Hey Mom, Do I get to be the line leader again? A PTR…(My TR has started! - 6/1)

I am so happy to hear your report...
Ashton didn't want to take his pain meds after his surgery either :confused1:
Ashton first time on Verset was funny he had his Lightening McQueen car and his stuffed one and was amazed at the size difference :lmao:

Hope he continues in good spirits...its been too long to remember how long exactly Gwendolyn had any real pain.

Have a good night!

I'm glad Cooper is doing well Megan. I know that must be a huge relief to have that part over. I hope you're little guy continues to feel little pain and recovers quickly. :goodvibes

They had warned us about the Verset making him kind of loopy, but it truly was hilarious. It kind of lightened the mood as they took him away.

He is doing great...not really complaining about anything. Last night was okay. Bryan and I had agreed earlier that we would stay awake in shifts. He let me go to bed first. Cooper was just a bit restless throughout the night, so Bryan nnever got a chance to sleep fully. He came wake me up at 4:30 so that he could go to sleep. I had it a bit easier. Cooper was going in and out of sleep on the recliner since he needed to keep his head elevated, so I slept on the couch right next to him. I wasn't fully asleep. I popped up with every single noise I heard though.

I'm glad Cooper is doing well Megan. I know that must be a huge relief to have that part over. I hope you're little guy continues to feel little pain and recovers quickly. :goodvibes

Thanks! It is huge relief. He is shocking us. We were thinking he was going to be absolutely miserable. I hope it continues.

Yay, glad it is over and went as well as it could!!

Thanks!

Glad Cooper is doing so well..

Well we're off!!! Leaving in less than an hour for our half-trek to Orlando! I'll be texting you Megan with updates from time to time..

Happy Mardi Gras!!!

Universal.... HERE WE COME!!!!!!

We plan to hit Animal Kingdom on our last day of the trip. It is our absolute favorite park. It is the park from our last trip where we experienced the most magical day and inspired the title of this PTR.

First, we do have an 8:05 AM ADR at Tusker House. Bryan likes only a couple of character breakfasts enough to revisit them. This is one of them.

We always head over to the Safari first and get it over with. We have had such great luck with animals being up and about and even coming up to or walking with the truck early in the morning.

The second thing we always do at AK is to visit the first showing of FOTLK. It barely has a crowd, and we always have had a choice of seat.

Even though it is still before lunch, we stop on the benches near the bridge to exit Camp Minnie-Mickey to each have a Mickey Ice Cream bar. Can't go against tradition people.

After this, we'll likely head over to Asia to get Fastpasses for Kali I am thinking. We'll all be able to ride that, and not everyone is keen on riding EE.

The boys like to explore the Jungle Trek and Pangani Forest Trail, so we'll be sure to hit those at one point.

We love AK for the fact that it seems so laid back to us. It is meant for you to just take random paths and see what you can find.

Later that evening, we will have our last supper. Every trip to WDW since Samuel took his first trip, we have eaten at Chef Mickey's on our last night. It's a way for the kids to say good bye to Mickey and his friends until the next trip. They make sure to tell every one of them that they are leaving in the morning and when they should expect our return. The characters have always gone along with them. We also have the boys take a picture in the steel ears outside every time. It's our way of chronnicling the boys' growth for every trip.

I hope our day ends up being as relaxing and magical as it always is at AK. We look forward to it every year.

Great plans for AK. :) We will be there that same week (on the Monday, 24th) and it is one of the parks we are most looking forward to. I find the theming of AK simply breathtaking and we are hoping to be able to take our time this time around.

Icecream cookies sandwiches in the morning, huh? Why not I say! It is a vacation afterall.

I loved the idea of visiting Chef Mickey`s on the last night. That sounds like such a great tradition. :thumbsup2

Hope your son is doing ok. :goodvibes

Greetings from the road! Just ate at cracker barrel (Alisa's fav). Now we finishing the last stretch to Chipley. Our half-way point. Boys are anxious to be at UF. Everyone is! Gonna hit the sack early tonight. Get up and head to the Royal Pacific Resort by 3 in the aftrnoon. Hope Cooper is still doing great. That's all for now. Will update later.

Wow, sounds likes Cooper's doing well! Better than I did at least....I can't believe he ate actual food so quickly! It took me a week to suck down a solid!

Hope his recovery is quick and he isn't in much pain, so you guys can get some sleep! I'll be thinking about him.

