Hey, You Lions Can't Do That! This is Disney! A Frozen Harambe Trip Report! NEW 8/27!

you did so much on your arrival day! I am so impressed! I am hoping to do that on our trip in April! Such a great way to get in more park time! Your dinner sounded and looked delish! We love the Derby! I seriously love your Olaf pictures! xo

Last Trip Report I did a budget post so we could see how we did in relation to how much I budgeted for our trip. We got a lot of positive feedback on it, so I am going to do the same thing this time, only a tad differently. Instead of doing a budget post at the end of each post, I am going to do one for an entire day once I am finished with it. That way, with it being in a separate post, if someone wants to read it they can, and if not they can just skip over it!

This second post is going to be for Thursday July 24! Our second day on vacation! So let the budget posting commence!

Budgeted Amounts
Gas Fill-Up #2 - $50.00
Panera Bread Breakfast - $20.00
Overall Snack Budget - $50.00
Frozen Snack Budget - $30.00
Dinner - $150.00
Ice Skating - $20.00

Actual Spent
Gas Fill-Up #2 - $48.27
Panera Bread Breakfast - $7.53
Lunch at Catalina Eddie's - $12.82
Frozen Coke & Water - $6.75
Anna & Elsa Cupcakes - $11.00
Bottled Water - $2.50
Dinner at Hollywood Brown Derby - $155.00
(We paid for the entire party at dinner since we had Tables in Wonderland, so we could get the discount, but received $60 cash in return from our friends to use the rest of the vacation, so I will note some purchases were made with that cash, but I am factoring in the $155.00 for the purposes of this Budget)

Budget Status
$5.84 Over Budget
(123.00) Remaining In The Souvenir Budget!
($46.93) Remaining In The Overall Snack Budget!

We were $1.73 under budget on the gas, $12.47 under budget on breakfast at Panera, and since we did not go Ice Skating, $20 under budget for that activity! We were $5 over budget for dinner (even though it didn't cost nearly that much, that is the total that came out of the bank account, keep in mind we will be using that cash in the remaining days!) Finally, $3.07 came out of the Overall snack budget after the Frozen snack budget was all accounted for!

So Day 2 was looking pretty good!! We were on track and only a little over so far! Very happy with how things are looking as of now! :cheer2:

We did do a lot! I was very proud that we got so much done! Wait until the next day, we were only at Magic Kingdom for such a short period of time but I felt like we did loads of stuff! April is such a great time to go! I love Flower and Garden Festival, and now that they have those food kiosks I love it even more! :rotfl2: I am seriously contemplating just taking Olaf with me everywhere I go! He just brings a smile to my face every time I see that little guy on a stick! :rotfl:

Aww, loud people can be aggravating but hard to argue when its at a Sing-a-long. Atleast you have the funny memory as you said! .....I guess you can say those ladies really let it goooooo!!!!! :rotfl2:

Woooooooooooo!! Congrats on being awesome and kicking some butt on Toy Story Mania!:banana::banana:

Oooh Brown Derby! Ate their once, can't really remember it. it was nice ambiance though but not sure if I need it to do again either. A nice back up if you need to do something different in HS. Happy that you guys had a nice meal and great company!!

After I saw the cupcakes on the report you guys are doing, we made special plans to go to Contempo on our next trip, just to see what kinds they have!! Those cupcakes looked so good, I mean they were even filled! Yum! :goodvibes :thumbsup2

I also love that no matter how many times we go to Disney World, by reading others TRs I usually always find something new and exciting to do!! Sure going to a resort for cupcakes isn't what most people would do on their trip to Disney, but one Por Favor Mantenganse Alejado De Las Puertas, and we will totally be all over that! :dance3:

That's awesome, and I can't wait to see pictures and hear what you think about the cupcakes there. :cheer2:

I loved your story about the off-key ladies at the sing-along. That would have been me. :rolleyes1 In fact, I remember being about 12 or 13 at church, and having some older ladies shoot me nasty looks from the pew in front of me because they thought I was a stupid middle school kid, butchering the songs on purpose. I felt really bad because I had been trying to sing, and that was the best I could do. :confused3 I'm glad that you found your experience humorous in hindsight.

