Yes! I was planning to go in sept/oct 2025 and now I’m reconsidering. Does anyone know what they’re doing?
Not sure what they are doing.

I would still go if I were you. Great weather! (unless a hurricane)

Disney typically does one building at a time.

I was told last month that they will be painting the buildings. We usually go the first week of October, but next year we booked Labor Day weekend so the rest of our family can go with us. Looks like we will be there the week before they start.

just read this in the DHHIR notice attached:
"Unless otherwise extended, the term-for-years interest will expire on January 31, 2042, and vest to the benefit of Walt
Disney Parks and Resorts U.S., Inc"

I know that Disney owns the land DHHIR is on based on deeds.

Looks like this gives Disney the right to extend past 2042 if desired at DHHIR!

Looks like Disney has to own 4% of DHHIR. (55k points)

They also own 12k points to sell at DHHIR.

This is new this year:
During the year ended December 31, 2023, DVC voluntarily subsidized the operations of the Association
of the common expenses incurred in the amount of $147,003.

I figure Marriott will take it over and Disney will get out. Marriott has a larger presence on the island and I've seen a Marriott branded truck picking up/delivering laundry, which to me may be an indication that they already have a bit of an alliance.

edit: a further comment is that Hilton Head does much better in occupancy these days than when I first bought due to such favorable reviews from people like us, but it is not high occ all year round. Many dedicated 2 bedrooms sit empty while the smaller units fill up.

I heard that dhhir maintains above 95% occupany year round now.
Before covid, it was around 90%.

The studios, 1 bedrooms, and grand villas stay booked year around. There are just so many 2 bedrooms compared to the others at dhhir.

I am curious to see what disney will do with dhhir in 2042. They own the land and a few other things on hhi.

Aha! I found a problem with the new design of the rooms. If you take a shower, then leave the shower door open, you can't get in to the bathroom from the living room/kitchen side because the open shower door blocks the door. Big flaw! And DH had the audacity to suggest that it's not a flaw in the design, but the fact that someone(wonder who?:scratchin) left the shower door open.

We will be at HHI for New Years Eve this year and the first few days of January. Are there any NYE traditions or activities? Will the Christmas decorations still be up? Thanks so much! Just trying to decide how early we should try to show up on the 31st.

We will be at HHI 6 nights in August 2025

We will arrive at SAV in the evening on Aug 2 , and will stay at the Airport because HHI is point heavy on a Sat night.

And drive on aug 3 in the early morning to hhi.

my questions are

can we arrive at the resort early in the morning ( arround 8- 9 am) and use the pool or beach house?

is there a luggage room where we can leave our luggae? We dont want to leave it all day in the car ( i think it gets realy hot in the summer)

i read there is a dolphin tour or starfish tour to an island. do we need to reserve it in advance?

Thank you very much

oliver

We have visited DHHIR for New Years two years ago with the decorations still up.

For NYE, there are some activities on DHHIR and also other places on HHI. I cannot remember exactly what was offered at DHHIR for it though.

The decorations in Shelter Cove will also be up. We also recommend visiting the Fire Station 3 with the lights, Dove Street, Shops at Wexford, and Harbor Tour.

Have a great trip! We will be at DHHIR on 12/30 for the night.

If you want to book the room on cash at DHHIR, that may be an option.

There are also hotels near DHHIR if you prefer.

You can arrive that early and store your luggage in the Live Oak Lodge. Then, you can use the entire resort until your room is ready.

You can call Shelter Cove Harbor about the reservations for tours.

Have a great trip!

We were there to celebrate 2022 going into 2023. If past activities continue, I would recommend getting to the resort before noon on the 31st. Decorations will still be up, but they generally come down shortly after the 1st.

On New Year's Eve, Disney had a Noon Year's Eve bash. They handed out cardboard NYE hats, beaded necklaces, and noisemakers to everyone. Just before noon, everyone gathered at the pool to countdown the dropping of a large beach ball from a pole. Pluto came out (wearing winter gear) and took pictures and started a conga line with guests.

At 4:30pm, they had cocoa and s'mores at the campfire pit. It was rainy and cold all day, so we took our hot chocolate and s'mores kit to-go.

At 5:00pm, they had a paid 'Sparkling Hour' for adults. We did not attend, but for $30 per person, it's basically wine, snacks, games. This is the resort's last planned activity for the night.

At midnight, we could hear fireworks and cheers from the marina area. The resort stayed mostly quiet, although we briefly went outside to make some noise!

Here are some previous activities calendars for the last week of December and the first week of January...

There is nothing cash available at the moment for when we will be there in July.

Any recommendations of offsite for the night before check in?

Shelter Cove has some VRBOs, as does Palmetto Dunes (right across the main drag). Also in Palmetto Dunes is the Marriott that sits right on the beach. pirate:
Thanks I was trying to get the Marriott at shelter cove but they are sold out on my dates.

It might seem silly but I don't really want to be on the beach as we won't be on the beach at HHI which we would be going to the next day.

We will be arriving not until 9 pm or so.

I guess we will just get the Springhill suites unless cash inventory opens up.

If you check around the 60 day mark, you may can snag a room at DHHIR by cash.

There are many different options nearby. Depends on if you want a hotel or larger.

My parents stayed at the springhill suites next to DHHIR and thought it was fine.

Especially since you are not arriving until 9pm.
