I really wish we could be there on Friday night!! Really wanted to be able to do AC but there's just no way we can get there a day early. As it is dd is going to miss the last 3 days of school due to their having to make up snow days. Last day should have been the 17th. Ah well. But, looking forward to seeing you all on Sat night. I know my dd, 11, is really excited about kids her age being there. Might go over to the zazzle.com site and see what kind of Project X shirts we can come up with.

We are making up snow days too, but they are getting out on Monday and we leave on Thursday. They were suppose to get out the week before. I said if they had 2 more snow days to make up this year we would be OK, but after that we are leaving (but it is March now, and maybe we are safe for the rest of the school year).

I am glad we are going in June, but I have to admit I am feeling down about not going over spring break (we had just be there in December, so don't feel too sorry for us :blush: ). June won't be that far away. Once spring break is over it will really seem a LOT closer!

Ours is 4/4-8. We're not doing anything special that week as we just moved into a new house in a new area of metro Atlanta. We were supposed to be on the 4/2 Magic cruise but cancelled last month.

We haven't had any snow days here in Atlanta but I still can't get used to our school calendar - even after living here for 18 years! The kids start in early August and get out for the summer before Memorial Day. :crazy:

I'm really computer challenged, so can't post a link but it's zazzle.com if I remember correctly. Some have had a not great experience with them. Mine has been very positive. If you do get something from them be aware that a lot of their shirts tend to run a little small, so order up a size.

Hey everyone, just stopping by real quick - I'm real busy at work this last week so haven't had much time to DIS :(

But...after about giving up on it, out of the blue I have just been contacted by Disney about the option of getting discounted rooms! I guess they were just holding back for AP rates to be released last week.

So, when things calm down - everyone on the mailing list expect to get some details of that - there are conditions in that there has to be a guaranteed minimum of 10 rooms booked and the 1st night deposit is non-refundable after 30 days prior to departure, but I'll let everyone know that in the mail.

They did also mention discounted Convention tickets and the Quick & Casual Meal vouchers, etc too so details of that to follow.

Obviously you have to book an event in order to qualify for any of these discounts.

Please be patient with me though - the last week or so has been just crazy for me and so I'm stretched right now. I promise, as soon as I can I'll get the email out :)

Thanks Penny! We have been watching for resort discounts and right now only have something booked with the AAA discount. It would be great if we could get a better discount.

Sounds great! I'm glad Disney is willing to discount rooms. We booked YC with the discounted AP rate (thanks, Dagny!), but we'd still be interested to hear what Disney has to offer our little group :goodvibes

Penny, I'm sending you a PM with my family's new address (we've moved since we sent you our deposits!). Hope things calm down for you soon at work and again, thanks for all you're doing to make Project X a reality!

I know you are really busy and haven't had time to send the details of this yet, but I was wondering, with the resort discount, do we all have to use the same resort? Or is it just 10 rooms no matter what Disney resort we use?

Since you are just going to go and do the AK Safari Dinner as a Grand Gathering event - for those of us who did not send in a deposit for this, would we be able to do this now if we call Disney with the Grand Gathering number and pay now? Originally all of the after hours AK stuff was out of my budget, but now we might be able to do this. What would the final cost for the Grand Gathering event be? Thanks. Looking forward to the Illumination Dessert Party. :cool1:

Another question on this. Do we pay for the AK Magical Gathering event directly to Disney (I had sent in a deposit for the AK dinner to you before, so wondering if that check will be used or shredded).

Also, any details you have on the MK breakfast and the Fireworks Cruise you mentioned that would be available to us as a Magicial Gathering group would be great. I think I know a bit about the cruise, but is the MK breakfast different than the other breakfasts there (at CP and the Castle)? If it is a new character breakfast we might be interested in this.

Thanks again for all of your work. I sent an email in response to your email, but I wasn't sure if you would get it (I seem to remember you saying that that email address didn't recieve messages). The resort information was a bit confusing too. It sounded like you would have to make all the reservations at once which would be a mess!

It didn't say how (what number) to call to make reservations ourselves for resorts (or to order tickets for that matter). It would seem like a code or group number would be needed.

Anyway, sorry, maybe I am just slow, but it wasn't really clear to me how we (individually) could use this information to make our own reservations and order tickets.

I'm confused also. I am hoping Penny posts some more information soon. We may be interested in the MK if it is a new (different) breakfast than the CP or Castle one, but I don't know where it is (we would want to go on Saturday morning if that was possible, that is the only day we are going to the parks). The fireworks cruise sounds like a fun thing to do on Friday night also if that works out. I am not sure if 8 people from our group has to sign up or just 8 Magical Gatherings people (there would be others doing Magical Gatherings at the same time, I'm sure).

Anyway, I am just as lost as you are, so I think we need Penny to clear things up for us.

I know the AC on friday night is out of the picture. But what is to stop us from just meeting there and going on our own? I think if some of the group is still interested, we should just pick a time and go for it.....
 
Hey guys - bear with me here, the email account has been slammed with so many questions my head is spinning, hehehe.

Let me run through it all, answer the questions I can (I have info about the other GG experiences, etc) and make a list of questions I can ask the Disney rep for everything else...I just need to a bit of time to straighten it all out :)

I will say quickly - yes, the conditions on getting a group rate on the rooms are many, I threw it out there in case there is a chance we can make it work - just don't hold your breath ;) The reason I took the number out of the info is so that no one would try to book a room, you are correct, we need a Group # and to get that and make it possible for people to call up individually and pay for their discounted room I'd have to lay down my credit card to guarantee the 10 rooms - naturally I'm a little reticent to take that risk, especially when I don't even need a room as I'm DVC'ing it!

The GG breakfast is at Tony's, so is definitely different from Cindy's and Crystal Palace - I've heard excellent feedback about it too. Like the AK dinner, experiences are only held on certain days of the week, hopefully we'll be able to work something out to suit all!

8 people from the entire pool of our Grand Gathering group have to attend in order to qualify for an experience.

I will give you a GG number and yes, you all then call Disney independently to join the GG, pay, etc. For anyone who's already sent me the deposit for the AK dinner, I'll simply destroy the checks or apply it to the Dessert party balance if applicable - I'll work with each person on a case by case basis on what scenario will work best for everyone.