Looks like you had a really fun day!

-Stephanie

Oh the memories of Charleston (( love it there )) Fort Sumter is so interesting with the shells for sure, but you were smart not going on the USS Yorktown in the summer ... It's so so so hot on that ship deck (( like smoking hot!! ) Charleston has some amazing restaurants so I'm not surprised you found a wonderful dinner.
Love all your pictures of DHS Frozen Summer can't pick a favorite but you both look adorable, love Olaf on a stick, love the parade pics., love the magic pictures ( yeah I call them that ) and the frozen cupcakes are adorable and look tasty! I'm so hoping they have a Frozen Winter Wonderland as Frozen Summer Fun ends that would be amazing! I can always hope it happens : )
I'm trying to catch up so I'm sure I forget something??? We saw Guardians of the Galaxy and love love it, and so want to get the soundtrack ... Loved the music right up my old age alley! Can't get that Hooked on a feeling song out of my head!!

I just remembered about the Frozen sing a long ... So funny when you get a crowd together for songs they know to all sing to together LOL They really can " Let it Go " and ** Girl Power ** on beating your husband on TSMM : ) I just beat my twin grandsons at Disneyland and one of them was calling foul too ... Like I'd even know how to win I just kept looking for the highest targets.

OMG, they were totally Letting It Go! That is the most perfect description of what they were doing! It is definitely a happy memory, it didn't really hinder our enjoyment at all now that I look back on it! If anything, like you said, it gave me something to remember it by!

5-7% of me is still convinced that somehow Jeremy is letting me win! I mean, I can't possibly win every time, that is just crazy talk!

Funnily enough, our meal companions, our friends Dan & Mindy are the ones who got us playing WoW! We are guild-mates! Wanna know something even more awesome, is how we met them! They were our tablemates on a 5-night Disney Cruise, and we became great friends! Disney just brings everyone together! I love it!

I think our new thing at Disney may be looking in all of the bakery cases to see if they have cupcakes :lmao: The good news is, you won't have to wait too long to see them!!

Yeah the Sing Along was really fun, I am glad people were into it! Aww, that makes me sad that those ladies were shooting you dirty looks! I think everyone should have that experience, being is a huge theater full of people singing Frozen songs at the top of their lungs! It is definitely something that I am going to remember! We had a great time at Frozen Summer Fun! I even have my little Olaf next to the computer to remind me of it! :cheer2:

That's so good to know about the deck on the Yorktown! We will have to try it when it is cooler outside! That would be awesome if they had a Frozen Winter Wonderland! It would be such a great addition to that park at the Holiday Season! Wasn't Guardians Great! The soundtrack is totally awesome! Now that song is stuck in my head!

Yay! You beat them! We gotta show em what we are made of sometimes! Even if it is on a ride at Disney! I need to do some research on ways to do well on those rides and then really beat him bad! Hmmm!! A Mission!

Our first full day at Disney! I woke up at around 6:30am and decided to go ahead and start getting ready to go! Today, for our first stop we were heading towards Magic Kingdom! By 8:15 we were down at the bus stop and then boarding a VERY crowded bus a few minutes later! We made it to the Magic Kingdom right after rope drop, but still before 9:00am!

We stopped out front of the Train Station to show off our looks for the day! Jeremy was Maximus from Tangled, here he seems to be posing as him, but every time I look at it, it seems like he is doing the Thriller dance...LOL

JeremyAsMaximus_zps11a509a0.jpg

I was one of my favorite Disney characters today!! I love Pascal, he is just so darn cute and feisty! We were on a quest later to find him in the park!!

AndreaAsPascal_zps815c0f19.jpg

Our first stop as we were making it down Main Street was to grab a quick little breakfast snack, we knew we were hoping to eat lunch around 10:30-11:00 so we didn't want anything too big! The easiest thing to do was to stop at the Main Street Bakery/Starbucks. I still am not too happy about my beloved MSB being turned into a Starbucks, but I am slowly getting over it, it is still a nice quick place to grab a small breakfast!

