaven. I'm going to quote from a Frommer's Savannah guide I have to give you a better idea.:

"Arguably, this is the most famous restaurant in Georgia. It is certainly a Savannah legend. A labyrinth of low-ceilinged dining rooms, the Treasure Island Bar, a gift shop, and a small museum share this 1754 Bay Street Inn, once a rendezvous for pirates and sailors. Robert Louis Stevenson used the place as a setting in Treasure Island , and it's listed as an authentic house museum by the American Museum Society. You'll want to explore all its many dining rooms."

My kids love the place. I think the quality of the food is not quite up to where it was a few years back but it's still worth a visit just to see the sights.
