***Hey, Hey! Come right in and plan, OFFICIAL OCTOBER 2017 thread!!!***

Hey October friends! I have an off topic question. :offtopic:

New Orleans. Have you been? Enough to do spend a week there? We are looking at a Tuesday to a Tuesday. Just the two of us.

I went in October 2016. I loved it!! Yes, there is enough to do to spend a week there!! So much history and fun things to do!! I was there for 5 days and I could have stayed 5 more!!

Sept 30-Oct. 7th - offsite Vistana
Just booked timeshare and bought 5 day park hoppers today. It will be our DD6 first trip to WDW - so excited to bring her! And it has been 8 or 9 years since DH and I have been to WDW - so lots to plan :) We will definitely attend MNSSHP and are looking forward to Food and Wine.

Oh perfect, thanks! We will be going in May 2018 for our week long trip for the year. We've never been, very excited! :)

Also, having this planned will help beat down those post trip Disney blues I'm sure to get!

We had our honeymoon there and it's one of our favorite cities. There's more than enough to do there to fill a week and then some! It's a wonderful place. I recommend Sully Mansion B&B in the Garden District. Easy access to the streetcar on St. Charles and walking distance to Magazine St. Have fun!

I love New Orleans! I think my favorite thing is the food! LOL! So many great places to eat! That alone is worth going for a week! LOL

Hi guys,
Talking about ticket increase , we can battle that . There are safe outside resources that give discounts . I used one on all ears.net site called maple leaf tickets twice . If anybody has other ones please list . Maybe we all can get that extra snack , gift or drink without guilt ; )

Luckily I bought my package already, so no increase for us. Unless we change our package, which we don't plan on!

From what I gather, you now have to buy a hopper and then a plus package to be able to go to Water Parks. Or just buy a single water park ticket I would imagine.
This wouldn't affect us as we always get park hoppers and we never go to water parks.

I can't really figure out how much the overall increase is though for something like I bought - 9 day hoppers. I read the thread, but they are talking about annual passes, expiring tickets, etc. and that doesn't apply to us as we only go once every few years.

I hope everyone doesn't have too much trouble buying the new tickets! :)

Under Cover Tourist still has "old" tickets with no expiration date and savings compared to old prices, "while supplies last"

Ugh, I REALLY want to go on vacation. Today. 9 months is so far away!!! :rotfl:

Luckily winter will be ending soon and spring/summer will be here before we know it. And living in Chicago we have a lot to do when the weather gets nice. Then I don't feel the vacation urge that badly.

I took the day off from work on my ADR day (a Friday) and we are going to go to the Shed Aquarium that day.
We have a great river walk downtown now, so we will do that for a few evenings.
Millennium Park has a great summertime series of free outdoor movies and also music in the park - orchestras. We love to do that at night in the summer.
Brookfield Zoo, we will go at least once.
Lincoln Park Zoo, we go a bunch.
Grilling outside in the evenings on weekends with friends, love that!
And as always trying out new restaurants or going to old favorites, with cocktails! ::yes::

And of course I'm always planning the next vacation - New Orleans!

How do you spend your time between vacations?

First off I love Chicago!!! The Field Museum is one of my most favorite places!!

I usually spend time between vacations just spending time with family, doing some long weekend getaways and casino trips. Work takes a lot of my time so I try to enjoy any time I have free.

One of the big things I do is research my next trip. I usually try to take 2 trips a year. That is the one good thing with my job. we get comp-time and I usually have a high balance and can take off about 4 weeks a year...but I usually don't. But this year I am. A week in Daytona in March, 2 weeks travelling the west in May/June then my birthday Disney trip in October.

I just love to travel....

I stopped getting notification for this thread for some reason.

