I am having trouble deciding between 3 restaurants. I have...
1. chef mickey
2. le cellier
3. ohana
4. boma
5. biergarten (maybe still in question?) but seems so popular
i also have whispering canyon...until i started reading this site lol now im questioning it. the only thing i really want there is the bbq egg rolls lol...but the mash pot 'look' good. im more interested in food than going for the experience. i think we have enough experience with some other restaurants we have and also this is our first trip. were more about good tasting food
so my restaurants in question are....Raglan Road, Whispering Canyon Cafe, or Kona Cafe...i can fit 2 more so which two would you choose? also had thought about Sanaa but dont want to add even more! lol also dont want to give 2T for Jiko so just cant fit that one in.
so which two would you choose? thanks!
So if I read this correctly, you need 6 places to eat? Ok, so my choices based on the options you've given me:
(in no particular order)
1. Chef Mickey's
2. Le Cellier
3. Whispering Canyon Cafe
4. Ohana
5. Kona
6: Biergarten
Now, I will tell you I have never eaten at Kona, Biergarten, Boma, or Ohana. I also see from other posts that you have your touring plan. It's kind of set. Good. Just be prepared for the time it takes to get from a park to hotel eatery.
My family is big on buffets, and we're very much 'meat & taters' kind of foils. (Only hitch is that I'm not partial to mashed. Sacrilige, I'm sure to you.)
1: Chef Mickey's is a must do for us. The buffet is nice. I've seen people put it down, but I like it's simpleness. Plus the monorail goes over head every once in a while. How cool is that? You also get the Fab 5, quick and easily. We ususally do this on the same day we do Animal Kingdom, since that park tends to close earlier than most. We leave from the park right to the Contempoary hotel. When done we head to MK to pick up a bus back to our hotel.
2: Le Cellier is another must do. As I mentioned, we are meat and taters folk. We can't not go to the steakhouse! Plus, the cheese soup and pretzel bread are good starters. Others might say the tables are crowed, and the steaks only so-so, but I disagree! Any restaurant can be crowed. Look at Cosmic Rays in July & August. We try for a 7 pm rezzie, so that when we're done, we head out to a viewing area for Illuminations.
3: WCC. Another big meat and taters restaurant. The canyon dinner skillet, is a big hit with our family. Plus there are some fun things to do for the kids with the servers. Try asking for the ketchup! We did this 3 times, and over our various visits. The food is good, and plentiful. I can't speak about the taters, though, since thier mashed, I avoided them.
4 & 5. In my family's 12 or so visits, we have never eaten at the Poly. I don't know why. It just never made our list of places to do. However, after reading here, and seeing the pics, we are trying Ohana for dinner the day we arrive, and Kona for breakfast on the same day as our DTD day.
Two of our semi-traditions are to eat at a different hotel on our arrival day, and go have a nice breakfast on DTD day.
6: I have never been near Biergarten, as the wife is not partial to sausages that aren't served for breakfast. Personally, I would love to give it a shot, but the wife says 'no', and the kids side with her when they read that the menu has things they can't read without a translation.
I am headed there next month. If you beat me there, let me know about Ohana, & Kona if you get there.
