Hi there

Could someone from 'across the water' please help me?????

Can I get Lactose Free Milk in WDW? Specifically is it available at the Pop Food Court & Buffet Breakfasts? (DD11 doesn't like the taste of Soy Milk - says it tastes like yucky biscuits - i.e. cookies in USA speak)

Also - what are the brand names of Lactose Free Milk in USA? Where will I find it in the supermarket?

And finally, do you have Soy based Ice Cream over there?? What is it called?

Thanks heaps - we're heading to the world in Dec/Jan and DD11 is rather lactose intolerant (skin/epidermal reaction primarily) so we'll be trying to avoid it where-ever possible so that she may have an occasional indulgence.

Hi and :welcome: to disABILITIES!

If you click on where it says "disABILTIES" at the top of this page it will take you to the Index. One of the top items is the "disABILTIES FAQ" which will gives lots of useful information. Post #3 will have a lot of dietary information which may help.

Or, if you want an easier route, click on the link in my signature.

And I am used to the name Tofutti as the soy-based ice cream.

We have not found lactose free cow's milk for drinking while at WDW (although maybe we just don't know where to look)! Having lactose or dairy free meals made has not been a problem, though. As far as at the grocery store, most larger ones stock lactose free milk in the normal dairy section. There are several brands: Lactaid is well known, and Dean's is a major dairy company that makes a lactose free milk as well. Also, the Safeway and Whole Foods Market near us both have a lactose free store brand milk. Safeway is a major chain, and Whole Foods can be found nationwide, and carries natural/organic and specialty items, including many allergen free products. There are many brands of soy ice cream, and my DD likes the Soy Dream ice cream sandwiches a lot.

Hope that helps!

Mary

hi

here is what you do look in the faq for brenda bennets contact info she is the algery person at wdw call or email her and tell her you need lactose free milk at pop she will have the head chef at pop contact you he emailed me and called me asap and was great i told him how long we would be there and how much milk my son needed he asked if brand mattered
they have lactaid wich is what we use anyway. he told me that the milk would be avialble all week stored in a cooler behind the counter at pop food court we just have to go and give our name and they would sell it to us and the other people on the list they stock as much or more that they need for people who request it and not just put it out for general public sale

we will be there nov3 and i will let you know how it worked out
if you need more help like lactose free foods at ts or cs resteraunts
then she can hook you up with the chefs at ts or there is a book at cs that list ingrediants

good luck

scott

Thanks everyone for your help! I've read through everything on the DIS, and received an email back from Brenda at WDW - a LOT of people deserve a bit 'pat on the back' for 1stly accommodating food allergies so well, and 2ndly for making the information so easily obtainable.

WOW! This is soooo easy to deal with at WDW. Some days I struggle to find Lactose-free milk at ANY of the supermarkets here (I keep a stash of the UHT stuff in the pantry), and I was imagining similar scenarios for our holiday. Obviously I was worrying for nothing.

So thanks once again, and to Scott.... I'd appreciate hearing how it all works out for you an your trip. Have Fun :thumbsup2