I have a ton of plans, mostly based on historical data of which park tend to get EMH on which days, as well as Halloween parties. So basically this is all subject to change when the Offical info comes out if the days don't fall the way they have in the last few years. It looks like this thus far:

Sun 10-1 Animal Kingdom day
Tusker house ROL dinner package

Monday 10-2 Magic Kingdom day with morning EMH
Lunch and dinner at be our guest

Tuesday 10-3 Halloween Party day
Late lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern
Hallowishes dessert party

Wednesday 10-4 Hollywood Studios day with evening EMH at Magic Kingdom
No ADRs

Thursday 10-5 Epcot day
Lunch at Biergarten
Late Dinner at Rose and crown with outside seating to watch illuminations

Friday 10-6 Epcot morning Hollywood studios evening EMH
50s Prime Time early dinner
Maybe starwars dessert party

Saturday 10-7 Animal Kingdom day
Boma dinner

Sunday 10-8 unplanned park of choice in the morning/departure day
No ADRs

Every weekend when I get some me time and I sit down and plan, plan away. Next step is deciding on specific times for ADRs and eventually FP+.

My husband and I were talking about ADRs a bit last night after the kids went to bed. We might do a Tusker House ROL package. With Pandora being open I feel like we might spend more time there than we normally do. But I've also heard ROL might not hold the interest for little kids so that's a maybe. We will see what I think when I see it in April. If we don't we might head over to DHS and do Minnie's Seasonal Dine. I swore I wouldn't eat at H&V again, but the kids would love the characters in Halloween costumes. Also on my list is BOG because my 6 year old asked to eat there again and worked to eat something on the menu at home, which was a condition to book it again. I'm very indecisive about dining for this trip, but we also toyed with adding an extra day on then realized my son might have a last football game that Friday which would mess up our plans so we will see what we decide as we get more information. My husband knows the athletic director so I'm thinking we might ask him for the football schedule. I'm afraid if there's a game that weekend then we won't be able to make the trip unless I can talk my husband in to flying down. So much up in the air at this point!

How do you spend your time between vacations?

Planning! ;)

We moved to a new state just about a year ago, and so we are still exploring the area. There are a couple of theme parks semi-local(Sea World & Six Flags). I basically begged my husband to go to Sea World as it has been since Oct. since I was at a theme park. We used to live in SoCal, about 2 miles from DLR/Knotts, so I am very used to being able to go there when I want. The move out of state was very much a good decision, but I miss my theme parks. We put off our April trip to WDW, due to purchasing a house, which in the long run is a better choice. :thumbsup2

So for now, its all in planning. Using Touring plans to figure out what days to hit what. Of course that will change once tickets for the Halloween party are on sale. That is my high priority this trip, with ROL/Pandora being a close second. F&W is just a major bonus.

I did this for my trip over Thanksgiving last year and they changed up EHM days and I had to start over. :rotfl:

And just so you know, there are rumors that there will be no more evening EMH at DHS and DAK may get EMH evenings again.

So finishing off this most beautiful Chicago weekend with some trip planning in the "Florida" room while enjoying a Rum Chata!

So I was thinking about our Animal Kingdom day (we have two scheduled currently). A plan of attack I think will work will be to hit rope-drop to get Safari and Everestt done without fast passes, then Dinosaur, Primeval Whirl and trails and such. Then go back to hotel for pool time, then head to AKL for dinner around 5 and go back to Animal Kingdom for all the nighttime stuff and hopefully will have been able to snag some fast passes for Pandora at my 60 day mark. Of course this all subject to change based on park times, fast pass availability and maybe if they offer an after hours event, which I will GLADLY pay for. Rivers of Light is not a priority to me, so now worried about that. Just thoughts!

Love lazy Sundays!

Our animal kingdom plan sounds pretty similar- Everest first, then safari with Pandora fast passes in the early afternoon followed by a rest break at the hotel then a ROL dinner at tusker house. I do want to see rivers of light but I'm afraid I'll compare it to world of color and find that it comes up short for us being that it's only half as long and thus must have only half the story and none of the pyro effects but after all the delays and hoopla I just have to see it.

I am not a "show" person. At all. If I happen to be somewhere when parades and fireworks start, I will watch, but I don't make specific plans for it.
Except the Halloween party, I love that parade! :)

We used to be that way with shows and parades but the older my son gets the more he enjoys them and asks me to include them in our plans. He always tells me that dining package viewing areas or dessert parties for world of color are a must and then this year he wanted to watch both frightfully fun parades at the DL Halloween party. This from the kid who didn't manage to see fantasmic until his 12th trip to Disneyland or Aladdin until he was like 10.