MainStreetBakeryStarbucks_zpsc6fd461d.jpg

My camera lens was a little wonky today with all the humidity...I didn't realize what all these photos looked like until we made it back home and I started looking through them, so sorry in advance for some of the photos from today, I had no idea they were going to turn out like this!

So with our breakfast in hand we started walking and eating our way to Storybook Circus and our first ride for the day! Jeremy of course, got the Chocolate Croissant!

JeremyChocolateCroissant_zpsfab1b0dd.jpg

Me, I just love warm crisp buttery croissants in the morning, which reminds me that I haven't made any at home for a while, I need to get on that! Nothing like making a pastry that takes two days to create...LOL They are so worth it though!

AndreaButterCroissant_zpsf597c241.jpg

We had almost reached Storybook Circus when I saw this massive line...It was the line for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train...seriously it went all the way to Storybook Circus...at that time of the morning...LOL I'm glad we had a fastpass for it! There is no way I would wait in a line that long.

SDMTLineStart_zps0b7b0917.jpg

There are so many fun things to do at Disney with little to no wait! I do recall though waiting almost 3 hours to ride the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage at Disneyland on our Honeymoon. I think after that experience, coupled with waiting like an hour for every single ride at Disneyland Paris, I have started making plans based on avoiding lines, because to me they take so much time out of the day, which is a bummer :sad2:

Anyway, off of that topic, we had made it to Storybook Circus, and Look, no one is going this way! Score one for the team!

StorybookCircusEntrance_zps50326968.jpg

Our first stop was this empty looking attraction over here...where are the people..oh right, they are in that Seven Dwarfs Mine Train line! Silly me!

DumboEntrance_zps34358329.jpg

So we got on Dumbo with absolutely no wait, at all, come to think of it, we may have been the only people on the ride at the time...I will have to watch the video to find out for sure! Next up we walked a short walk over to this little beauty!

BarnstormerEntrance_zps94066e99.jpg

Again, we walked straight on, with no wait, there were actually a few people riding on this one though! But not really anyone waiting! The only thing I wish, was that this was a little bit longer of a ride, it feels like as soon as you get on, you are right back to the start again, maybe they could make it go around twice or something, I dunno?

BarnstormerPhoto_zpsec47db15.jpg

After our ride on the Barnstormer, we left Storybook Circus and starting walking over to the other part of New Fantasyland which housed Under the Sea: Journey of the Little Mermaid! When I see things like this...

HelenGoffCartography_zpsde3c0acb.jpg

I am reminded over and over again why I love Disney! This is such a simple and random place in New Fantasyland, it houses a DVC sales center, but it is so deliberate that it just makes me smile. First off, see the hidden mickey?? Secondly, it is sort of like the windows on Main Street with how it pays tribute to someone important! Now originally when I looked at this sign and saw H. Goff, I thought...hmmm Helen Goff aka PL Travers, who wrote Mary Poppins, but that is not the case at all! I couldn't figure out why her name would be over here, it didn't make any sense! Then I did some research and found out its true meaning!!

Ralph "Harper Goff", H. Goff, was the artist who designed the Nautilus in the film 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea! Interestingly enough, the building housing this DVC Sales Center is built directly on top of the area where the 20,000 Leagues Submarine Voyage attraction was! A little piece of Disney History for you all! I love learning new things, and then seeing them memorialized in the parks!! It really gives me a deeper appreciation for all of the hard work and thought that go into each and every piece of what we see or glance at while we are walking around! Even if that attraction is no longer there, the memory of it will live on, also in the tree over at Winnie The Pooh! If anyone has seen the little Nautilus carving in there! If not, you should go and find it next time you happen to be there! Moving on!!

