My baby... my little boy.... is leaving for the Air Force today. Chris is off to learn to be a Tactical Aircraft Maintence Engineer.

Because of what happened with my mom last weekend, I have been so busy trying to work everything out for that that I havent been thinking of this whole life changing experience coming up.

I'm not sure how I can possibly handle one more huge change.

For literally months Jeff and I have been talking about how we would welcome the changes that are occuring right now. Moaning about how we can't use our kitchen (Josie, my moms help took it over) how we can't have any time to ourselves (Chris is home all day) and untold numbers of other complaints. And you know what? When it finally happens, not only can you not believe it but you start saying, Now wait a minute! maybe all that stuff wasnt so bad....

I know Chris needs to grow up and get out into the real world. Hes 18 now and can't sit around the house playing games and watching TV and hanging out with his freinds forever and even he welcomes these changes.... But this is my first baby to really be leaving the nest for good.

I stayed with his father at Lackland AFB (18 years ago) while he was going through Basic and training to be a military cop so I know a lot of what Chris will be going through. I will miss him so much. His sisters can't believe that he is going. They stayed up way too late last night talking to him because they won't see him this morning. This is the last time he will be able to sleep in... in who knows how long. They wake him up tomorrow morning at 3 AM(!!!) to get started at MEPS. Im not sure Chris can talk at that hour.

Well thats my little woo-is-me for this morning. I know when we get him down to where we drop him off I will be a wreak.

***SIGH***

Here he is dining at the Hoop De Doo this past Dec

 Hugs to you on this tough day! My Dad went in the Air Force when he was 18. He left his parents in PA and went to TX. His Mom was NOT thrilled. Blessings to you and your son!!!

Melora,

He's in excellent hands. Speaking from an Air Force member her self. He picked the correct branch of service. We know how to treat our people!!!

{{{HUGS}}} for you today especially.
