I believe it's 278 to I-95 to I-4. We usually put it into Google maps and choose to avoid any tolls.Anyone have advice on the fastest route to Disney from HHI? My navigation does all these strange things these days and doesn't always give me the fastest and I'm trying to figure out exactly how early we need to get on the Road to be walking into the Boardwalk around noon.
We'll be driving on NY Day which is probably a good thing because most people will be sleeping in!
Spot on. I'd stop at the first Buc-ee's (St Augustine)--they usually have among if not the cheapest gas prices--then go into Disney after that. Another good option is stop at Brunswick, GA (1.5ish hours from HHI), grab a Starbucks there, then you're only 3.5-4 hours away from Disney. As mentioned, once you hit I-4, it's as though you're almost there. ;-) Now, you can take a toll road off I-4 before you get into the outskirts of Orlando that takes you to Disney, and the exit is well-marked, but I don't feel it saves you a lot of time, if any. Be prepared, however, for I-4 to be slow the last 7-8 miles.I believe it's 278 to I-95 to I-4. We usually put it into Google maps and choose to avoid any tolls.
I would leave no later than 6am, but it depends how many stops you want to make and for how long. Kingsland, GA is about halfway (2.5 hours from HHI and another 3 hours to Disney), and a good pitstop before crossing into Florida. We like to get past the madness of Jacksonville (3 hours from HHI and 2.5 hours to Disney) by going straight through that area. If you can make it past Jacksonville before needing to stop, then there is a Buc-ee's in St. Augustine (3.5 hours from HHI and another 2 hours to Disney). There is also a Buc-ee's in Daytona Beach (4 hours from HHI and another 1.5 to Disney). We generally get any stops done on I-95. Once we turn onto I-4, the excitement keeps us going until Disney!
One thing I'll miss during the Holidays is walking around the entire resort singing holiday songs with the cast members and Shadow the golden retriever.
No and yes, respectively. You can fish off the pier based on Disney's license, and the Rec window will rent you rods, bait, etc. Same goes with crabbing. Is there a need for a fishing license at the resort? Do they rent fishing pole.
Our family agrees! We love visiting during christmas time and we will do it again next year. We may have been there the same time as yall. This resort is such a magical place to relax during the busy Christmas season. We enjoyed the festive touches like the 12 days of Christmas scavenger hunt, unlimited hot cocoa & coffee by the pool, and the special letter delivery to our daughter after she dropped her Christmas list in the lobby mailbox- came with a personalized note from Santa. We enjoyed playing games in the lodge, renting Disney Christmas movies from Broad Creek, and baking pasta & Christmas sweets in our 2BR. Beds slept great and we felt very well rested after our stay. I could tell the guests arriving were getting so excited to spend Christmas here as they decorated their balconies with lights and cute decor. There’s also some cold weather that arrived just in time, but the heated pool was warm enough to still enjoy, especially when the hot tub is steps away. This is probably my favorite time of year to visit. I’m hoping to convince my family to let’s actually try staying here Christmas Day next year, since this does really feel like you’re home.