UnderTheSeaLittleMermaid_zps7df645ab.jpg

Journey of the Little Mermaid! These areas are themed so beautifully, it is really hard to take everything in at once! I can't imagine going to any other theme park and waiting in boring queue lines, I mean, there would be nothing to look at right?? Just look here, there is no one even in this line!!

UnderTheSeaQueue_zpsc6839603.jpg

The sun was still coming up, with no one in the line, in front of, or behind us, I took the time to take a few photos!

PrinceEricCastle_zps17374491.jpg

Maximus...I mean Jeremy, was ready for his closeup! I wonder if he wanted me to put an apple in his mouth?

JeremyUnderTheSeaQueue_zps5757ba40.jpg

Here you can see my handbag a little more closely...isn't it awesome! What a great bag to go with Pascal, it is clear and see-through! Nothing like a Lucite clutch that matches my pascal attire perfectly! Now, I guess I will have to use it again when I am either, Peter Pan, Tinkerbell, Mike Wazowski, or any other green characters!

AndreaUnderTheSeaQueue_zpsc881f832.jpg

After we finished riding, Under The Sea was stuck in my head, great now it is too! The Seaweed is always greener...in somebody else's lake :cool1:...we had Fastpasses for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train from 9:10-10:10am. So we thought we might as well head over there and hop on. It was 9:45 and when we made it around there, the ride was down :sad2: The CM told us that we could come back whenever later on today and use our fastpass for it, or any other attraction we wanted to in the park! We really wanted to use our FP for SDMT, so we would just check back later, before we had to leave for our appointments!

Right in front of us was the Carousel, and guess what, no line! So we walked over there! Jumped right on, I am loving this no wait time thing! I was so worried about the crowds I had heard about in July, but we weren't having any problems at all! I guess it is all of the experience with the parks we have learned over the years!

JeremyCarousel_zpsb5c049ab.jpg

I should have used the flash...ugh...things were moving so quickly I just didn't seem to have my photography wits about me today! I need to pay more attention sometimes! I do have some pretty good video though, so stay tuned for that at the end!! :thumbsup2

After riding the Carousel we made a quick restroom run over by Gaston's where I snapped this photo while I was waiting outside!

CinderellaCastleNewFantasyland_zps7eef96b7.jpg

We sat there for a moment contemplating whether we should go ahead and get in line for Be Our Guest for lunch, it was only 10:05 though, and there was maybe 1 group of people over there waiting, then all of the sudden, we see the Mine Train running with guests on board!! Yay!! Maybe we would make it during our fastpass time after all!! So we went over, and it was back open! We scanned our bands and within 7 minutes we were on our way out after finishing up the ride! I just love FP+!

After our ride on the Mine Train, we decided that we would go ahead and go get in the little line queuing up for lunch at Be Our Guest! This would be our second time eating lunch here and we were really looking forward to it!!

BeastsCastle_zps94037999.jpg

That's crazy that the 7DMT line was super long, but there was no wait for Dumbo. It's strange to remember that just a couple years ago, that people made a mad dash to Dumbo at rope drop, or else the Dumbo line would be too long. :rotfl2:

I'm not sure how I feel about the Starbucks additions to WDW, but like Jeremy, I also had one of those chocolate croissants and found it to be delicious, so I can't complain too much :goodvibes

Good eye for spotting out the hidden Mickey at the DVC station. We walked right by that a couple times and I totally missed it!

Looking forward to reading about your lunch at BOG. popcorn::

Apparently i missed an update.... *sigh*

Lol

Dinner looks great, I definitely need to try there, I just like, don't eat much of the food selections at DHS, I usually end up at pizza planet because I know I won't be disappointed, bahaha

MK is always a fun time, and croissants! Yum! Best breakfast ever!

Nice job heading back to storybook circus first! Man, the mine train is just such a hot thing right now it's insane the amount of time people will spend waiting for it, like, actually....

How cool about that little piece of trivia, thanks for that! Super neat!

Yay for mine train with fast passes!

