I booked my fiance and I a standard room for 7 nights at Royal Pacific (June 30-July 7), but I have read so many mixed reviews that I am wondering if I made a poor decision :confused3 . We weren't originally going to go on a honeymoon (our wedding is June 29th), but we changed our mind at the last minute. There were not a lot of rooms available, and I had no idea what to request when I called to make the reservation. Where do people recommend we stay? The Portifino is a little out of our budget and I really like the RPH theme (at least before the renovations). We are very active people and want to enjoy everything Universal has to offer (I have never been there before), so we won't be spending a lot of time in our hotel. However, I still want a nice room. Should we try to change hotels, try to get club level at RPH, upgrade to a suite, or take our chances and see what happens?

Also, are there any places/shows/restaurants that people recommend?

Thanks for your help!

We have only been to Universal resorts twice- once at Royal Pacific and once at PB club level. My husband said he liked the Royal Pacific better. I think you will have a great time no matter which one you choose- i loved them both. Have a wonderful time!

I stayed at the RPH a few years ago and loved it. (2003 I think) We were in a club level room, but only because we got such a great price. I was very torn this trip between the RPH and PBH - we chose Portofino only because we have not stayed there before (don't really care for the Hard Rock after 2 stays). I can't tell you how many times I have thought about switching to the RPH; we just loved the atmosphere there.

I haven't read any bad reviews about RPH. Keep in mind that anyone can have a bad stay at any resort. I know people love the Grand Floridian, but it was our worst WDW stay ever and I wouldn't dream of going back there (unless it was free of course!!)

For a Honeymoon i would think that PBH is the way to go. But it just really depends on what you like. Italy would be PBH, or if you like tropical paradise then go to RPR. We stay at RPR every year. We will actually be checking in the day the you check in as well. We do club level every year, and it's the best, nothing ever goes wrong it's PERFECT. Club is good for the room, service, and excellent food. Great breakfast, good snacks, and the best "sweet tooth" hour you will ever find! Y'll will also love the FOTL access that your room key gives you at each ride! And if you really want to make your stay good, call RPR a few days before you go and request a water view room. hope this helps! and  CONGRATUALTIONS:banana:

Thanks for the quick replies :thumbsup2. The PBR has beautiful rooms (from the pictures), but I think that we will like the RP because of the overall atmosphere. I am going to call to see if we can upgrade to the club level.

Thanks again everyone! :yay:

Great to be a service to you my lord:banana:

If you need a good room to request at RPR club level - we had room 3712 last December and it was perfect. It was a couple of doors from the lounge and the view was right over the pool and had a park view also.
The lounge was incredible- the staff was excellent and the food was great- the desserts were the best I have had anywhere( I still crave the raspberry cheesecake!)

Thanks for the recommended room #. Should I call and request the room now and maybe confirm later? Or should I just call a few days before we are checking in?

we call a week before we leave, then we confirm the day before we arrive:thumbsup2

congrats on the upcoming nuptials!! UO will be a great place for your honeymoon. looks like you have gotten plenty of good advice about RPR. i'd recommend that you leverage the water taxi and spend some time checking out the other on-site resorts. that way you can tour the grounds and maybe have some meals/drinks...

for places to eat, i'd recommend:
Mythos - IOA (good food, but a really cool atmosphere and interior design)
Margaritaville - CW
The Kitchen - HRH
PBH - grab a late drink at The Thristy Fish

Be sure to join LF and have the number added to your reservation before going. Also, be sure that you have it noted on your reservation that you are on your honeymoon.

Thanks for the restaurant suggestions and other advice. We actually joined LW last week, and I added that # to our reservation.

We also decided not to change our reservation to the club level because we want to use that money towards eating at restaurants. We know we are going to spend a fortune on food, but we are OK with it. We are still going to call ahead and ask for a waterview room.

Thanks again everyone! I really appreciate everyone's input.
