I am having trouble deciding between 3 restaurants. I have...

1. chef mickey
2. le cellier
3. ohana
4. boma
5. biergarten (maybe still in question?) but seems so popular

i also have whispering canyon...until i started reading this site lol now im questioning it. the only thing i really want there is the bbq egg rolls lol...but the mash pot 'look' good. im more interested in food than going for the experience. i think we have enough experience with some other restaurants we have and also this is our first trip. were more about good tasting food

so my restaurants in question are....Raglan Road, Whispering Canyon Cafe, or Kona Cafe...i can fit 2 more so which two would you choose? also had thought about Sanaa but dont want to add even more! lol also dont want to give 2T for Jiko so just cant fit that one in.

so which two would you choose? thanks! :goodvibes

I would definitely choose Kona Cafe. Their food is great!

Like resorts or anything else, it really is a matter of personal taste/expectations/preference. I can tell you that we have never done Raglan Road or Kona Cafe (we are going to Kona for breakfast in September). We did WCC two years ago and we won't ever go back. DH and I both love bbq and this was just bad food and bad service (DH was sick from the meat (the only thing I didn't eat). However, others love it and swear by it. I would pick which restaurant(s) has the most selections that you would be interested in.

I would do Raglan Road & Kona.

But, take a look at your park touring plans & make sure these are the ones that would work best for you. If those are both Magic Kingdom days for you, I'd do Kona and WCC because of the location. Making the trek to DTD can be tough if you want to visit a park before & after your meal.

actually wcc menu is the least appealing to me. Im not a huge bbq fan but if it was good and the corn and mash was really good then id be happy. the menus at the other two places appeal more to me especially since we are a bread family and kona bread sounds yummy as does raglan. i think i will cancel wcc and go with the other two :)

either will work for location so were good there

thanks!!!

The only one I can suggest off the list is Biergarten. Love the atmosphere it was a great experience. Food for everyone and my wife is a vegan. I've been to LeCellier and it was nice but prefer the Flying Fish Cafe, or the Cali Grill. Can't speak for Chef Mickey, Boma, or Ohana.

Goodluck with your planning!

If you are depending on WDW transportation Raglan Road is going to take the longest to travel to & from. Have not been, have read good reviews, so if you are already going to DTD that is the only reason I would keep it as an option. I would personally not make a trip to DTD just for dinner IF it doesn't work well with your park touring plan if you're depending upon WDW transporation or not staying at POFQ or PORS - JMHO & 2 cents worth!

WCC part of the fun going there IMO is the experience, we found the food to be adaquate but the bottomless milkshakes were fantasic. We liked the fun & the boat ride over from MK for lunch one day. This & Kona Cafe would work nicely if you go on your MK days or staying at resort near them.

Saana & Jiko's have not been to, but going to BOMA's you will get to see the lovely AKL. We enjoyed BOMA's very much. You did not say if you are staying at AKL, if you are then you may wish to reconsider the other 2 on site instead of the 3 you're still debating on.

Have fun deciding - that is part of the fun IMO :thumbsup2

We are staying at POFQ and we do happen to be doing MK both days in question. So the one day we can hop on the monorail and go to Kona and then the other day go ahead and head to DTD eat and shop then take the boat back to PO :thumbsup2

I know i need time at DTD and we are only going there one other day for a short while so i think this will work out great! Very excited :cheer2:

Ill have to save WCC for next visit ;) more excited about the other two!! love this site!!! :lovestruc

So if I read this correctly, you need 6 places to eat? Ok, so my choices based on the options you've given me:

(in no particular order)
1. Chef Mickey's
2. Le Cellier
3. Whispering Canyon Cafe
4. Ohana
5. Kona
6: Biergarten

Now, I will tell you I have never eaten at Kona, Biergarten, Boma, or Ohana. I also see from other posts that you have your touring plan. It's kind of set. Good. Just be prepared for the time it takes to get from a park to hotel eatery.

My family is big on buffets, and we're very much 'meat & taters' kind of foils. (Only hitch is that I'm not partial to mashed. Sacrilige, I'm sure to you.)

1: Chef Mickey's is a must do for us. The buffet is nice. I've seen people put it down, but I like it's simpleness. Plus the monorail goes over head every once in a while. How cool is that? You also get the Fab 5, quick and easily. We ususally do this on the same day we do Animal Kingdom, since that park tends to close earlier than most. We leave from the park right to the Contempoary hotel. When done we head to MK to pick up a bus back to our hotel.

2: Le Cellier is another must do. As I mentioned, we are meat and taters folk. We can't not go to the steakhouse! Plus, the cheese soup and pretzel bread are good starters. Others might say the tables are crowed, and the steaks only so-so, but I disagree! Any restaurant can be crowed. Look at Cosmic Rays in July & August. We try for a 7 pm rezzie, so that when we're done, we head out to a viewing area for Illuminations.

3: WCC. Another big meat and taters restaurant. The canyon dinner skillet, is a big hit with our family. Plus there are some fun things to do for the kids with the servers. Try asking for the ketchup! We did this 3 times, and over our various visits. The food is good, and plentiful. I can't speak about the taters, though, since thier mashed, I avoided them.

4 & 5. In my family's 12 or so visits, we have never eaten at the Poly. I don't know why. It just never made our list of places to do. However, after reading here, and seeing the pics, we are trying Ohana for dinner the day we arrive, and Kona for breakfast on the same day as our DTD day.

Two of our semi-traditions are to eat at a different hotel on our arrival day, and go have a nice breakfast on DTD day.

6: I have never been near Biergarten, as the wife is not partial to sausages that aren't served for breakfast. Personally, I would love to give it a shot, but the wife says 'no', and the kids side with her when they read that the menu has things they can't read without a translation.

I am headed there next month. If you beat me there, let me know about Ohana, & Kona if you get there.

We've eaten at both Kona and WCC. We all liked WCC but none of us got the skillet. I would say it was better quality than most of the food we ate on that trip. We got burgers, chicken, etc. I remember getting a really good salad there.

We liked Kona too. My DH got steak and I got scallops. It was much more upscale feeling than WCC, except for the fact that one side of the restaurant is completely open to the lobby at the Poly, so it can be noisy and there can be a lot of of people walking right by your table. No privacy at those tables!

We liked Biergarten and have booked it again for our next trip. A small buffet, but nice atmosphere inside and really good entertainment. It's noisy and fun and we liked the food.
