Here comes Wilma..........................

Hello everyone,

Well thought you guys would like an update on Hopefully the Final hurricane of 2005.!!!!
As some of you may know I live in Ft Myers - Weather here today has been quite sunny - not a breath of wind ( It really was the calm before the storm )
As the day went on it got steadily cloudier and we had a few drops of rain.
Currently it is 10.13 pm and the weather is starting to deteriate quite quickly now - heavier rain storms and the wind is picking up.
Wilma is forecast to make landfall in Naples which is about 20 miles away from here - a cat 2 storm - winds sustained at 100 mph with gusts up to about 135mph. Ft Myers is still in the path for a severe battering - my house is boarded up and I am hoping that I do not lose my screen enclosure - have only just had it put back up from last years storms !!!
Well everyone I best sign off now - Stay safe anyone who is here on vacation ( And residents )and I will update you all when power is restored.

Hi everybody,
Well its 8.25am & she's hit. We are at our house at Tuscan Ridge & its chucking it down. There are tornado warnings for Disney, Polk & Kissimmee so we are staying in doors & keeping the kids away from the windows.
Just noticed a leak from the ceiling in the reading room, looks as though I have some repairs & decorating to do!
Still, MGM was cracking yesterday, the kids loved Indy (again) & managed to get Dan (our 4 year old) on Star Wars. Problem is he keeps singing the music & shooting Darth Vader!

Our thoughts and prayers are with all those folks that may be affected by Wilma, after our experience of Charley last year, we have much more sympathy than we would have done - hopefully all damage will be at a minimum, power cuts short and spirits high

I just heard that the worst of Wilma has now passed over Florida.
Anyone got any news on how bad it was for our Floridian buddies?

She passed really quite quickly. You could see the couds zooming past. At 1.00pm we took the kids up to the swings & slide & you would never have believed that a hurricane had passed. By 4.00 we were at Costco & Linen & Things.
Glad its all over now.
