Here in Disney... with Pics!!!

Hi All!

I'm glad everyone is enjoying the report and pics!

I am going to break MGM into 2 posts, as I have A LOT of pics, and I don't think they would all fit into 1!

Here goes.....

Good Morning! Yesterday (Monday), we spent the entire day at MGM. The weather was absolutely gorgeous, with a high in the low 80’s and a low of 71! This was the first day that we didn’t need a jacket at night.

We got a semi late start to the day, since Sunday night we stayed out later for the EMH at MGM. So, by the time we made it to the parks it was 12:45 pm (I know… I know…. What a waste of a day!)

But, I did get some nice pics of the animals outside of our balcony in the morning! These are all from our balcony!!!!

Our first item on the agenda was to look at the line up for the shows. We saw that there was a 1:15 pm showing of Lights, Motor, and Action Stunt Show, so we head that way (of course that has to be all the way in the back of the park, huh??). This was our first time seeing this show. I don’t know how many people this theater holds, but it was full! There is only 3 showing of this show per day, so I’m sure everyone one them is full!

lightsmotor.jpg

The show was great!! It kind of reminded me of Indiana Jones, not the theme, but the layout. Certain scenes are created to show you how it is done in the movies. I bet they go through a lot of tires during that show!

After the action show, we head over to “Who wants to be a millionaire” for the 2:20 pm game. Did you know this theater holds 650 people? The theater is full, but we had no problem getting in. This was not my year for the “fastest finger game!” I never made the top 10! Last year, I was number 1 on the top 10 (but never got called down as the game had ended by the time I was number 1, of course, I don’t know what I would have done if I actually got called down anyways!!)

millionare.jpg

In our game, there was only one person who had time to be in the “hot seat”, and that was a 13 year old boy. The host was helping him out with the answers, which was kind of cool, as he got to 8000 points and walked away with some pins and a hat. He got into the hot seat, not by knowing the answers, but by hitting the buttons fast enough! The host said the youngest person to get into the hot seat was a 2 yr old!

Next, we headed over to TOT and Rockin Roller Coaster. We first grab a FP for TOT, (by this time it is 3:00 pm, and our FP is for 3:30 pm.. not too bad!!!). We then get in the Stand by line for TOT. The wait time says 25 minutes, but it actually was only about 10-15 minutes. We literally walked right into the inside of the hotel lobby without every having to stop. How nice!

tot.jpg

Now, TOT is my favorite ride at MGM, and I always make sure I get to ride it at least 3 times while I am down in Disney. However, I have learned some lessons this year (as I’ll explain!!). We ride TOT, and then proceed over to Rockin Roller Coaster, as it is not yet time to use our FP. Oh, I forgot to elaborate…. MIL does NOT like either of these 2 rides.. she is more the It’s a small world type ride. So… we left her on the main strip of the MGM shops so that she could shop at her own pace! (Which, I’m sure FIL was so appreciative of.. ha ha!!!! ).
FIL, however, LOVES the action rides!! So, he came with DH and me on both rides.

We head over to Rockin Roller Coaster, and the wait time says 20 minutes. Again, it was actually more like 10-15 minutes. I get off the ride feeling more shaky than normal… was it the TOT and Rockin Roller Coaster Combo???

RCC.jpg

Still, I'm able to smile for the camera...... I can handle it, right???

I don’t know about all of you, but that ride really throws me for a loop!! (pun intended ha ha!!) I feel fine ON the ride, but boy do I feel it coming off!!

By this time, it is now time for our TOT FP. At this point, I am starting to think this is not a good idea, as I am already feeling a bit woozy. But, I can’t waste a perfectly good FP, or a TOT ride! So, we proceed to get into line and ride TOT yet again. Boy, that really wasn’t a good idea! Of course, it seemed like this time we had more drops than ever, and DH was even feeling it after this ride! He commented on how I looked a bit green after this ride (I had to admit… my Mickey Waffle from this morning felt like it wanted to come and make an appearance after that ride!!!).

2ndTOT.jpg

Would you believe the only one of us that was remotely thinking of being able to ride either ride again immediately was FIL?????

So, lesson learned for me….. Do NOT ride TOT and Rockin Roller Coaster back to back! Space them out!!! Don't get me wrong... I LOVE action rides, but maybe not in a row??!!

By this time, it is now 4:00 pm. We head over to the last showing of Beauty and the Beast. This is perfect, as now I can RELAX and allow my stomach to calm down before dinner!!!!

Part 2!

After the show, we head over to 50’s Prime time for our 5:00 pm dinner
reservations. I have never ate here before… what a hoot!!!

We had Cousin Pip as our Server.

