Here it is - Announcement re More FP+ Beginning 4/28

We leave Saturday also, not sure we want to be the guinea pigs though! :scared: We just moved all of our FP+ up so that we might get a chance to get more for later in the day.
Has anyone heard yet if you can get a FP+ for another park while already in a different park? For example, if we have used our 3 FP+ in MK for the day can we then get a FP+ for Epcot from MK or do we need to go to Epcot to get the additional FP+ ?

Sorry if this has been posted already as I ready the first 5 pages of the thread and then the last two...but I got an email from Disney that says the following:

Today we are excited to share that starting on Monday, April 28, 2014, all Walt Disney World® Resort Guests will be able to make additional FastPass+ selections at in-park kiosks after they have redeemed their original (up to three) selections.

•Guests will be able to make one additional selection at a time, based on availability. After they redeem that additional selection, they can go to a FastPass+ kiosk to make another selection, and so on. (The additional FastPass+ selections must be made at a kiosk only.)
•Guests will be able to make their additional selection(s) for an experience at which they already redeemed a FastPass+ selection earlier that day.
•Guests with valid park-hopping privileges will be able to make their additional selection(s) at another park. Those selections must be made at a kiosk in the park where the desired experience is located.

Key note on the second bullet point...you CAN make a FP+ selection for a ride you already rode with your fourth FP+ choice.

You know I am sure for some this is hard to accept, but some of us truly understood, about rope drop, etc, etc; but honestly we didn't do it because we did not understand or research or whatever, we didn't do it because we did not "want" to.

Just like you wanted to, we didn't. It's all good just different.

We weren't uninformed or lazy or whatever, we just wanted to do it "our" way.

I'm sorry you took what I said as an insult to the way you tour, it wasn't meant to be. What you said is a perfect example of what I'm saying. The way to get the most out of the parks has always been pretty clear, yet for whatever reason (I never said everyone was uninformed or lazy :confused3) some people chose not to do it. Arriving somewhere at opening for lowest crowds is common sense. FP+ and the rolling FP+ is not going to suddenly motivate people who didn't want to do it before.

My point was rope drop and use of FP- was not a heavily guarded secret. People who didn't use chose not to. I can't see (and I really hope I'm right) FP+ greatly changing it. Human nature is hard to change. Saying arriving at rope drop is the most efficient way to tour isn't implying any other way is lazy, it just is one of the best times of the day. That's like if I said touring in the last hour of EMH is being efficient, it's true (or used to be) and it's not implying people who skip it are lazy.

The truth is that each party is going to have to decide each time they want to get an additional FP whether they think the time they will be spending in the kiosk line will be less than the time they would be waiting in line for that next attraction in the absence of a FP. And there's just no way to know for sure.

i hope they plan to put a bunch more kiosks in the parks if they're only going to allow additional FPs to be booked via kiosk. The lines will be atrocious in the latter half of the day (as I believe they already are all the time). There should be one at every FP ride in fact. They should have just done what I have said all along - converted all the FP machines to FPP kiosks and everything would be the same except with the ability to pull a FPP from ANY of the FP rides without having to run over to that ride, instead of going through this whole rigamarole with the app and the 3 FP max, yada, yada, yada. With the added bonus of course of being able to pre-reserve online if you like.

Great info. Thanks! :thumbsup2

Lovely!! By the time we get to other parks all the FP+ will more than likely be gone :rolleyes2

You said quote: They aren't going to research how to tour efficiently if they didn't before. I took that to mean uninformed, if you did not mean it that way. What did you mean?

And see you said it again, "the way to get the most out of the parks", that is your opinion, not fact.

I know you did not mean to insult anyone, but others have called many lazy, etc. over all these changes. And it really was not insulting but more of being condescending.

It's about doing things differently. I am glad your plan works for you but it is not the only way to do Disney. It just a different way to do it.

Everyone has different goals and as long as those goals are met, then that plan is very thought out, pre-planned researched and efficient and for them is the "Best".

Intriguing. I am interested in this: after they have redeemed their original (up to three) selections.

So, if I make three selection on MDE and cancel two, leaving just Soarin' at EPCOT, can I ride Soarin' and then hop to another park and make another selection? I can't wait to see people's real-world reports of how all this works.

How do you cancel the 2 though it was my experience I had to pick 3 or it would pick for you if you did not?

Yes, some people don't research, some people know the most efficient ways to tour and choose not to. I didn't say everybody didn't research, that's how you're interpreting.

It isn't my opinion that arriving at rope drop, using FP- efficiently (in the past) allowed someone to get the most out of the parks. It's fact. I'm referring to the most as in most attractions, not most enjoyment as that's subjective. All I'm saying is it was very obvious how to fit the highest number of attractions into your day before, people who chose not to do it are likely not going to suddenly schedule 3 FP+ from 9-12 and arrive early when they didn't do it before.

You're preaching to the choir when you say everyone has different goals. That's what I'm saying. The people who want to ride the most rides are already the ones arriving early. That's why I'm not panicking about these changes (yet ;)). A rolling 4th FP+ is not suddenly going to make people blow through their 3 FP at a time they normally wouldn't even be in the park. I think (hope) that the rolling FP is not near enough motivation to draw someone into the park hours before they normally would arrive if the benefits of rope drop itself never did that.

Regarding park hopping, can you use the kiosks in any park, or only in the park where you are going. For example, if I go to Epcot in the morning and use my 3 fast passes, can I use Epcot kiosks to book my next Magic Kingdom fast pass, or do I have to go to the Magic Kingdom first and use one of their kiosks?

You must go to MK first, at least for now. Unless iPad-equipped CMs may be able to assist.

It occurs to me that if everyone gushed, and no one complained, that changes such as today's would be unlikely. Everyone plays a part.

So multi rides allowed. I hope this means tier 1 rides will also be allowed if you already did a tier 1.

I tend to think that they planned on using these "extra" slots to sell or incentivize guests to stay onsite but that dissatisfaction was so high they had to add them back into the system.

That of course is based on absolutely nothing. :p

Maybe. Maybe not. There are many people who will just book their 3 fp's and that will be it. Of those people, many do not even use all 3 fp's.

I don't like the fact that Disney is forcing FP's on people who wouldn't normally use them and who don't even want them.
