We have never been to HHI, and I am (aggressively)trying to convince DH that it would be fun next summer/early fall with our 2 girls. I don't want him to think we made a bad choice if we go. I have read a bunch about HHI, and I understand DVC is not on the beach, which doesn't concern me. What I am wondering is if this is a good location generally? We want to be near the fun HHI restaurants, shops, bike trails, etc. My cousins own at Spinnaker Waterside and just love it. Any thoughts?

The DVC resort is very centrally located in Shelter Cove Harbour across the street from Palmetto Dunes. It is a mile from the beach (there is a bike trail to get there) and is an easy drive to all areas on Hilton Head island. There are several restaurants within walking distance of the resort too.

The resort is just past the 8 mile marker as you drive down rt 278 on the island and is on the right side of the highway (Palmetto Dunes entrance is on the left)- just enter when you see Shelter Cove signage.

Enjoy!

Some like the location, some don't. If you don't care about the beach at all, I'd think you'd be very happy with the Shelter Cove area.
