Hey DVC Members! How did you pick your DISboards User Name?

Outside of my own user name, I don't think I would have guessed correctly about the others!

Spicey was my cat - his picture - he died - still miss him. though about changing it - but others say to kept it.

he was loved - he never meet a stranger. even at WDW he would allow little ones to pet him. One kid told us his own cat would not allow him to touch her but Spicey did.

Like you, Simba was my cat. When I first joined the DIS, he was a tiny kitten we'd just gotten. When the DIS asked me for a user name, and I thought about it, this little kitten jumped up on my lap.
The fact that you didn't change your user name after Spicey died inspired me. Simba passed away about 2 months ago, at the ripe old age of 17.

I have different usernames for each Disney board I'm a member of. My username here is like Mikes. DVC owner and name is Don. Other boards: On one board it's my Disney vanity plate, on another it's where I own points, etc.

Sorry to read about Simba's passing.

I think most Wozniaks have been nicknamed Woz at one time or another. My other nickname is Bobbi.

No imagination -- Debbie Gaston becomes dgaston! One of my cats, Zelda recently passed away at 16. She was my Maine coon cat, a purring machine.

But my passwords are all related to the names of my pets now long gone!!! (no not using Zelda for this site)

OMG, I LOVE Maine Coons! Our other cat, Tigger, is Maine Coon. BTW, I've got my DVC shirt ready for the Woodstock Fair, Debbie-be on the lookout!

Sorry to be off topic-more stories of user names?

I've been ZephyrHawk almost as long as there's been an internet. Not just here, but everywhere I've ever participated in online sociability. It's the name of a racing sailboat from my parents' yacht club (and yes, that's just as pretentious as it sounds). I grew up racing with my dad and memorizing the local boats by their spinnakers. I've always loved boat names.

Uh... well, I guess I'm just not that creative what with using my name and all. However, I must say I TOTALLY dig the prior poster's username! That's some dedication I can respect, mate.

I am just about as creative as you.

Just my name, it fits me and I never forget it...which the older I get the harder that is. LOL.

Seriously when I joined these boards before 1999 I was such a computer newbie that I never even thought that people made up user names..so when it asked for my user name to me that just meant "what is your name". I think I had our very first computer a whole month before I was told about this message board...then it was another month or more before I realized there was more than 1 board, although back then there wasn't too many more.

Roo = favorite Disney character Rach = my name is Rachel 0906 = married in September 2006

I found the boards by a search when planning our 3rd year anniversary.

My husband and I are huge Tolkien fans - took a class on him and CS Lewis at university. Our cars are named after fantasy locations /themes. So when I joined here I took my plate name (DH, DD, and me) and added the Disney destination.

I was "given" the username by AOL a long time ago, and have been using it for all my online accounts since!

Disney- because we love Disney chica- just sounded neat with Disney 18- my number when I was on the rescue squad about 15 years ago.

Like most of you p, we've had several pets named after Disney characters. We had a Timon that was solid black and he had to be out to sleep at 15 years old. We now have a Simba and he is crazy.

When I joined the DISBoards many years ago, it was the first time I had ever joined a forum. I wanted to ask a question and found that I had to register. When asked what my user name would be I just put down "Granny", which has been a lifelong nickname based on a derivative of my last name. I think the fact that the user name was available gives you an idea of how long I've been here. :)

It was funny...for a while after I started, I got these really polite and almost condescending responses to my posts. Then I realized that everyone thought I was an elderly lady. So I added the "Yeah, I'm a Guy" to my signature (now part of my avatar) and found that the responses got more in line with the spirit of a public forum. :)

I love Disney, I'm a mom and live in Maine. DisMomME

Just a combo of a fave character and the comparison of Mpls to NYC. If you say it fast it kind of sounds like Minneapolis.
