Hi! I have been a quiet reader for a while but a first time poster. My family (Hubby, Me, and twin 4 year olds) is going on the Disney Cruise May 4-8 but we have added on 2 days before and will be staying at Port Orleans Riverside. I really do not want to spend the money to go to the park but enjoy some of the other things that disney has to offer. This is what I have in mind for you experts can you tell me what you think.

We arrive really early saturday may 2nd
Breakfast at Port Orleans
Play at one of the hotel playgrounds
get checked in and a nap
maybe pool
I have booked the Character dinner at 1900 Fare at the grand Floridian

Sunday
The Buccaneer thing at Port Orleans
Downtown Disney or Board walk
And then Fort Wilderness for the wagon ride and sing along campfire

Does this seem reasonable? I would just rather same going to the park for when my kids don't nap any more.

Thanks!

Yes this sounds great. I would choose Downtown Disney over the Boardwalk (not really much to see at the Boardwalk).

:welcome:

I think your activities sound great, but we have stayed at POR and honestly the pool for our 4YO IMO isn't the best (more deep areas). This last trip we stayed at CBR and their pool area was amazing and IMO better suited to our youngest two kids. They have a splash area and the pool there has more shallow areas and two water slides. Just food for thought if the pool is going to be a big part of one of the two days, it will make a difference which resort you stay at. Also there is a pirate cruise from CBR as well for convenience purposes. I also agree with PP I would to DTD over the boardwalk. Another idea if you want to hit both would be to do the Pirate cruise from Beach club, then you and DH could hit the boardwalk while the kids are doing that and then go the DTD afterwards as a group.

Downtown Disney has a few little rides the kids might like - I think there's a little train and carousel. I agree with PPs that there is probably more there for younger ones than Boardwalk.

Another nice option might be a trip to Animal Kingdom Lodge. The resort is beautiful and if your kids love animals they might really enjoy it. We stopped at one vista and there was a wildlife expert there to explain what we were seeing.

There are definitely plenty of things to do at Disney without going to the parks!

Thanks for the pool tip! I was hoping it was kid friendly but did not get that sense from what I read. Since we are going on the cruise I may fill in with something else. Maybe we will go for a tram ride around the park. :) I also like the tip of going to the boardwalk while the little people are being pint sized pirates!

I Love this idea! I have not ever been to animal kingdom and I think all of us would like that!

DTD for sure....you can boat there from POR.

They do a firepit at POR also (and movies on the lawn at night), so you may just consider staying at POR rather than running over to FW.

There is also fishing at POR for small fee.

I saw that POR has a movie night but my son would love the wagon ride and horses and I from what I read Chip and dale are at that one and they are two of my favorite characters!!!

Port Orleans French Quarter has a very kid friendly pool! My 5 year old loved it there last year:)

Just want to chime in and say we love POR! I would also say to go with DTD. Our girls were 3 and 4 on their first visit and they loved walking around DTD and taking the boat from POR.