Cooper - the newest inductee in the the Tonsil and Adnoid-less Disney Lovers Club! :rotfl:

Next update with Cooper - He has been understandably upset and cranky, but he has not yet complained of pain at all. He has still not had a drop of pain killer since we left the surgical center. He is soldiering through it all. The breath? It is truly kicking. I was warned that his breath would smell as if a dog died in his mouth. It is not an exaggeration. He begged and begged and begged for bread today while I walked up the street for the parade for a little while with Sam. Bryan caved and gave him a slice. He gobbled that down quickly, so bread is okay with him. Since bread was okay with him, Bryan and Cooper baked blueberry muffin. He is gobbling that up right now with his favorite mushroom soup from the hibachi. He has been running a low grade fever which is what we were told would happen. He is wanting to go play outside and leave the house to go to the store, but he's just not ready to be around all of that since he is susceptible to most germs now.

As I said earlier, Sam and I walked to the front of the street today with my sister and godchild to bring them to the parade. Not all of us in Louisiana love Mardi Gras. Today was Sam's second Mardi Gras parade in his entire life. We ended up not even staying for the whole thing. There were too many gaps between floats. There were stretches of time with nothing passing at the moment - normally a sign of break-downs. After about the third float, Sam was ready to go. The floats were zooming by, and he hadn't caught a thing yet. I caught a glitter baton and a pack of beads on the next float, so he got a little happier. After the sixth float passed, we waited forever for nothing. After 10-15 minutes of nothing, we know the reason...break-down. There were two parades today - a total of about 30+ floats. We left after 6. Oh well...

Update from Randy - They got to Universal okay. He rode HR3 today, enjoyed, but said the first drop was a bit nasty. They are hanging at the resort this evening and heading to IOA tomorrow.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day. Madeline came over today to watch the boys for a bit, so Bryan and I could eat out for lunch. It was nice and quiet since everyone else in Houma was at the parade. Other than that, we don't do anything else to celebrat the day.

Hi Megan! Glad to hear that Cooper is hanging in there and toughing it out. What a courgeous boy he is!

I haven't been to a Mardi Gras parade since I was Lindsey's age. Sounds like the parades could have been better today. We are celebrating Valentine's Day tomorrow evening with Joe. We did a small gift exchange this morning but dinner will come tomorrow.

Good to hear Randy, Alisa, and the boys made it safely. Interested to hear how things go. :thumbsup2

So, I have a bit of time today to spend on the Dis since Cooper is doing so well right now. He’s watching Playhouse Disney. I figured it was a perfect moment to write an update to my TR.

After lunch, Bryan decided to stay with the boys so that Alisa and I could do some more adult-like sliding. Since there was no way on Earth Alisa was getting on Summit Plummet, we decided to go on the Double Dipper. It was not as tame as I thought. At one point, I thought it was going to shoot me off the slide, and I would be airborne. However, it was fun (weird, huh?). Alisa liked it as well.

We wanted to ride Teamboat Springs next, so we went back to get everyone else since it is a family raft ride. We waited in a bit of a line on some rather hot cement (maybe 10 minutes total). We get to the front of the line, and the lifeguard directs us to our raft. Ours included Sammy, Zach, Cooper, Bryan, and myself. Oh my word!!! We needed a bit more weight. That raft was flying up the sides of the slide every which way. I made sure those boys did not let go of those handles, and cooper remained in my death grip. We needed one more adult to offset the weight. We were a little too light on one side of the raft. It was fun though. Cooper laughed throughout the whole thing and wanted to go again when we were done.

After Teamboat Springs, Cooper wanted to go on the lazy river again , and Sammy & Zach wanted to go to the area for kids that are too big for Tyke’s Peak – Ski Patrol. Fun was had by all!

We all came together and had dessert. I don’t even remember what it was called. It was this monstrous ice creram sundae that came in the same green sand bucket the boys’ lunch came in. I ate maybe five bites, and I was done. Bryan finished it about halfway, and he was done. Randy didn’t want it to go to waste, so he ate ours as well!

By this time, we see people starting to pack up since it was around 3. Cooper had fallen asleep on the lounge chair during the ice cream indulgence, so we sent everyone else away, and just relaxed for a bit. He ended up sleeping for about an hour. The last thing I did was take my plunge down Summit Plummet. I waited till the last 45 minutes of the day since the line wouldn’t be so bad. Bryan kept asking if I was okay as we went up. I kept telling him I was fine because I knew I would be okay. As long as I didn’t jump off the tower, I wasn’t going to fall, and the worst possible thing that would happen to me was my swimsuit would go straight up my rear end. I was ABSOLUTELY correct. It was a blast. I loved it, and Randy has the video proof of me taking my suit out of my rear.