You rode so many rides that morning at MK ... So fabulous and I'm impressed you always get up so early and out to the parks near rope drop : ) Love all the hidden mickeys you find here and there so now I have a new one to look for thanks to you. Looking forward to reading another dining report of BOG and how long the wait was for lunch ect. We are doing dinner there in Nov. But I'd like to do lunch there as well one of the days. Do you think there's a better day to wait in line for lunch? I'm guessing during the week, but what time is best?
I read you were staying at AKL so I hope you don't mind if I ask a few questions about your stay? We are staying 10 nights at AKL CL and it's our first stay there out in the wild! So can you give me a travel time from the resort to each park? What makes you go back to AKL since I think you did a split stay on your last visit as well? Is is your DVC ownership? Or is it something else like the animals or resort itself?
For us I wanted to stay at WL since we've never stayed there but then the pool and courtyard is undergoing major rehab. So I went with AKL since that's the only other one new for us ... Also doing 4 nights at GF RPC since we love the Floridian and can't visit WDW without staying there : )

You guys took New Fantasyland by storm! And I really like the photo you took on Barmstormer, I still have to ride that one.

Great update Ashley!

Yeah I remember when the Dumbo lines were crazy! I guess everything has its turn though! Basically if you go anywhere else at rope drop other than New Fantasyland, you should pretty much be able to ride whatever you want...LOL

Yeah, I am still unhappy that Main Street Bakery has changed, but I do go there and they have great croissants, so eventually I think it won't bother me anymore!

Looks like you had an amazing trip! I am bummed we will miss frozen by going in Nov.

Aww, you missed something, I Will forgive you this time...:rotfl2: just kidding!! Not about the forgiveness part, but about the this time part, because I will always forgive you...whoa that was long-winded! Are you guys gonna be doing other Disneybounds, I know you mentioned using your Anna and Elsa ones again?

I am totally with you on Pizza Planet, we love that place! We definitely go there 8 out of 10 times that we go to Hollywood Studios!

I seriously don't know how we did anything at Disney without Fastpasses! Its like imagining life without a smart phone for me, I use my darn phone for everything. I hope they never take away Fastpasses! Actually having to wait...in a line like that...I think I would just watch Carousel of Progress and Hall of Presidents all day!! :thumbsup2

If only I actually planned to wake up that early, our schedule from home is so ingrained in my system that even on vacation I automatically just wake up early! :sad2:

We have done lunch there twice and both times the wait wasn't long, and when we came out after we were done with lunch there was no one really outside waiting...so maybe it is easing up a bit? We could have just been lucky too, I really don't know. As long as we make it a priority for us we usually don't have any problems. We got in line at like 10:15 because we were going to eat an early lunch, most people don't even think about lunch yet at that time of day, so it worked out for us!

When we stay there on our next trip I will time the bus rides, that way it may be more accurate! It does seem to take quite a bit of time to get to places from there, which is usually why we take our car, but if we plan ahead a little we try to get to the bus stops early enough so we can get where we need to be on time!

We really enjoy Kidani, the pool is awesome, we love the restaurants at both there and Jambo! Sanaa, Boma, and Jiko! The animals are all around, so I kind of like feeling removed and secluded. The theme is fantastic! There are so many things to see there. The MAIN reason we usually stay there, is because it seems to be the easiest resort to book shorter notice, other than Saratoga Springs. We actually own at Disney's Grand Californian...LOL. The majority of the time when we are looking for somewhere to stay, it is the first one we check because it costs less points and usually has availability!

Grand Floridian Villas are amazing! You totally won't be disappointed there! I have stayed at Wilderness Lodge once before, but not in the villas, we will be staying in the villas there for the first time in January! I hope that answered all of your questions! If I missed something let me know!! :goodvibes

Great update Ashley!

I love the theme of Barnstormer, I just wish it lasted longer! It literally feels like it lasts a few seconds...LOL That photo was accidental, Jeremy was filming with the GoPro and he took a random photo, It was so unexpected when I saw it when we got home! It was nice to have too, it was a very pleasant surprise!! :goodvibes
