Ok. We have a problem with the who is sleeping with who thing. Traveling is my Mom, my sister, my DS 1 1/2 in a crib, and DD 5 and of course me!
NO ONE wants to sleep with DD! She is all of 31 pounds and could be described as a peanut but holy cow is she tough to share a bed with. Even in a king sized be she takes over the whole thing. You wake up on the floor or with her on top of you, not to mention she mumbles, groans, and sometimes snores. She is so cute though!
Well is there anyway to get a cot rolled in? If not does anyone have any suggestions of what I can buy for her to sleep on? I don't want it to be too heavy in the luggage. The child NEEDS her own bed or we will look like this  during our trip!

How about a twin-sized aero bed. They have a built-in pump so they are easy to inflate, yet they don't weigh that much.

If you can't or don't want to reserve a 2 bedroom (best option, IMHO), either bring an aero bed as Michaelmouse suggests or just pack a sleeping bag. Kids don't seem to mind sleeping on the floor - at least mine didn't!

Another option is to make a bed out of the cushions from the sleeper sofa.

Enjoy the trip!

I love the couch cushion idea! Thanks for that. Right now we are in a studio but are hoping to switch to a 1 bedroom. 2 bedroom is out of the question if I want my 2005 trip!;) and I do need the 2005 trip!

Hopefully your 1 bedroom will come through, you will be really tight in a studio with only a queen bed & a double sleeper sofa. When the sleeper sofa is open, there isn't much room left. You could request a room with a daybed, but if your daughter jumps around alot she would probably fall off it.

I've seen a few posts suggesting that you can take the mattress off of the sleeper sofa and put in on the floor next to the re-folded sofa - you could put DD down on the mattress and you could sleep up on the sofa (so that she doesn't roll off onto your head!!)

Shan - thanks for the link - I need one of these for grandkid sleepovers!!

Aerobeds are great but are WAY too expensive.

You can basically buy the same thing for about $40 at Target, Walmart, Sam's, etc.

I'd second the idea of an air mattress or an aerobed. My mom has the best air mattress I've EVER tried...it's a Coleman...and it's incredibly comfortable. This is the first one I've tried that doesn't leak air in some way or just deflate over time. My 3yo slept on it over Spring Break and it was inflated for 6 days straight without adding air.

Aerobeds look great...I'd try one in a heartbeat...but they are expensive.

Be careful, though. I've read on these boards of people that bought similar beds, but were disappointed.

You can find them cheaper if you look round, even online.
Overstock.com had them at one time for instance.

I bought mine on clearance at Rich's for cheap.
we love it and it has come in handy several times.

We bought a twin Coleman at Target for $20. It is just a mattress; we bought an external battery-powered pump. We used it for the first time last month at BCV, it worked fine.

Before we bought the Coleman, we would fold up the cover from the King-sized bed and my kids took turns sleeping on that on the floor.

We have a sleeping bag that you can purchase at Target, Toys r us, or JC Penney, that has an air mattress sewn into the sleeping bag, so a child cannot roll out of it. They are relatively cheap, and people on ebay sell them all the time. They are called "readybeds", and you can go to their website at www.readybed.com.

Good luck,
Beca

Someone suggested that you use the sofabed mattress on the floor and the sofa like a regular sofa to sleep on. When we tried that at home once, it didn't work. I wouldn't rely on that for an acceptable sleeping arrangement.

15yo DS piled the chair cushions in our 1 bdrm last time (he really dislikes how uncomfortable the pull-out is).
it may work with a 5yo, but be aware that the cushion heights vary, so it might not be very comfortable (YMMV of course ;) ).
i bought a twin aerobed for this & future trips (at Linens & Things ~ with 20% coupon, and a rebate). it's extremelly comfortable (yup, we tried it ~ better than many regular mattresses!), sturdy, inflates & deflates in seconds, & has a built-in pump (as well as a "carrying case") ~ & we can use it for sleep-overs, overnight guests, camping, etc.

btw, we checked out "other" types ~ many only came in "queen", and/or required a seperate pump, and/or were too "skimpy" for what we needed/wanted.
try checking various brands/styles at different stores (sporting goods stores carry many diff types).
good luck!!

I agree with ARMINNIE, the Aero beds are great but way to expensive. I have 2 of them, I have the Coleman raised airbed, in a full/queen size it is so comfortable. It is about the same height as a regular bed. It is from Walmart and was about $60? I also have a coleman raised twin size. the twin size is off the floor but not as high as the full/queen.
I myself prefer the kids on the higher beds when we are traveling,

If you don't mind them closer to the ground. I have heard the ready beds are great. Amazon.com, target, and the Nick shop all have versions. They come with the little sleeping bag. If you are in a studio, I would suggest the ready bed, It would be your best bet as far as space. You can prop it up against the wall when you awake for the day.

I have bought a Princess version of this, For a friend who lets his 6 yr old sleep on the floor in hotel rooms. They make up a bed with sheets, but I still think it is gross!!!!

Someone on one of the other boards suggested QVC. Go to the web site and do a search for kids beds. The have the sleeping bag/mattress bed for $35 I think. The looked cute and small.

I will be bringing a twin-sized aerobed (purchased at Overstock.com a few months ago) for the first time on our upcoming August vacation in a one-bedroom at BWV. With my 16yoDS and 12yoDD, sharing the foldout couch was simply not an option. ;) And we just don't have the points this year for a two-bedroom.

Could anyone tell me where the best location is for the aerobed to be used? That is, where in the BWV living room will there be enough room on the floor once the couch has been opened? I know there is the option of having one child sleep on the closed couch to make room for the aerobed on the floor, but given the size of my kids, I don't think eithr one would want to sleep cramped on the couch like that for ten nights. Mornings would not be a pretty sight. lol

And call me selfish, but if at all possible I rather not share my master bedroom with a child sleeping on my floor. So keeping them both in the living room would be wonderful! Thanks for any help you can offer!!

I slept on the couch of a 1 bedroom at BWV, I thought it was pretty comfortable, more comfortable than with the sleeper pulled out. I took the cushions off the back to make more room.
