I was pricing rental cars for my 2 week vacation where I'll be driving from Pennsylvania down to Disney World. I had been planning on using Hertz, since I'd get my AAA discount with them. But when I looked on Avis's website, I found that their price was about $100 cheaper. I was wondeing if anyone who has used either or both of these companies could tell me if they'd recommend them. How is the customer service? What shape are their cars in? How are they at accommodating special requests? Thanks for the help.

I have, in the past, used Avis and they were fantastic. The cars are in excellent shape, the customer service is excellent and they do accomodate special requests within reason. I have had one reservation with Hertz and that was a total mess, thankfully, I had a back up with another company, but, that was years and years ago, but, it was bad enough for me to never use them again.

Hertz is always my go-to rental where ever I go. They are very reliable and nice cars, plus the flier programs, AAA, etc. But, lately their Orlando rates have been ridiculous. They forced us to switch to Enterprise at MCO. Every since they moved from their off-site location to the airport, Hertz has been non-competitive...always more expensive when we compare. Enterprise was great as well...and they let you pick your car from a few that are available at the moment of pickup.

Yes, Enterprise is great and they will also bend over backwards to get you something else if you don't like what you see on their line. I watch them scurry all over trying to please customers.
