Here it is - Announcement re More FP+ Beginning 4/28

I don't like this, now everyone is going to be standing in kiosk lines to stand in fast pass lines. Just seems dumb. Standing in the line builds excitement and anticipation. I wish people would stop rushing and enjoy the moment. I went to HS NYE in 2010 and we stood in very long lines in a very crowded park, but we still had a blast. I just don't get this current trend :confused3 relax and wait in line...:hippie:

If you don't care about standing in long lines, don't use the extra FP. As a bonus to you, your lines may be even longer ;). More anticipation for the ride!

Just out of curiosity, I wonder why they would choose to implement this at kiosks first and then roll over to the phone app as you suggest?

The Orlando Sentinel article says they are working to add this functionality to the app. Updating the phone app takes longer than updating an internal kiosk application because the app has to be written for multiple different operating systems. The ability of the phone to be anywhere in the "World" also has to be taken into account. Kiosks are in a fixed location.

I think it's because they want to make sure when you hop to a different park that you were actually in the park before you make the fast pass reservation. It may also discourage people from making that fourth one if they have to go find a kiosk and wait in a line. Does seem silly when the whole purpose was to be able to use technology and use the app.

For now, its my belief that Disney wants you to be in the park that you are getting a fp for. I would agree that they are trying to discourage people from getting more. Once those kiosk lines get really long, people are going to think twice about standing in them. Waiting in a long line to save some time later at another line??? I just don't think they have enough fp available.

People are going to complain about the kiosk lines and Disney will have no choice but to make changes again. Therefore, its my belief they will allow the 4th fp and any others you get to be made from the app later on once people start complaining again. It makes no sense whatsoever to stand in a long line to avoid standing in another. There are only 2 solutions to this. 1) Add several more kiosks or 2) Allow guests to use the app.

Maybe if everyone complains enough, they'll put in some interactive queues in the kiosk lines. That will be fun right? ;)

These changes were part of the plan all along.
Here you go Sammie!!!!! Tom Staggs made it a point to say "As we’ve said from the beginning, MyMagic+ will continue to evolve over time with the aim of continuing to improve our guests’ experience with us and in response to feedback from our guests. Today’s news is another chapter of that story and we look forward to sharing more with you as we continue to roll out and refine MyMagic+. Continue checking the Disney Parks Blog for more details."

This is all the proof you need! :thumbsup2 Man- I sure am glad I listened to Disney, you and the other people I just mentioned earlier.......because if I had listen to them I may have foolishly cancelled my trip.....nothing has turned out to be the way they all claimed it was going to be. Some of them said they were never going to Disney again because of FastPass+ and now they're here pretending like they didn't say that. Mmmm hmmm....they know who they are. :rotfl2:

Makes sense, thank you!

I don't go to WDW to relax and stand in line. I'm not sure this is a current trend, most people I know have never "had a blast" spending most of their theme park day in 2 hour lines for rides. Its great that you can have a fabulous time doing that, but I'm not sure what you don't get about others not having the same experience as you :confused3

I've never stood in a two hour line ever. If you get to parks early and understand how to tour each park, in the past I could always get away without fast passes. I was always able to do everything I wanted to do. On the NYE example I gave for instance, we rode TSMM 3 times by going once first thing in the morning and twice late at night after the NYE fireworks - all three times were walk-ons. Good planning. And I do go to WDW to relax. I plan my days ahead of time. I don't normally go with a large group or with kids who need strollers, so we're not hauling a lot and we're not waiting on a lot of people. Not everyone can do this, but that's how I do it. And I don't set unrealistic expectations.

Also, I guess I'm the only person that enjoys the line scenery. :confused3 For instance, HTH is gorgeous. I've let people pass me in line to take pictures of the hotel. I know that's not everyone's state of mind, but I do think people miss some wonderful details.

