Does the Marriott one there by Shelter cove have beach access? I think that is the one you can book for cash using Interval International through DVC
Yes, I've stayed there a couple of times. It sits right on the beach; many of the rooms are ocean front. I've spent several nights in one of those rooms. In fact, if you turn left after coming out from the Disney Beach House and walk that direction, it's right there on your left about 200 yards down the beach. I believe it has some rooms that diagonally face the ocean which offers some ocean views. After that, the bulk of the hotel faces squarely toward the beach and ocean.

This is the one I was asking about. It is very close to HHI so I don’t think it has beach views but was wondering if they had something similar to the beach house.

@muppets3d said there was a shuttle but it would be nice to have a private access area like the beach house provides.

Disney's Beach House has a public parking area, but it's very limited - most of the parking spaces at the beach house are reserved for DHHIR guests of course. Why not just stay at DDHHIR? :)

Actually I just watched a resort tour of this property on YouTube, they do offer a beach parking pad but it looks very small.
the beach parking lot is around 9:50 in the video. You park at The Dune House. It's a few properties away from Disney's beach house.

This would be ideal but I used up the last of our points to book CCV for MM when I had asked DS which one. Honestly was very shocked as DS usually chooses HHI as DS is a beach baby with us used to owning a condo on AMI in FL.

Still looking to see if we can get down to HHI this summer though and saw that on the getaways site.

Can anyone here confirm or deny that Kenny B's recently closed? I read an article in the on-line Island Packet that mentioned that Kenny B's had closed.

We just had a 2-nigh waitlist come through for our first visit to this resort. Looking forward to trying it out. I've scanned this thread but it's pretty long. Looking for suggestions for places to eat around the island. We like fancy and just plain type of restaurants, but look for things with local flavors/ingredients. Would love to hear your experiences.

I read that there are 300 restaurants on the island so there is something for everyone. It's amazing how many restaurants there are honestly. I like Hudson's seafood.

The rooms are very similar to OKW so you should feel right at home.

The SERG restaurants are all pretty good and offer a 10% discount as well. Nectar, One Hot Mama’s, Posidion and Giuseppe’s are some of our favorites.

As muppets3d said, there are close to 300 restaurants in the area, and most of them are quite good to excellent. You pretty much can't go wrong unlike at the World. Plus, everyone will have their favorites, so it's tough to choose just a few. . .but I'm gonna anyway! I lived on HHI for two years (and worked at the resort), and a few places almost always worked for me. To wit:
Local flavors/ingredients
1. Hudson's on the Docks: It's a true local favorite, and they try to use fresh catches whenever possible on the menu. Pretty darn good hushpuppies, too. They do NOT take reservations, but if you get there early enough before dinner or lunch, usually there's no problem getting a table. If weather allows, ask to be seated outside on the water.
2. Skull Creek Boathouse (not to be confused with Skull Creek Dockside): Another local favorite, and they do NOT take reservations, either. Their Seafood Throwdowns are among the best, if not the best, on the island. Huge menu with tons of choices to satisfy pretty much everyone's palate. Again, go early or prepare to wait.
3. Fishcamp on Broad Creek: Very good raw bar and excellent drinks. Menu is more limited but still good. They DO take reservations.
Fancier (for the record, few places are totally upscale where you wouldn't feel comfortable in nice jeans and shirt)
1. Nunzio: Excellent Italian-based dishes, many with locally caught, fresh seafood. Exceptional service and wine menu. They DO take reservations.
2. OMBRA Cucina Italiana: They DO take reservations, and is one of the more upscale places to dine on the island, though there's no listed dress code for it. Great service, excellent food, and intimate.

BBQ is a big deal in the low country, but I'm not a huge fan given it's so heavy and filling. So, I won't make any recommendations for that style of local flavors. I'm sure others will have plenty to say about that category. Enjoy!
P.S. Tide Me Over on the resort has Mickey waffles, usually made to order, and Dole Whips (including adult versions), so that should give you some good vibes. pirate:

@OKW Lover
That last part is key. Certainly be prepared to wait or go early.

This is also a SERG restaurant so it will provide a 10% discount when mentioning that you are staying at HHI

Our first trip to HHI we were out on the beach and saw a shrimp boat fairly close offshore. Later that evening we decided to eat at Hudson's and saw what appeared to be the same shrimp boat docked outside of the restaurant.