Pip, (well the back of Pip!)

pip.jpg

He played along, and MIL even left him speechless at some points, as she came back with some great lines!!! Pip was picking on the kids at the table behind us, as they just came back from the bathroom. He was asking them if they washed their hands, they said yes, he asked “what color was the soap?” They got that part right (blue), but then he asked.. “Was the soap bar or liquid?” Uh oh.. They couldn’t answer that!!!

We even saw a man who got sent to the corner… I don’t know what he did!!

personincorner.jpg

We saw quite a few people get “green bean sundaes” as they didn’t finish their green beans, and quite a few got an announcement to the entire restaurant that they didn’t finish their green beans, and needed everyone to make airplane noises. I, on the other hand, beat the system (and embarrassment), but putting all my left over green beans on FIL’s plate!!!

I have to say, the food was just “okay”. I had the meatloaf, which was kind of dry, and really didn’t have too much flavor. DH has the pasta primeriva, which he said was good, and MIL and FIL had the fried chicken, which they both said was okay.

We had Onion rings before dinner with horseradish sauce, which were VERY Good!! Of course, we had to have dessert (which you read through the view finders!!!)

DH and I shared Dads Super Sundae, and MIL and FIL shared the smores.

All in all, the food and atmosphere was good, but I thought their prices were a bit high for what you got. 16.00 for fried chicken, 16.00 for 1 piece of meatloaf? I don’t mind paying for good food, but in this case, I really didn’t think it was worth what they charged. They certainly were not 50’s pricing … ha ha!!!!

After dinner, we head over to Fanstamatic. We get there at 6:50 pm… 10 minutes until show time! We are in the very last section, which wasn’t bad, as we still got a great view. In case you are wondering…. The “waves” still exists!!!!! Look at the crowds!!

fanstamatic.jpg

Such a good show as usual!

After Fantasmatic, we head over to the Great Movie Ride (it is now 7:55 pm) to ride our last ride of the day. (Park closes at 8:00 pm). Always a classic!

We head back to the hotel (only 4 other people on the bus with us!!) at 8:45 pm. We go and tour the rest of the hotel, and then head back to relax!

All in all, a great day, with little wait times for rides and shows! Gotta love December!

Today….. Off to MK in addition to our very first time at MVMCP!!! I can’t wait!

The weather today is supposed to be only a high of 65 degrees (a cold front is coming in), but I don’t care! The USA Today paper that was left for us at the hotel says it will be a high of 35 degrees and snow today back home!!!

:cold: :cold: :cold:

Thanks so much for posting and sharing your vacation with us. We will be there next week so your report is like a pre-trip.

I get queezy riding both rides (ToT and RnR) back to back too...at first I thought it ws the 5 Backyard Lemonades and chicken salad I had at 50's PrimeTime just before getting on the rides...but I guess not :rotfl2:
It is hard to resist riding both since they are next door to one another!

I am realy enjoying your report and look forward to your next installment :goodvibes

Ha ha!!! That is true!!! I was tempted to order a drink from "Dads liquor cabinet" at 50's prime time, but I thought that wouldn't be such a good idea!!!

:cold: Up here in NH it is now 32 and the sun is trying to come out. We didn't get any snow not sure how south of us is. I would take 65 over 32 any day. Have fun, love the pictures.

Hi All!

Well, here it is, 12:20 pm already, and we STILL have not yet made it to the parks (I know... I know... what a waste, especially 2 days in a row!!)

But.... we were able to see the baby Giraffe!!! The baby was born right here at the lodge on Thanksgiving day. The baby is 130 lbs!!!

Notice, in the pics that mom is very protective of the baby (Dad spent most of the time eating from a far), and that there is an Ankole Cattle that is very curious of the Giraffe! There is few pics below where you can see mom chasing the cattle away.

In case anyone is coming down soon, the baby giraffe can be found on the Uzima Savannah!

You're making me want to stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and I don't have the money to stay at a deluxe! Not Fair!!! jealous :badpc: Glad you are having a great time and taking advantage of the resort.
Please, please, please take lots of pics of MK!!! That is my favorite park :goodvibes

I really enjoyed reading and seeing your pictures posts. I will be there Dec 26-Jan 3 2006.

My SIL just got back from FL and she said the weather was great!

I can't wait to ride TOT and the Rockin Rollercoaster!

I have to ask you about the food. Were those eating places recommended to you from this board or did you kind of venture out on your own?

And out of the eating places so far, which restaurant did you like best?

Any advice would be appreciated too, since I'll be there in a couple of weeks. :earsgirl:

Hi!

Most of my decisions were based on reviews in the 2005 and 2006 Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World book, and the photos I saw of the food on the dining part of this forum (the one where you can post photos of Disney food).

Also, allearsnet.com has a list of pretty much every restaurants menu, so that is helpful before you decide on a place!!

So, far, my favorite was totally Jiko!!! My least favorite was 50's prime time.
