help vigrin nightmare

hi

im fuming

i rang virgin to pay a £3.600 balance on my account and the money didnt go through. i rang my bank and they said virgin had put the expirey date in wrong so i tried virgin again and it didnt go through. we tried a change of stratergy and rang with my husbands mastercard. they said there was a charge so my husband said it didnt matter. the next day i rang with my switch again and it went though. a few weeks later i rang virgin and they said the payment had gone through.

the money £3.600 came out of my switch account.

today my dh's mastercard bill came and virgin had taken £3.700 from that too.

im so upset

i rang virgin as soon as i had opened my mail 6pm+ and they said accounts was closed and they would ring me in the morning.

has anyone else had this problem and was it sorted?

what can i do?

im really really upset.

Don't fret they did exactly the same to me too. For deposit on my forthcoming holiday somehow they managed to take it twice out of my debit card account.

Fortunately I had enough money in there to cover but they would have refunded any bank charges had I incurred any. They are obliged to do this Lucy!

If I were you, I would ask them to refund the Mastercard AND also make sure they refund the (is it 1 1/2 or 2% I forget) charge they will have levied you because you paid via CC. And let's face it, that's quite a chunk of change off £3,600.

It'll be fine when you get through I'm sure :) :)

virgin didnt ring me first thing as they had promised and yet again i had to ring them remaining on hold for 'like' ages!

ok i got through to accounts who have no record of a mastercard payment (only switch) so they are ringing their bank to find out. yet again i have been promised a phone call within the next 30mins. anyway regardless of what their bank says im sitting on a huge mastercard bill with virgin as the culprits.

hurry up virgin (your not very efficiant)

Can you call the mastercard company & place some sort of "hold" on the charge? I've done that a few times over here when the services that I "paid" for weren't kept. The credit card company then "goes after" the company that didn't do what they were supposed to do.

I did that w/a Visa card - not sure if MC works the same way.

In any event - good luck. I totally understand how distressing the whole mess must be for you.

virgin are very sorry and the money will be back on the card in 3 days (time it takes to clear) so i will check that out then and make sure it is.

no upgrade to first class though. lol

I've been having so many problems with Virgin since I booked my next holiday. They will only acknowledge I have paid towards my holiday with some vouchers and not others but when I ring them they tell me everything is O.K. and they'll send another invoice. When the invoice arrives it doesn't show the payments. Since May, I have made over 30 phonecalls and I've really had enough of their accounts department.

I'm giving them one more week and them I'll try writing directly to Richard Branson.

By the way, if they say they'll ring you back, in general, DO NOT believe them.

they didnt ring me back first thing. i gave them till 10am then rang them only to be kept on hold for a rediculous length of time.


you could also try trading standards and, for free, the citizens advise will write letters and stuff on your behalf but they know the law.

i would be very upset by now daipp.