I like being able to book fastpasses online, but I still think standing in a kiosk line to stand in fastpass line is stupid. At least this will make more since if they move it to be able to get another fastpass online after one is used.

Everyone can not get my point. I like to plan ahead, smell the roses, enjoy the wait in line, the scenery and talks with friends and cast members and enjoy the ride when we get there. I've never waited in line for two hours or even an hour...because I'm a DISer - new screen name, same mindset ;) Plan Plan Plan.

Ha ha!!!!! I don't get this trend either.....but there is nothing "current" about it. I'm even pressed to call it a trend because it's dated and old fashioned...I can guarantee you that most people don't think like this about lines------especially at an amusement park.

When I read your post I instantly thought of Coachella - Rockin in Rio and Tommorowland..... the pictures alone will cause some of these people to be stressed. :rotfl2:

Most people don't care that much about standing in line because they know how to have a good time anywhere. These people are going to get married and have kids....so instead Tommorowland and Coachella - they'll go to Disney and have a good laugh at people complaining about lines. :rotfl2:

Ahhh......so glad it's not just me. I also think it is very stupid. Now....I'm just going relax and chill. :hippie:

Perhaps when this catches on and there's long lines at the kiosks that will eliminate longer lines at a ride. So while people wait for a fastpass, you can wait in the stand by line.

...maybe they could add fastpass kiosks to all of the individual rides to help with the lines... :rotfl:

I think it's because they want to make sure when you hop to a different park that you were actually in the park before you make the fast pass reservation. It may also discourage people from making that fourth one if they have to go find a kiosk and wait in a line. Does seem silly when the whole purpose was to be able to use technology and use the app.

2 things- one techie, one business:

Techie
They're sectioning the day of FP's that you can make in-Park from the same data monstrosity everyone around the world is pinging on to make future ressies for many performance reasons (they didn't invest huge amounts of cash in those kiosks and their infra to have them go away anytime soon...)

Business
They'd rather you didn't hop but stayed in the Park you're in. They don't want guests banging on the app to see what's available in the next Park, grab it, and go. That's why the kiosks, that's why they're now sectioning off FP's from the broader pool, that's why you'll only be able to see what's available for the 4th, 5th or 6th in the Park you are in.

The truth is that each party is going to have to decide each time they want to get an additional FP whether they think the time they will be spending in the kiosk line will be less than the time they would be waiting in line for that next attraction in the absence of a FP. And there's just no way to know for sure.

However, only one person from the party needs to go to the kiosk. So, with a group, if you have one person who doesn't like a certain attraction, they can go get the additional FP+ while others do said attraction. Also would work well for a party doing rider swap.

Really? So what are the next ones?

Sorry, I don't share things my personal friends that work for Disney share with me confidentially. I only share what they give me the ok to share.

Others besides myself have said that this was just the first phase; that it would evolve slowly.

I will say I have not heard of any other changes other than these. I was told early on, that later in the process, more than 3 Fastpasses would be allowed and you could park hop.

My only complaint with the changes is basically if you book fireworks, you can't participate, I would hope there would be an adjustment to that.

I do think they will increase the number given and allow them to be used at more than park. I think that was in the long range plans all along.

And someone asked if they had planned all along to give more than 3 and park hop, why not do that from the beginning and not anger all these people.

And I laughed. Because those people if given 4 or even 5 at first would have still complained but after getting 3, they may very well be pleased to get one or two more and park hop.

Disney did not become the company they are without being smart.

It's doesn't seem silly when one recognizes that the "whole purpose" was to get people to pre-plan and commit to being at a WDW park. Disney is fine with allowing additional FP+ for the purposes of guest satisfaction, but it doesn't really benefit them beyond that, so they won't push it/advertise it/etc. They do benefit from having people pre-plan time in the parks, so they are pushing that aspect of FP+.

The use of technology was a means to an end, not the goal of the project. I don't see how you could use paper FP to get people to plan ahead of time to be in a specific park.
