Those of you who use WE GO SHOP or a similar service (name which one you have used) to get groceries for your villa including perishables, please tell me how much time do you spend "waiting" on the groceries to arrive? We usually rent a car and shop ourselves but we have family going this time and were considering using WE GO SHOP to save time and the expense of a car that will be used only for groceries. My DH thinks we will waste time "waiting" for the groceries to arrive. What are your experiences and suggestions? Thanks!

I used garden grocer in September and they were great, you pick a 2 hour window and they will deliver your groceries between those hours. I picked 5-7pm because I couldn't guarantee I would have a room until 4 pm they called and left a message on my cell that the groceries were with bell services and Bell services kept everything cold until I got to my room.

I second the motion to use GardenGrocer. We have used them the past two years and will use them every year we don't rent a car. The first year they delivered almost immediately after we checked in - last year we were delayed, and all of our groceries were with bell services. Frozen items were still frozen, perishable items kept cold, etc. Absolutely no waiting around at all.

We used wegoshop, loved Marge. You only pay a delivery fee, and the exact price of your groceries. She give you the actual receipt from the store. We waited about an hour for her, she was running a bit behind.

I also use Garden Grocer. They have a very convenient ordering process, and will devlier to Bell Services if you are not available when they arrive (including frozen/cold foods). You can then call and have Bell S. deliver your groceries. It takes a few extra dollars in tips this way, but oh so worth it.

Did you meet her in the lobby or does she come to your villa to deliver?

This summer, we set up a time with wegoshop and the groceries were delivered to our villa and put into the fridge and shelves as we double checked the list. We only had to wait 15 minutes after the scheduled time because we changed the delivery to the 2 bdrm villa instead of the studio at the last minute. Marge and the delivery person were in contact with us during that period.

My sil wanted to shop herself but since she need specific organic items, I didn't want to spend extra time possibly going to 2 stores while our families were "playing" in the resorts. We arrived a day earlier than my brother so we had the groceries delivered in the afternoon right before they arrived.

Wegoshop - you give them your list and where you want them to shop, they will deliver to your room - there could be waiting time.
Gardengrocer - you shop from their list, they will leave the groceries with bell services, no waiting on your part, but you don't get to double check your delivery with them personally.

I don't think you could go wrong with either one.

Hi: We've used garden grocer for the last 2 large family trips. In October, they called my daughter in law and told her they had another delivery coming to BWV a little ahead of our scheduled time. She told them to come on up to the GV and drop off the groceries. It took them 3 trips since we were buying for 19 people. When they were unable to get the size/count ordered on line for a couple of items, they just got the next larger size at no additional charge. We will use them again for sure.

DH and I keep talking about doing this for our January trip. All the information you guys have given is great. No matter what we decide, I don't think I would be afraid to try either company.

Hi! I'm a new DVC owner...does anyone use the DVC shopping service? I looked at the grocery lists on the DVC site and the prices didn't seem that bad, plus they'll deliver to your room & even put your groceries away, even if you're not there. That seemed pretty cool to me...does anyone have any experience with this?

We used Disney once, and it was convenient, but they were a day off with their delivery - we had to call to get everything delivered. We were also missing things, which they brought right up. The prices when compared w/ Garden Grocer are much higher, if you are going to get a good amount of groceries. We used GG in Oct. and had no complaints. They were actually early, they called our cell phone and said they left everything with the Bell Hop. We had one cracked egg- everything else was there with no problems. I would use them again in a heartbeat. :thumbsup2

We have used wegoshop.com 5 times and we will use them again in October. Marge is great, and even offered us a reduced delivery mid week if we ran out of something. We have always had a 30 minute delivery window and they have always been right on time. (For example, we ask for delivery around 5:30 - 6:00 when we are sure we will have our room and we are settling in before heading out to dinner). The cost of wegoshop is the actual cost of the items plus, in my opinion, a reasonable delivery fee. Garden Grocer marks up their items, but does no0t have a delivery fee.
I like being able to list exactly what I want versus choosing from Garden Grocers list. I walk my grocery aisles and list items and package sizes I would like. Wegoshop asks if you will allow substitutions or not. Marge even called me on my cell one time to ask a specific question as she shopped my list.
I believe both are good services.
We have never felt we waited for wegoshop and we love their service
Have a Great Trip.

Just left a two bedroom in SSR last Friday. I wish I knew about this. We took a cab to winn dixie had the driver wait while we raced around the store. Also picked up wine and beer but they would not let us buy it because it was before 9:00AM. We rushed so much that we forgot stuff... wife was very upset with rushing ruined our first morning not to mention the cab cost $40.00 (winn dixie was less than two miles from SSR)
Does Garden Grocer have a web site?

Thanks again

The first time we used Gardengrocer - when they arrived we were in line for Kali River Rapids. Left the groceries with bell services. I think the only time we have been in the room for a delivery is when we called for some extra's - extra beer and wine. LOL

But really - no need to wait for the groceries. Used them about 7 or 8 times now and never a problem.

We used wegoshop on our last trip. Worked out great--I would highly recommend them. They'll shop wherever you want--I had them go to Super Wal-Mart, so I could go to mine and pick specific brands and sizes. Of course, they could also pick up non-food items there.

For delivery, we were in touch via cell phone. We planned a hotel day for check-in day anyway, DH had the kids at the pool and I did the food thing. As it happened, our room became available right before the food arrived. So, I met the wegoshop lady, settled up with her, then she lugged everything up to our room suitcase carrier type cart. It was very easy and efficient. We also did a mid-week order. Since it was our first DVC trip, once we were there, we thought of more things we wanted, like "break and bake" cookie dough. Plus, my kids zipped through the fruit.

As far as waiting around for them, I didn't find it to be a problem. Of course, we were at AKL--plenty to see and do. If you have a cell, they'll call when theyr'e heading over. Maybe aim for a window when you plan to be at the resort anyway, getting ready for dinner or taking an afternoon break.

How does one order beer or wine from GG? It's not in any of the choices??

Wego shop is it any easier??

TIA!

Another thumbs up for wegoshop. Used them in Aug for the first time and using them again on Wed! :santa:

You just put what you want in the comments section. They add it to the grocery total and call you to confirm that you are ok with the price.
