I booked a DM (silver) package for the 1st week in Dec at the BC waterview thru interline. I have always wanted to stay by Epcot and this would be my dream trip. The trip is for 1 week and would be our first deluxe.

Now, for the money I'd spend on the first trip I could spend it like this. I could spend 2 weeks at the allstars (Christmas and New Years) and buy AP's for all 4 of us plus food etc for what I'd pay for the 1st trip. Dh thinks we should go ahead and stay at the all-stars since our kids are 4 & 5. He believes the kids would enjoy that much better than the BC. There's also a plus for the second option. I wouldn't be taking DD out of school. I know some of you have strong feelings about the school thing and I'm pretty much on the fence about it. Another plus DH has pointed out is we'd have AP's and could go back next year with the family,do a girls trip and maybe just a short trip for DH and I. Having the Ap's we'd only have to pay for food. Dh works for Fedex so we'd get our rooms 50% off rack and fly round trip for 100.00 each. I realize the BC would be more for me and my kids are only little once and would enjoy the cute all-stars better.

So would the all-stars be too small for us and our little ones for 2 weeks. Would there be room for a small Christmas tree in our room. Are the pools heated at the all-stars? When you stay there can you use the other resorts childrens programs?

Aww babyblues - I am so sad to see this post and that you have started second guessing yourself! :(

You were so happy and excited about your dream trip at a great price - what happend? LOL

I love the trip you have planned for BC - this is a deluxe property - walking distance to EPCOT, boardwalk, MGM with the most incredible pool - allstars cannot compare - it is apples and oranges.

Good Luck!

The rooms are definitely smaller, but not impossible. I would think you could put a small tree (artificial) in there if you wanted to. My bigger concern with this plan however is the crowds you will experience over the holiday period versus the first week of Dec. Are you really prepared to fight some of the biggest crowds of the year with two small kids. What if you bought AP's, so you could use them again next year anyway, and waited to see if there are AP rates available for early Dec. Just a thought. (Still keep your other ressies though until you know for sure)

Are the crowds really bad? I really don't like crowds and the first trip in 2001 when we went we didn't have a wait for anything. Hummmm....I really didn't think about the crowd thing. DH thought Christmas would be nice at Dis and DD's 6th birthday is New Years day. So I thought that would be a nice birthday for her and I could exchange my dream resort for the Hoildays. Geezzzz so many choices.

Christmas and Easter are the busiest times. If you are staying for the week after New Year's the crowds will lessen then. My in-laws went once at New Years and the only park they could get into was Epcot.

Christmas is not the same at Disney...

I went with my young family members (cousins)....2 boys...5 and 8....and 3 girls....4, 9, 6.....
they were sooo not impressed!!
All they kept saying was will Santa be here....will we still get presents???
The decorations were nice...but Disney can do better....
It was really hard...and to make matters worse....parks would close at full capacity around 12 noon....and there was no way to get around Fantasyland...
Thank god we were staying at the POLY...as there was no way we could have spent a week's worth of afternoons at an All Star will thousands of kids in the pool and food court!

I'd advise against this....highly....
spend your Christmas at home..with a real, big tree....and the ones you love....plus this way your DD can have a great party with her friends...even if its not at Disney....

Hmmm....

Firgure out how much it will cost for the AP's and the room separate (without a package). I VERY HIGHLY doubt that there won't be AP rates for Early Dec!!! Think about 45% discount on the room. Does it to HAVE to be water view? Could you look at beautiful landscaping instead?? Lots of people do a grocery stop from the airport and pick up sodas, milk, water, snacks, breakfast items.

I am in favor of the BC in early Dec (the decorations will be up and festivities happening) for a week. I think with a package you will be paying for a lot of "food". How much can a 4 and 5 year old really eat???

I think you will save money this way and still be able to take a few trips during the year. Still not comfortable??? Then go for the AS for the one week in early DEC. I will be very much surprised if you can't get the ASSp or ASMu (at least) for $49 that time-with an AP!

We're going to keep the BC 1 week in Dec, but not the package. We'll still get our 50% off rack with our interline. I would really like to have the AP's to go back in 2004.

susy..thanks for pointing out the kids eating with the package. No they don't eat alot and would rather have mickey icecream and a hotdog than a large meal. That helped a lot on the choice not to do the package deal.

boston-yachter...your probably right. My kids are going to want Santa not Mickey. Thinking of parks at full capacity at noon....no thank you.

After breaking it down it's the wishes in the package that mostly made the difference in price. I'd rather pick my own things to spend my money on and figure I'll spend less. I guess reading most of the packages you can get so wrapped up in the magic of wishes. At least I did.

Thank you all for your replies you all helped!

Tammy
