My wife and daughter are going on a mission trip for 9 days in July. My son and I will get terribly lonely and/or bored at some point while they are gone, so I'm going to take him to Disney for a few days. I don't need to spend much because he's two and will just enjoy parks, pools, and characters; and I'll be comfortable anywhere. That being said, I assumed we'd stay at All Star Movies (or something similar) for the cheaper rates. I see that I can rent points for a Boardwalk Studio (or something similar) for about the same amount of money as staying at ASMovies. I've never tried renting points, so should I give that a try or is it tha tmuch better. One plus would be the convenience of BW or the less crowded busing of another DVC. I'm not looking forward to carrying a tired 2 yr old in the long All Star bus line after a park day. Any suggestions would be great.

Also, what does ROFR stand for?

Thanks

All stars are great but renting points is a good way to go. the accomodations are nice and if you can get a reservation at the wilderness lodge studio with the boat launch to the Magic Kingdom, your two year old would be in heaven...

ROFR means right of first refusal and refers to the right of Disney vacation development to review and buy any disney vacation club contract prior to it being sold to a third party. Only applicable for sales of points and not renting.

I rented a studio at christmas at the Old Key West and i was amazed at the value of renting. However, now I am searching desparately for the right contract to BUY. So, be careful, DVC is contagious.....

For a studio at Beach Club Villas(BCV) in July Sun-Thurs would be 14 points per night and for Fri. & Sat. 32 points per night. You could probably rent for $10-$11 per point. As you can see it would be a great deal for during the week. And no tax. You can't even compare ASMo to BCV. It would also be so easy with a small child to be close to the parks. The points would be the same for the Wilderness Lodge(WLV) if you wanted ferry access to the MK. Any kid would love the pool at BCV. I have rented twice from these boards and it was very easy and saved me a ton of money! Well it did before we joined, so I guess it cost me alot of money in the end!!LOL!! :rotfl:
You would also have a kitchenette with micro and fridge. That comes in handy with kids! I would say definately rent and you will love what ever DVC resort you choose.

ROFR means right of first refusal and has nothing to do with renting. That's when someone is purchasing DVC via a resale and Disney has a chance to buy back the contract if they want first before the sale takes place.

I guess I'd like to know how much better the room and transportation is for the studio than for the All Star Movies.

Posted that a minute too late. Thanks for your help. It looks like we're renting.