We left BB about 15 minutes before closing after having a fantastic day. Our plans for the evening were dinner at Ohana and Wishes on the beach afterwards. We returned to Kidani and got cleaned up for dinner. Our reservation was for 7, so we had enough time to not have to rush. We drove over to the Poly and checked in to Ohana with time to spare. However, we ended up having to wait a good 15-20 minutes for our table.

We sat at our table, and Cooper was immediately amazed. We brought the boys to Watch Night at the Museum 2 the prior weekend. We were seated next to an Easter Island Head. Cooper immediately began screaming “Dum-Dum”. We thought it was cute, and then Cooper asked for some gum to give to the head. He was in awe with that head the entire evening. He had a quiet dinner since we were all hungry after having such a long day in the sun. The dumplings quickly became favorites of ours.

After eating, we made our way out to the beach for Wishes. We had about 30 minutes before they started. Bryan and I found a couple of lounge chairs to sit in, and the boys dug around in the sand nearby. They had a ball! I was amused by this little girl playing in the water. She was telling everyone how they are staying at a hotel at Universal, and her mom brought her to the Poly today for her to swim in the pool. She also kept telling the kids she told this to not tell anyone because her mom said it was against the rules, but they are doing it anyway. Great parenting huh! We loved watching the fireworks from the beach. The boys had a great time.

It was very long day, and it barely took any time for the boys to go to sleep.
Next…MK day!

Thanks! We always look forward to our day AK more than anything else. However, Bryan would tell you that our days at TL & BB are the days he's looking forward to most this trip.

Ice cream sandwiches in the morning are okay only at WDW. It's a treat.

We have some traditions from every trip, but CM is the big one. The boys know to expect it every year. After every meal, Sam tells us it is time to take the picture. I love it!

Thanks! Cooper is doing well. I think he might hurt today though. He's kinda crankier than normal today.

He is doing surprisingly well! We are completely amazed. We thought he would be so much worse than he actually is.

Thanks! He is a very courageous boy! He is shocking me every day.

I hope yall have a great Valentine's Day today.

I finally caught up:banana:! Poor Cooper. He'll bounce back fast, kids always seem to. I hope he is feeling better today.

I'm still loving your trip report within a pre-trip report. Keep it comming. :)

Great update Megan! Love the pics from the beach of the Poly. I was cracking up reading the story of the little girl on the beach. I would never do anything like that because my two girls would rat me out too! :lmao: (I really wouldnt' do that though).

I think Cooper is doing perfectly fine today. He was playing his own little Mardi Gras parade in the living room earlier, piled the beads all over his feet, and began SCREAMING for someone to come help him get unstuck.

So much for a sore throat for at least 10 days!

Thanks Leanne!

My kids would so rat me out as well. Especially Cooper. If you remember that old Bill Cosby: Himself comedy show. He talked a lot about being a parent. He referred to one of his children as the Informer since she told on everyone for everything they did. Well, Cooper is my Informer. He tells on EVERYONE. He even tells Bryan about things I do.

I wouldn't do it either...even though as a DVC member, I can!

So, how come no one gave me sufficient warning of the post-tonsillectomy breath? I was told he would have bad breath, but this is much worse than I could EVER imagine. He could clear a room. Seriously!

Coop climbed in my bed a couple of nights ago. That didn't wake me up. THE BREATH DID!!!! I woke up tinking the dog pooped in my bed and wiped on my face. I was shocked that it was my 3yo son.

I understand why it smells. It just surprised me. I guess it also doesn't help that in moments that I know he hurts (even though he denies it) when he starts drooling since he doesn't want to swallow.

BTW, he's doing fine! So much better than what we were expecting. He told us for the first time today that he is spider-man like he was pre-surgery. We caught him trying to leap off the coffee table today. He has been running around the house shooting his webs all day. What's his favorite food right now? muffins and cupcakes...any other situation, I would not let my boys eat this much cake, but he's got food in his stomach because of it.

Have a great night.

Megan the story is too funny; about the little girl! that is something Gwendolyn would have done growing up :lmao:

I love the pictures of the beach at Poly...I wanted to try that last year and forgot I think I am going to have to remember that this year...Ashton would so love the beach area...I bet he would like the electric parade too!

So, happy to hear Cooper is feeling better...I think if he was like Gwendolyn they have felt bad for so long that it became second nature...and finally feel better that a little sore throat is nothing!

:wave2: Connie
